Chapter 3 Talk About Divorce
Natalie shivered and woke up.
After searching through the room and not finding her earring, she felt very frustrated and lay on the bed. In no time, she fell asleep.
She had a rather absurd dream, dreaming that she had gone back to the first time she met Rhett.

He looked down and spoke in a chilly tone about their three agreement, but in the next second, he embraced her, holding her waist, and whispered softly in her ear, “You broke the rules!”
Feeling flustered, she woke up.
His warm breath seemed to linger in her ear, making her blush and her heart race involuntarily.
Realizing something was off, she turned around and found someone right beside her, lips puckered as if blowing air toward her ear.
“You scared me, Sadie!” She pushed Sadie away, and her racing heart finally calmed down.
Sadie laughed, dodging aside, and opened a takeout box. “Your face is so red. Did you have naughty dreams?”

“Nonsense!” Tempted by the aroma of the food, Natalic got out of bed, put on her shoes, and walked over. As she reached for some food, Sadie knocked her hand with a fork. “Go wash your hands!”
Natalie pouted but obediently stood up to wash her hands. When she saw her flushed face in the mirror, it was indeed unusually red.
She splashed her face with cold water and returned. Sadie handed her the fork and began to gossip. “Come on, spill the beans. What’s going on?”
“What!” Natalie pretended to be clueless and started eating with her head down.
“Don’t play dumb! So, did you catch the cheater?” Excitement sparkled in Sadie’s eyes.
Natalie chewed her food and mumbled, “I didn’t go. You mistook the person!”
“Mistook the person?” Sadie didn’t believe her words. Suddenly, she reached out, grabbing Natalie’s collar and poking at something with a knowing look. “Natalie, you’ve gone wild!”
Natalie looked down and saw a hickey right there. In a moment of panic, her mind went blank. Yet, she managed to put on a nonchalant expression. “Well, you’re right. You didn’t mistake the person. I slept with him.”
“You slept with him…” Sadie hadn’t expected her to admit it so

readily. Sadie gasped and quickly reined in her excitement, “You, you, you…”
It took her a while to regain her composure and stutter out, “You’re quite the rule–breaker!”
As Natalie’s best friend, Sadie more or less knew everything about her, including her rushed marriage two years ago.
Sadie had opposed it at the time. Natalie hadn’t met the guy more than twice and didn’t know much about him. But due to Wren’s last wish, Natalie married him without hesitation.

After the wedding, he disappeared. Natalie lived alone for two whole years. Now, Natalie suddenly told Sadie that she had slept with that guy?!
Compared to Sadie’s astonishment, Natalie surprisingly stayed composed. She said calmly, “We’re married.”
After considering it calmly, Natalie realized it wasn’t such a big deal. Since they were married, such things were quite normal.
Since it had already happened, she had to face it.
Once she got her thoughts together, Sadie asked, “So, how did he
say?”
Natalie’s hand holding the fork paused, and she shook her head. “He didn’t say anything.”
When she left, he was still sleeping.

Sadie cleared her throat. “So, what are you thinking?”

“I haven’t figured that out yet.” After a pause, Natalie shook her head slowly.
“You’re really something!” Patting her shoulder, Sadie was thoroughly impressed.
She couldn’t understand Natalie’s thoughts. Natalie was brilliant at making money through her design work. How could she be so confused when it came to relationships?
Glancing at the marriage license on the coffee table, Sadie picked it up casually and said, “Forget about what happened before. Now that you’ve gone this far with him, shouldn’t you…”
“You are so lucky!” Sadie’s tone suddenly shifted as she looked at the photo, and she couldn’t help but exclaim. “Oh my God, he’s really handsome!”
Sadie knew this guy was quite handsome, but she was amazed again every time she saw his photo.
“Is he a celebrity or something?” She pointed at the photo.
Natalie frowned and shook her head. “I don’t think so. His grandma said he has a factory back home and works there.”
“A factory owner?”
Sadie wrinkled her nose, finding it hard to reconcile such a

down–to–earth job with his face. But judging from Natalie’s expression, Sadie thought Natalie probably didn’t know much more about her husband than she did.
“Forget about the past. Now that you two have done everything, shouldn’t you start considering how to live your lives?” Sadie asked earnestly.
Natalie looked at her food, feeling suddenly annoyed for no
reason.
Right then, her phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number,
She answered it absentmindedly, and a familiar yet unfamiliar voice came through. “Natalie?”
“It’s me.
Hearing her voice, he continued, “It’s Rhett.”
Natalie was at a loss.
Her mind went momentarily blank. Then she started thinking rapidly.
Why was he calling her? Was it about what happened before? What did he want to say or do?
Before she could respond, Rhett checked his phone instinctively, still on the call. He realized that maybe she had forgotten about this marriage, just like he had.

“Two years ago, we got married,” he added.

Hearing his voice, Natalie snapped back to reality instantly. “I… I remember.”
Sadie was watching her intently. Natalie got up and walked to the balcony, trying to sound casual. “What’s the matter?”
“Do you have time tomorrow? Let’s meet and talk.” Rhett cut to
the chase.
“Talk about what?” Natalie held onto the balcony railing, her voice trembling with nervousness.
Frowning, Rhett felt a touch of annoyance. Was she playing dumb?
Since she remembered him and the marriage, she should remember the contract they discussed back then. Now she was asking what they should talk about. Was she regretting it?
Suppressing his irritation, he adjusted his tie and said, “Ms. Lane, we agreed on our three agreements two years ago. You do remember that, right? It’s been almost two years. It’s time to talk about getting a divorce.”
Natalie was speechless.
So he called just to talk about divorce? And his nonchalant attitude was even calmer than hers. Did he not recognize her after sleeping with her, or was he refusing to acknowledge it?

Seeing her not saying anything, Rhett became even more convinced that she was regretting and didn’t want to fulfill the contract. His tone grew colder. “Ms. Lane, are you having second thoughts? Or do you have any demands you’d like to make?”

Rhett had initially thought he should compensate her for the two years of her youth. But he would ensure she got nothing if she used this as a bargaining chip.
Hearing the indifference in his voice, Natalie loosened her grip on the balcony rail slowly. She replied even more coldly than him, “If possible, I hope we can terminate the contract early and get divorced immediately.”
