Chapter 44 Fall in Love
“It’s okay, it’s okay now,” Jared gently patted Julia’s back with his big palm, his voice as soft and soothing as possible.
Julia, who was held in his arms, felt bewildered about the man’s behavior, unable to comprehend the situation.
However, that wasn’t the main concern at the moment.
The real issue was that they were still in a public market! This man seemed oblivious to the surroundings, hugging her so intimately. Didn’t he notice all the people staring at them?
The curious and gossipy looks from onlookers made Julia cringe. Some were even taking out their phones to capture photos and videos.
These uncles and aunties at the vegetable market may not be young, but their interest in gossip is as strong as that of young people!
Julia even imagined these nosy onlookers posting videos on social media with titles like “Young couple openly intimate in the vegetable market.”
With this in mind, Julia quickly withdrew from Jared’s arms, took his hand, and hurriedly left the market.
Back in the car, Julia looked at Jared with a strange expression and asked, “Why did you suddenly hug me like that?”
“Why? You’re my wife, why can’t I hold you?” Jared replied without hesitation.
“I…..” Julia hesitated.
They were just nominal couples, after all. Julia didn’t say this aloud. She married Jared and moved into the Brooks family to facilitate finding that certain item.
Now that Jared seemed to have let his guard down completely, it would be more convenient for her to take action.
Julia had decided to take action in the next few days. Once she obtained that item, she planned to distance herself from this situation.
“It’s nothing, let’s go back,” she said to change the topic.
Jared noticed that Julia didn’t refute his statement, and a slight curve appeared on his lips.
It seemed that, as he suspected, Julia never intended to have a baby with him from the beginning.
The more he thought about it, the better his mood became, and his face showed a touch of happiness.
Once they returned home, Julia rushed into the kitchen, closing the door behind her to avoid. anyone’s prying eyes.
Shiloh occasionally glanced at the kitchen door and expressed his concern, “Brother, you asked Selina to leave. Do you trust Julia so much? What if she cooks something inedible? We won’t have anything to eat tonight.”
Jared’s gaze remained fixed on the kitchen door as he replied, “She said she has done it before.”
“But why do you trust her words so much? Just because she said she has cooked before? I don’t find that very reliable. She’s a wealthy lady; how many wealthy ladies do you know who can cook?”
Shiloh questioned.
Jared turned his gaze back to Shiloh, a hint of determination in his eyes. “I don’t think she will let me down. If you don’t believe me, care to make a bet with me?”
“A bet? How do we bet?” Shiloh asked, curious.
“I bet that she cooks well, and you bet that she doesn’t know how to cook.”
“What happens if I win?” Shiloh inquired.
“If you win, you can ask for anything you want,” Jared offered.
Shiloh’s heart was immediately moved by the prospect. He had already planned that if he won, he would use the opportunity to ask Julia to help heal his injured leg and then allow him to divorce. “And what if you win? What do you get?” Shiloh asked.
Jared narrowed his eyes slightly, pausing for a moment before saying, “If I win, you’ll have to call her sister–in–law.”
Shiloh’s eyes widened in disbelief. He took a few seconds to process what Jared said, then stared at his brother with intense curiosity.
“Brother, do you really like Julia?” he asked candidly.
