Chapter 61 The Awaiting Revenge
When the crowd saw the video, they realized they had all misunderstood Julia. They realized Julia’s intentions completely differed from what they had initially assumed. It became clear that their judgments had blinded them to such lies.
Julia wasn’t the villain. It was Vivien.
“My goodness! What a surprise!” a guest remarked.
The woman beside her replied, “I know! I was there last time too, and I felt bad for cursing and being awful to Julia. Later, I have to apologize to her.”
“I don’t think it’s your fault. I was there too, and Vivien also deceived me!”
After overhearing the conversations of the guests, Vivien felt anxious and angry.
“Vivien, is this true?” Lilian asked as her eyes darted down at her flat belly. She never really warmed up to Julia but never disliked her. Vivien’s child was the primary motivation for her animosity toward Julia.
If Julia hadn’t been so mean to Vivien, pushing her down and causing her miscarriage, Lilian would be holding her grandson soon.
Faced with Lilian’s interrogation, Vivien burst into tears as she replied, “Mom, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to deceive you. I love Carter so much. I can’t bear seeing him marry another woman. I’m so sorry!”
Carter scooped Vivien up in a hug and looked at Lilian as he held her. “Mom, you can’t be mad at her. Put the blame on me if you must. It was my fault. I didn’t handle the situation very well.” His words amounted to admitting that he had known about this all along.
“Oh, you knew about this, Carter?” Lilian asked in surprise.
Carter had to nod in front of everyone to protect Vivien.
All the visitors looked at Julia with apparent sympathy and agreed that the Ross family’s actions had changed their perspectives.
“Poor Julia. It’s bad enough that her mistress plotted against her at the wedding, but her fiancé knew and did nothing! Just thinking about how she let everyone insult and misunderstand her is heartbreaking!” one of the guests commented.
The guest beside her nodded. “The last few months have been rough on Julia’s reputation. Everyone at the wedding felt she was heartless for causing the loss of Vivien’s kid. However, no one could have predicted such a shocking truth.”
When Carter heard their harsh words, his face turned. The moment he looked at Julia, his eyes turned to fiery rage.
“Are you satisfied now?” Carter said it through gritted teeth. “Do you think I’ll leave Vivien after this? You’ll never succeed in destroying our relationship, Julia! It would never change that I don’t love you anymore. I love Vivien, and I’ll only love her!”
As Carter spoke those words, Vivien was rendered speechless.
Julia nodded, looking expressionless at Carter. “I know. You’ve said it many times, and you don’t

have to repeat it. You may not be tired of saying it, but I’m tired of hearing it.”
Carter’s chest heaved with anger. “You’ve caused enough trouble! Get out, Julia!”
There was no longer any hope for him and Julia. When she pushed his mother into the river, that was the end of their relationship. He could forgive everything else, but that incident was something he couldn’t accept.
With her gaze back on the TV, Julia said, “Oh, hush! Don’t rush me! I have one more present for you guys!”
‘What is she planning to do again? She caused enough trouble!‘ Carter grumbled as he looked bewildered.
Meanwhile, everyone turned their eyes to the big screen. The scene on it changed, showing Lilian sitting by the pool, sunbathing. As soon as Vivien saw it, she panicked, her wide eyes filled with disbelief.
‘How could it be?‘ she muttered inwardly. ‘I destroyed the surveillance, so how could there be- Before Vivien could finish her words, she saw Julia carrying fruit toward Lilian.
At that moment, Vivien appeared on the screen, looking grim. As Julia approached Lilian, she suddenly reached out and forcefully shoved her. The pressure caused Julia to stagger forward, sending Lilian stumbling into the water.
“Good God!” A bystander gasped as she saw what had happened.
There and then, the crowd was in disbelief at what had happened. Their blase views toward Julia suddenly changed as their eyes turned warily to Vivien. Even Carter and Lilian, who had always protected Vivien, were dumbfounded. They knew very well what would happen next–precisely the same as what was shown on the screen.
As they continued watching, Vivien jumped into the pool and rescued Lilian. Then Carter arrived, and Lilian furiously pointed at Julia, saying she pushed her in. Julia cried and explained to Carter, but he wouldn’t listen. He swung his hand angrily, causing her to fall into the pool again.
There was no doubt that Carter had no ill intent; it was all a coincidence. Right at that moment, though, Vivien passed out. Carter anxiously carried Vivien away, completely ignoring Julia in the
water.
Upon witnessing this, Jared’s body was cloaked in incandescent fury. His eyes were filled with anger as if he had just crawled up from the eighteenth level of hell to raise a slaughter. When he saw his reaction, Joseph’s heart jumped into his chest in fear. He also felt tremendous sympathy for Julia. The video on the huge screen froze and went silent.
Carter’s frustration had been building up, and when it did, he yelled at Vivien, “Tell me the truth, Vivien? Is that video true?”
“Carter, I…” Vivien’s face was pale, and she looked at him in horror.

This was the first time Carter had been truly furious with her.
“No, it’s not true. I didn’t do it,” Vivien adamantly denied.
“You didn’t do it? Then how do you explain the video just now?” Carter yelled, angrily pointing at the big screen.
“I don’t know! I have no idea about the video! I didn’t do it!” The tears came pouring out of Vivien’s eyes, and she looked like she had been severely wronged.
Vivien acted like she was about to pass out, but then she opened her eyes wide, stared at Julia, and yelled, “Julia, what did you do? Obviously, the surveillance system was compromised. How come you have it? Carter had a trained engineer try to restore it, but they couldn’t repair it!”
She then grabbed Carter’s sleeve and pleaded, “Carter, don’t believe her! She forged the video. It’s not me! I didn’t do it! Julia must have used special techniques to make a fake!”
Carter’s brow furrowed, and then, once he’d collected himself, he looked at a weeping Vivien and remembered that she was a nice and gentle woman who would never do such a thing. What Vivien stated was true, and he believed Julia was the mastermind behind everything.
As Carter thought this, Julia smirked and said, “The surveillance was too severely damaged to be repaired? Carter, have you forgotten about Adam Parker, the hacker?”
A memory suddenly popped into Carter’s mind. As soon as he remembered it, his chest tightened. ‘How could I have overlooked this? Julia knew Adam Parker. He must have repaired the footage!”
“Also,” Julia continued, pulling a USB disk from her pocket and tossing it to Carter, “the video is here. You can have it authenticated by a specialist to determine if it is genuine or if I have fabricated it.
Carter held the USB drive, staring at it fixedly. He was no fool, and neither was Julia. If the video were fake, she would not have challenged him to have it authenticated.
‘So, was it all true?‘ He couldn’t help but ponder it.
On the other hand, Vivien was utterly terrified as her eyes were glued to the USB drive. She wanted to take it, but she knew doing so would be the same as admitting her guilt. Before she could decide what to do, Lilian suddenly stood up, grabbed Carter’s USB drive, and stomped on it,

breaking it.
After she broke it, she yelled at Julia, “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re doing, Julia! The video on this USB drive is completely fake. You knowingly gave it to Carter for him to authenticate after having it fabricated. Once he verifies that video, Carter will be suspicious of Vivien no matter what happens. You’re trying to drive a wedge between them to shake up their relationship! Julia, I can see right through your tricks. You’re still just as vile as you were before!”

Julia couldn’t help but laugh at Lilian’s statements. She felt relieved that she didn’t and had to deal with his entire family. With a blind man and an even more biased future mother–in–law, it would be terrible.
As she realized that, Julie looked at Carter and replied, “Whether or not you believe it, it’s up to you. I’ve already given you my two gifts, and it’s time I leave. But before I do that, I hope you never have children and live to be old together.”
After hearing her, Carter and his relatives‘ expressions turned gloomy and unpleasant.
“Goodbye! See ya!” Julia waved and said, “Oh, I apologize. Now that this issue is over, we’ll never see each other again.”
With that, Julia made haste for the lobby and walked out. As Carter watched Julia’s vanishing figure, an unexplainable sadness filled his chest as if something important to him had left.
“Julia-” Her name had just left his mouth when a deep male voice overpowered it.
