Chapter 2 Your Wife
On the carpet near the bathroom, there was an earring.

Rhett bent down to pick it up, holding the earring in his palm as if it was reminding him that everything before wasn’t a dream.
“Mr. Greene…” There was a knock on the door. His assistant’s
voice somewhat hesitated.
“Come in.” His voice was indifferent as he casually put on a large bathrobe and walked to the living room.
Sam approached without looking around, speaking in a low voice, “Ms. Taylor confessed. She’s the one who drugged you.”
“Where is she?” Rhett casually picked up a cigarette from the coffee table, then a lighter, pausing for a moment.
“Following your instructions, we’ve already sent her back home,” Sam paused, assessing his expression, and added, “Ms. Taylor is quite audacious. Should we warn the Taylor family?”
Looking down, Rhett twirled the cigarette in his hand, not rushing to light it, and said calmly, “She wouldn’t dare to do it. She did this because she has someone backing her.”
“You mean…” Sam almost said the name but stopped in time, “The doctor should be here soon.

“No need. Go check the surveillance. See who entered and left my room tonight.”
Sam was surprised. “Apart from Ms. Taylor, did someone else enter?!”
Rhett glanced at him, and Sam quickly realized he had overstepped. “Yes, I’ll have someone check right away.”
He opened his hand slowly. The delicate earring left a faint mark on his hand. The woman’s appearance was blurry in his mind, but the sensations he had experienced were so real.
She dared to seduce him, and now she tried to escape?
Natalie didn’t dare to leave through the main entrance.
Her disheveled appearance would surely attract attention if she went out that way.
She left through a side door of the hotel, and indeed, there were few people there. Only a car was parked not far away. Her cousin, Lilith Lane, leaning against the rear door, engaged in conversation with someone inside.
Lilith’s expression changed the moment she saw Natalie.
She whispered something to the person inside the car, then walked towards Natalie, her voice cold. “What did you see?”
Natalie couldn’t be bothered to argue with her, her voice indifferent, “I didn’t see anything.”

“You better not have!” Lilith’s fierce gaze softened slightly at Natalie’s response. She looked Natalie up and down, mocking, “You opened a studio, didn’t you? What kind of business are you in that makes you look so shabby? It’s not some shady business, is it?”
“Is your business any more presentable?” Natalie retorted, turning to leave.
Lilith’s face changed, and she grabbed Natalie’s wrist. “What do you mean?”
“If you’re afraid of being found out, be more discreet. It won’t be good if my uncle finds out about those tabloid stories about you!” Natalie said and shook her arm forcefully.
Lilith was weaker, stumbling back a couple of steps. Her high heels snapped, and she let out a cry of pain.
Back in the rental house, Natalie took off her wet clothes and
took a hot shower. There were bruises on her arms and waist.
The mist in the bathroom reminded her of what had happened before. She covered her face with her hands, her cheeks burning.
After the shower, she rummaged through her belongings and found their only photo in a corner. He looked aloof, his eyes even more so in the photo, but he was undoubtedly the man from today.
Oh no!
Chapter 2 Your Wife
Their two–year contract was about to expire, and she could finally get divorced and return to single life. But now, when

freedom was within reach, she ended up sleeping with him, and this messy situation couldn’t be casily explained.
Her phone rang, and Natalie absentmindedly answered, “Hello?”
“How’s it going? Did you get the evidence?” Sadie’s excitement overflowed through the phone.
“Stop yapping!” Natalie complained. It was all because of Sadie, involving her in this mess. If she had stayed home and watched TV shows, things wouldn’t have ended up like this.
Detecting something was off in her voice, Sadie cautiously asked, “Did something go wrong? Damn! They aren’t ganging up on you, are they? Just wait, I’ll…..”
“There’s no cheating! Sadie, can you please handle things more reliably?!”
After saying that, Natalie hung up, tossing the phone aside.
Burying her head in her arms, she suddenly realized something was amiss.
She touched her ear and realized one of her earrings was
missing!
She searched the house thoroughly but couldn’t find it. Could

she have left it in the hotel room?
This possibility hit her, and her face turned pale.
She had designed that carring herself. If he found it, things would get complicated.
She didn’t know if Rhett recognized her. They had met briefly and rushed into marriage without really getting to know each other. To be honest, before today, her impression of him was quite vague.
He probably wouldn’t remember her, right?
On this point, Natalie’s guess was correct. Rhett indeed didn’t remember her.

On his way back to the company from the hotel, he efficiently handled a few tasks, only relaxing his tense expression when he
received a call.
“Grandma.” He adjusted his tie, and his voice softened.
“You’re back in Tranquil City?”
“Just got back,” Rhett smiled, “You’re quite well–informed.”
“Brat, stop flattering me. Since you’re back, did you meet Natalie?” Flora Greene didn’t beat around the bush and went straight to the point.
Rhett hesitated. “Who?”

Flora was clearly annoyed and shouted into the phone, “Your wife!”
“My wife?” He furrowed his brows, looking puzzled.

Sam, the one driving in the front seat, glanced at Rhett through the rearview mirror. He knew that Rhett had completely forgotten about being married.
In a hushed voice filled with sympathy, Sam reminded, “Mr. Greene, your wife is the girl Madam Greene arranged for you to marry two years ago, Natalie.”
With his clarification, Rhett finally remembered. He pinched the bridge of his nose. “I’ve been busy. I haven’t had the chance to deal with this.”
Flora clearly understood his excuses. She huffed. “Did you not have the time or simply forget about her?”
Rhett was speechless.
Flora sighed, somewhat tired, “You’ve been busy since you got married, and that girl hasn’t complained once. I let it slide when you were busy before, but since you’re back, bring her to see me.”
Without waiting for his response, Flora hung up.
Rhett fell silent for a moment, then started scrolling through his phone. He stopped, showing a rare hesitation.
Chapter 2 Your Wife “Sam…”

As his assistant, Sam understood instantly. “Mr. Greene, Mrs. Greene is from the Lane family. Her name is Natalie Lane. She graduated from college last year, her family is ordinary, and she’s been living with her mother. About half a year ago…”
“Her phone number?” Rhett interrupted him.
How embarrassing! They had been married for almost two years, and he didn’t even have her phone number.
Sam felt speechless.
He didn’t have it either!
Clearing his throat, he glanced at Rhett’s expression and quickly said, “I’ll look it up right away.”
Holding his phone, Rhett leaned back and closed his eyes, trying hard to recall his wife’s face.
He vaguely remembered her. She once asked him with a shy and soft look, “Are you Rhett?”
But when he tried to recall, her appearance became even more blurry. Only her voice saying his name echoed in his mind…
