Chapter 179 She Doesn’t Believe in Love Anymore
Connor lifted the tattooed burly man, who looked to weigh about 170 to 180 pounds.
Seeing that, Freya was surprised. Didn’t he just say that carrying 100 kilograms of gold had almost strained his back? What was this now?
Then, Connor handled the man like a large stuffed doll, slamming him on the ground a few times before clapping the dust off his hands.
Radley lowered the car window slightly. “Trash his car, especially the horn.”
When Connor, originally planning to get in the car, heard that, he took out a window breaker from the trunk and ran back to the Hummer, smashing the car and breaking the two headlights.
The other car owners beside them looked at the scene with widened eyes.
“How audacious!”
Freya noticed that the old man had made it to the other side of the road.
In the meantime, Connor was also quick to beat up the man.
He got in the car and reported to Radley, without even catching his breath, “Mr. Monaghan, it’s done.”
Though Radley’s anger was yet to subside, he instructed in a low voice, “Drive.”
Connor nodded.
Freya smiled and praised, “Connor, I didn’t expect you to be so skilled.”
Connor froze and felt a chill run down his spine. He smiled awkwardly, “You’re flattering me, Miss Kaufmann. Mr. Monaghan is much more skilled than me!”
At the mention of Radley, Freya felt her ears warming up. She couldn’t question Radley about the kiss earlier because she had been too immersed in it. I must have gone crazy! She changed the subject, trying to resolve the awkwardness. “Connor, you’re quite handsome and tall. Do you have a girlfriend?”
Not knowing what to say, Connor kept silent.
“He does,” Radley answered for him.
Disappointed, Freya said, “I was thinking that I could introduce someone to you if you didn’t have one.”
Connor stammered, “Thank you, Miss Kaufmann, but I love my girlfriend very much.
Radley chuckled softly.
Half an hour later, the car arrived at the floating restaurant. Radley and Freya got out of the car, followed by Connor. “Mr. Monaghan, I’ll make a call to have someone take care of what happened earlier.”
“Okay”
Then, Connor hurriedly left.
Freya and Radley walked to the small bridge that bridged the restaurant with the mainland. A wide river
was under the bridge, with the restaurant built in the water’s center. The bridge was the only route to and from the restaurant. Perhaps for ambiance, the restaurant owner had paved the road with wooden planks, making it a bit wobbly to walk on. The edge of the wooden bridge was decorated with flowers.
Freya chuckled. “If this restaurant were to be attacked, it would truly become an isolated island.”
They entered the restaurant and were brought to the private room Freya had reserved, which was located on the third floor and was the best location in the restaurant. Since the restaurant was semi-spherical, only one room was on the third floor. The glass ceiling was custom-made to open, allowing them to have a pleasant meal while enjoying the breeze.
But neither Freya nor Radley had the mood for it.
After sitting down, a handsome waiter came over and remained beside them even after taking their orders. Freya felt relieved because having another person in the room would make things less awkward. The kiss in the car felt like a dream. Fortunately, Radley didn’t bring it up. Otherwise, she wouldn’t know how she would face herself.
After finishing the meal, Freya and Radley went downstairs to leave. But they found that the first floor was bustling.
“What’s going on?” Freya was curious. “The restaurant is not under attack, right? Or else, we’ll truly be trapped here.”
Radley smiled and looked at her. “Did you forget that I can swim?”
Freya was at a loss for what to say. She was then reminded of the incident where they exchanged breaths underwater.
Soon, the two could hear what the commotion was about. There was a surprise proposal being held on the first floor.
Freya stood on the stairs, watching the woman covering her mouth with tears filling her eyes.
“Will you marry me?” The man knelt in front of the woman with a bouquet of champagne roses.
The woman smiled through her tears and said nothing. Seconds later, someone handed her a microphone while another was busy recording everything on video.
The woman took the microphone and answered, “I will marry you forever.”
Freya’s eyes glistened slightly, and she suddenly felt there is a hole in her heart.
“There’s no such thing as forever in this world, only the present,” she whispered softly. “But still, I wish them happiness. It’s great that they have each other in the present.”
Radley turned his head to look at Freya, who was lost in thought as she watched the couple.
But the words she spoke felt cold.
Does she not believe in love anymore?
“Why is there no such thing as forever?” Radley looked at the young couple and asked, “Will you love your mother forever?”
“That’s different!” Freya stubbornly replied.

Freya thought for a moment. “I don’t know either. I used to believe in love when I was young, but now-
She stopped herself and suddenly turned to look at Radley with a somewhat disdainful look. “After waking up with amnesia, I suddenly stopped believing in love
Perhaps this man had been too terrible in the past. Although she had lost the painful memories, she couldn’t regain her trust in love.
Radley fell silent for a few seconds. He watched as the crowd surrounded the man who had just placed a ring on the woman’s finger. He had no recollection of their past marriage. He simply married Freya because his grandmother was urging him to do so. Back then, he felt like marrying anyone was the same, so he chose her from a pile of photos.
After getting married, he rarely returned to Smalzot Yard. Back then, he even thought that he was lucky to have married an obedient wife who didn’t come to bother him. Perhaps Freya was too obedient, so obedient that she never asked him for money. It wasn’t until they casually divorced each other that all the details became clear to him.
Radley pursed his lips, wanting to ask Freya why she had married him in the first place. He knew it was for love, but when did Freya fall in love with him? She studied forensic science in college and later worked as an embalmer at a funeral home. Therefore, her connections at work didn’t intersect with his. He didn’t even know who Professor Harlan was. Moreover, the Kaufmanns and the Monaghans were competitors; he had never seen Freya before.
Radley tightened his hand slightly. At this moment, he really wanted to know the answers to those questions, but that memory and perhaps that period of time had been taken away by fate – Freya had amnesia. But it didn’t matter much because she was still by his side.
After watching the proposal, Freya smiled. “A happy ending. Although I don’t believe in love, I still wish them a lifetime of happiness.”
The two left the restaurant and walked across the wooden bridge. Connor was already waiting for them in front of the car. Just as they got inside the car, Freya’s phone rang.
Braxton’s voice sounded angry as he asked, “Frey, where did you go? You didn’t even appear for dinner!”
Freya smiled awkwardly. “Brax, I went out for a walk. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Vroria
There was silence on Braxton’s end for a few seconds, and then another voice came through.
Similar to his lazy demeanor, Matthew seemed to like dragging his voice. “Kittie, come home quickly. I’m waiting for you.”
Freya inexplicably felt a bit guilty.
The air in the car seemed to have turned colder.
Frowning, she questioned, ‘Matthew, why are you at my grandmother’s house so late at night?”
Matthew chuckled. “Your grandmother asked me to come over. Your family is very welcoming of me, Kittie. Maybe your grandmother has taken a liking to me and wants me to be her grandson-in-law
Radley sneered. “You’re dreaming!”
