Chapter 353 Refusing To See Her
At noon the next day, after finishing her lunch, Freya felt that she had regained some strength. Clutching the edge of her sickbed for support, she got out of bed and took a few steps while holding onto the wall.
Sylvia looked at her with concern, saying, “Frey, don’t worry. Your brother has sent several people to closely protect Jolly. If you miss him, I can bring him over.”
“There’s no need to. I’ll go by myself,” Freya replied softly. After making sure that she had enough strength, she went to her son’s ward.
Jovius had recovered quite a bit from the shock and was now emotionally stable, being looked after by several caregivers who kept him company for a long time. Sitting beside his small sickbed, Freya gently lifted the corner of his blanket and was heartbroken to see the abrasions on his legs. However, she was also filled with gratitude. Despite the huge explosion, Jovius legs were only slightly injured. Radley did protect
him well.
After comforting her son, she left his ward and turned to Sylvia beside her. “Mom, do you know where Radley’s ward is?”
“I heard he’s in the ICU on the fourth floor,” Sylvia replied. “I’ll go there with you.”
They took the elevator to the fourth floor, but as soon as Freya stepped out of the elevator, she was stopped by two men in the hallway. “This area is off-limits,” said one of them. Both of them were burly and were dressed in clothes that indicated they were security guards from the Monaghan Group.
Freya pursed her lips. “I’d like to see Radley.”
“Sorry, we’re just following orders. During Mr. Monaghan’s recovery, no one is allowed to enter except the Monaghans and Mr. West,” one of the guards explained.
Freya frowned and took out her phone to call Connor.
He answered the phone quickly. “Miss Kaufmann.”
Freya held her phone up. “Connor, can you tell the security guards that I want to see Radley? They’re blocking me here in the corridor.”
Connor’s voice sounded hesitant on the other end. “I’m sorry, Miss Kaufmann, but I can’t help you with
this.”
“What’s going on?” Freya knitted her brows. “Has Radley’s condition worsened?”
“No, that’s not the case! Mr. Monaghan has woken up and is recovering! It’s his decision not to let anyone in, Connor explained.
Freya pursed her lips. “Including me?”
Connor’s voice trembled. “Yes, including you.”
Freya hung up the phone and stood at the entrance to the hallway, her eyes looking toward the ICU in the hallway. Radley isn’t going to see me.
“Frey, since Radley doesn’t want to see you now, why don’t you go back first?”
He’s not going to see me? Why is he refusing to see me? I’ve come here to tell him that I’ve come around and that we

can be together, but now… Freya took a deep breath. “Okay.”
Returning to her own ward from the fourth floor, she sat on her sickbed and called Ethan, asking for all of Radley’s medical records and medical reports. Even though the man refused to see her, she couldn’t just sit around doing nothing.
Ethan hemmed and hawed on the other end of the line.
Freya frowned. “Dr. Griffiths, I’ve heard there’s nothing else you could do about Radley’s injuries. Why won’t you let me see his medical records at this point?
Ethan sounded somewhat helpless. “I didn’t plan to hide this from you, but I’m also helpless about it. It’s the patient’s own wish to keep his medical records confidential, and I have to respect his wishes.”
Radley doesn’t want me to see his medical records? Did he already anticipate that she would ask to see them? Freya took a deep breath. “I’ll contact you later.”
Sylvia sat beside her. “Frey, it’s normal to keep medical records and this sort of information confidential, actually. After all, the Monaghan Group is such a big company. Now that Radley, the head of the company, is seriously injured, many reporters are paying close attention to this. It’s normal for the Monaghans to hide his condition from the public.”
“That’s not the reason.” Freya said firmly. If it was only because of media attention, Ethan wouldn’t have refused her right away like that. Radley had probably instructed him not to let her see his medical records. But why? “No, I have to go and talk to Ethan properly.” She rose from her sickbed.
At the sight of this, Sylvia wanted to follow her.
Freya hurriedly said, “Mom, you don’t have to come with me. There are security guards from both of our families at the hospital now, so we’re safe. And besides, it’ll be inconvenient for me to talk to Ethan if you’re there.”
After thinking for a few seconds, Sylvia sighed. Freya had already recovered quite well by now, after all. “Alright, then. Just go ahead.”
Freya left the ward and went downstairs. She arrived at the administrative building and went all the way to the top floor to Ethan’s office. She gently knocked on the door.
Ethan had probably expected her to come and was waiting in the office. “So, you came after all.” He sighed after opening the door.
After entering the room, Freya sat directly on the sofa. “Dr. Griffiths, I want to talk to you about Radley’s condition.”
Ethan sighed deeply. “I understand. Actually, our hospital needs your help, too, but I have already talked to Mr. Monaghan about it, and he clearly refused. You know, with the help of Professor Harlan, there would be great improvement in his condition.”
Freya frowned. “But I can’t see Radley now, nor can I see his medical records. I don’t know anything. How can 1 help him?”
Ethan remained silent. It was Radley’s decision not to let Freya get involved. One of the principles of being a doctor is to follow the patient’s wishes.
Freya took a deep breath and, seeing that Ethan remained silent, understood what he meant. “For a patient like Radley, you probably have his medical records archived, right?”

“Hmm?” Ethan looked at Freya with some confusion.
Freya looked at Ethan. “Don’t worry, I won’t give you a hard time.”
“Then-”
Freya stood up and immediately broke the nearby small red sandalwood flower stand to pieces with a single blow, rendering Ethan speechless. “Dr. Griffiths, I will be gentle with my hands, and you won’t have to take any responsibility.”
Ethan’s Adam’s apple bobbed twice as he swallowed hard. After a moment of silence, he said, “Or maybe. we can skip this step.”
In the end, Freya walked out of his office clutching a stack of documents. She brought the documents back to her ward and began reading Radley’s medical records. As she examined the X-ray films, Freya noticed the torn tendons in Radley’s legs. No wonder Ethan said there’s no solution. She furrowed her brow; the small bones in his right leg were all fractured. However, amputation might not be the only option. There must be another way! Since Radley refused her visits at the moment, she would use this time to thoroughly study his condition and devise a treatment plan!
For the following week, Freya remained in the ward every day. She had not suffered any injuries at Emerald Dock; she had only felt somewhat weak for the first couple of days, but now she had fully recovered. She didn’t leave the hospital either. Instead, she would often visit Ethan to obtain Radley’s latest. X-ray films and medical reports.
During the week, she reached out to the three medical researchers who had previously been at the villa.
Russell, Lucius, and Maddox were all experts in the field of medicine. Freya summoned them to the hospital, transforming her small ward into an office as the four of them worked together to devise a treatment plan for Radley’s condition.
