Chapter 153 Life and Death Unknown
Freya’s ward was in a separate two-story building behind the main hospital building. When Radley arrived, Ethan was already standing outside the building.
Radley glanced around and was about to enter when Ethan stopped him.
“Mr. Monaghan.” Ethan began in a cold voice. “Are you here to see Miss Kaufmann?”
“How is she?” Radley’s question was equally emotionless.
“She’s not in good condition, so no visitors are allowed at the moment.” Ethan followed Radley’s steps and stopped him again.
Radley stood in front of the door, his face dark.
He had to see Freya!
Ethan sported a solemn look on his face. “Mr. Monaghan, we cannot let you in! The patient needs sterile isolation. No one except family members is allowed to visit. That’s what the Kaufmanns want.”
Radley raised his gaze and saw several bodyguards standing in front of the standalone building. It was clear from their attire that they were not hospital staff.
He couldn’t get in!
Eyebrows furrowed, he looked at Ethan and demanded, “Is Braxton inside? Tell him to come
out!”
“If you have something to say, Mr. Monaghan, I will pass the message to Mr. Kaufmann.” Ethan stood his ground, blocking Radley.
Radley’s voice turned icy. “You think you can stop me?”
“The patient is resting inside the building. If you’re not worried about her condition, you can try to force your way in.”
As the director of Caltun General Hospital, Ethan knew many influential people in Caltun and always handled situations in a skillful and adept manner.
Radley’s frown only deepened. Ethan’s seriousness and firmness today indicated that Freya’s condition was indeed not good.
He couldn’t force his way into the building.
And so, he pursed his lips. “I’ll wait here. Bring me her medical records!”
However, Ethan couldn’t do that. “That’s the patient’s privacy.”
While they were talking, a screeching sound of tires braking came from behind Radley.
He turned his head, only to see Matthew’s car stop with a puff of white smoke.
Before long, Matthew was running toward them from a distance of about ten meters, seemingly ready to barge right in.
Ethan wasn’t in time to stop him, but the Kaufmann family’s bodyguards in front of the door got in his way.
There was a ferocious expression on Matthew’s face. “Get out of my way!”
“I apologize, Mr. Hood, but you can’t go in today!”
Ethan wasn’t even done stopping Radley when he had to turn to persuade Matthew instead.
“The patient’s condition is critical, and she requires rest. Mr. Hood, please calm down!”
“I just want to see her. I won’t make any noise!”
“This is the patient’s family’s decision. No one is allowed to visit her.”
Matthew clenched his fist and stood still before he called Braxton, only to receive no answer on the other end of the call.
He angrily slammed his phone to the ground, then picked it up after a few seconds, trying to contact Braxton again.
However, there were spider web-like cracks on the phone.
Matthew proceeded to curse under his breath before he noticed Radley.
He had been so focused on Freya’s safety that he hadn’t even noticed who was confronting Ethan in front of the door.
“I’ll wait here!” Matthew merely glanced at Radley. He had no intention of talking to him
now.
Ethan’s expression turned bitter.
Neither of these two was easy to deal with, and yet they both insisted on waiting here!
After about half an hour, a few more “guests’ arrived in front of the building.
Ethan now understood why Braxton had asked him to guard the building.
Isabella of the Parker family was even more anxious than Matthew. After she was stopped by the security guards, she went straight to climb the nearby window.
Edward soon arrived looking as panicked as could be, but he was also stopped outside.
At noon, even the popular actress Aya who had recently been in the news ran over anxiously.
Ethan felt a headache coming as he looked at the luxury cars parked in front of the building.
“Ladies and gentlemen, Miss Kaufmann is seriously injured and will not recover and be discharged anytime soon. Your waiting here will not change anything. It’s better to go back.”
Isabella’s face turned pale, but she kept leaning against her car without moving.
“I won’t leave unless I see Frey with my own eyes and see her out of danger! I’ll stay right here if you won’t let me in!”
In the midst of the discussion, there was movement inside the building.
Braxton then walked out of the building before he looked at the people in the yard with bloodshot eyes.
“Thank you all for your concern for my sister, but your making a racket here is affecting her. Please leave as soon as possible.”
“Braxton, how is Freya?” Matthew hurriedly approached him.
Braxton’s gaze swept over Radley, who was following closely behind.
“She’s in a critical condition, so I hope you all won’t disturb her for the time being.”
As the yard fell silent, Braxton suddenly looked at Radley.
“Radley, my sister drove you home yesterday, didn’t she?”
Radley’s eyes grew dim. “Yes.”
“Heh. And you let her drive back by herself?”
Radley only quietly clenched his fists.
After Braxton asked the question, he turned and went back into the building.
In the yard, Matthew was gnashing his teeth in anxiety. “What the hell is going on?”

Without seeing Freya in person, everyone in the yard was restless.
Time went by slowly. Even when it was noon, and the sun was scorching, Radley sat in the yard without leaving.
In the afternoon, Matthew received a call. Hood Group had an important meeting today, and Matthew’s parents were furious when they learned that he had postponed it.
By evening, Braxton came out of the building again.
He first talked to Isabella and Edward, persuading them to leave, and then had a conversation with Matthew.
“Frey’s condition is bad now. She could be in danger at any moment. I need to be with her all day. Please don’t distract me by waiting here.”
As Braxton spoke, he patted Matthew’s shoulder. “There is still a ton of work for you to handle at the company. I’ll call you if anything happens to Frey. You should go back to the company first.”
“I just want to see her.” Matthew clenched his fists tightly. He had been nervous all day, and his eyelids had twitched many times.
“Are
you
here to make her better, or do you want to enter the sterile room now and increase. the risk of infection for her?” Braxton’s voice turned cold.
Standing a few steps behind Matthew was Radley who had his lips pursed.
He looked at the building behind Braxton, but all he could see was the lobby of the building from here.
He really wanted to rush in and see Freya who was inside. He couldn’t calm down otherwise.
However, Braxton’s words changed his mind.
Freya should be safe since her brother is here.
What I need to do now is to find that demn assassin!
After Matthew left, Radley finally left with Connor.
Connor would glance at his boss’ face throughout the journey through the rearview mirror and quietly shrink.
It was hard to breathe when the entire car was filled with intense killing intent.
“Mr. Monaghan, the company’s meeting has been postponed. Please decide a time for the

meeting to take place.”
However, Radley didn’t reply. His gaze was fixed on the outside of the window when he suddenly asked, “Connor, how did the investigation I asked you to do last time go?”
Isabella tightly gripped the steering wheel. “I’m sorry, Mr. Monaghan, but there are still no leads-”
“No leads?!” Radley narrowed his eyes. This was the second time Freya had been in danger recently!
And this time, it almost took her life!
