Chapter 42 Julia’s Blind Date (4)
“Brother!” Julia took a step forward and positioned herself between Philip and Conrad, her gaze icy and unwavering.
Philip looked at the defiant siblings and wished he had never brought them into this world.
Conrad placed his hand on Julia’s shoulder, reassuring her, and said, “Julia, I’ll handle this.”
Julia nodded, trusting her brother, and stepped back behind Conrad.
Taking a deep breath, Conrad faced Philip with a resolute expression. “I finally understand now that you’ve never seen me and Julia as your children. We were just tools for your profit. When we had value, you used us. And now that you don’t see any use for us, you’ve discarded us. A few days ago, in the hospital, you cut all ties with us. So, I’m taking Julia away, and you’ll never use us again
in the future.”
Infuriated, Philip raised his hand to strike Conrad once more.
This time, Conrad intercepted Philip’s hand with his own, preventing the blow from landing.
“You might be my father, but I am also an independent individual. You have no right to hit me,” Conrad asserted firmly.
“Rebels! Both of you are just rebels!” Philip gritted his teeth and roared.
“Brother, let’s go. Don’t pay attention to him,” Julia said, looking up at Conrad.
Conrad nodded in agreement, “Hmm.”
They began walking towards the door together.
“Stop! All of you, stop!” Philip’s voice grew desperate.
Unperturbed, Julia continued walking with Conrad, ignoring Philip’s wild protests.
Philip couldn’t hold back any longer and rushed forward, shouting, “Julia, you stay with me. This blind date isn’t over yet.”
As they reached the door, Julia was surprised to see Jared standing there, about to knock.
How did he arrive so quickly?
“Is everything alright?” Jared asked calmly, his cold gaze sweeping across the private room before fixing on the hefty figure of Mr. Paul Andrew.
His pupils suddenly shrank, and his thin lips turned cold.
Julia’s family was truly ruthless; they even wanted to marry her off to someone like this.
“It’s over, let’s go,” Julia replied.
Conrad looked at Julia and then at Jared. “Julia, he is…”
Julia raised her eyebrows, a cunning and mischievous glint in her eyes. She hugged Jared’s arm and looked at Philip, saying, “Mr. Watson, let me introduce him to you. This is my boyfriend.”
Her words brought the room to an immediate hush.
“What are you talking about? A boyfriend? When did you get a boyfriend? Who permitted you to have one?” Philip shouted.
“Ouch! It’s amusing. I’m already in my early twenties. Do I need to report to you when I have a

boyfriend? Nobody cares whether you agree or disagree. What kind of society is this? Are you trying to impose your old–fashioned ways on the current generation? Besides, I’ve cut off all ties with you. Why should you care about me?” Julia retorted forcefully.
Paul Andrew glanced at Natalia and asked, “What’s going on? Didn’t you say she didn’t have a boyfriend?”
Natalia sneered, “Paul Andrew, don’t worry. In my opinion, this girl is deliberately finding someone to pretend to be her boyfriend. Young people are experts at playing this kind of game.” Paul Andrew believed her explanation without hesitation.
At that moment, Julia stood on tiptoe and planted a kiss on the corner of Jared’s mouth. She coquettishly complained, “Why did you come so late? Aren’t you afraid that the old man would bully me?”
Jared furrowed his handsome brows and gazed at her with a mixture of indulgence and guilt. “I’m sorry, it’s my fault.”
Julia’s pupils widened slightly, and she marveled at how realistic her acting was. She almost believed that the man had truly fallen for her, thinking that he had genuinely fallen in love with her.
Philip walked over and glared at Jared with wide eyes. “Where are you from, little guy? How dare you take my daughter? Get lost before I break your legs.”
Julia took a sharp breath, hoping to let Philip know that he had just cursed the ruler of the Brooks family. What would he think? Maybe he’d be trembling with fear?
With this thought in mind, Julia looked up at Jared’s face.
Jared had long eyebrows that reached his temples, a tall nose bridge, and thin lips lightly pursed. He appeared gentle, but beneath that exterior, he exuded an aura that made people feel wary.
“Are you Julia’s father?” Jared asked calmly, narrowing his enigmatic dark eyes.
“You’ve met me already,” Philip snorted.
The words “not likely” slipped out of Jared’s mouth.
“What are you talking about?”
“I don’t think so. In my opinion, you’re a human trafficker and should be punished by the law,” Jared’s voice remained composed, his expression cold.
Philip clenched his fists and seemed ready to strike. “Am I a human trafficker? I think it’s you who’s the human trafficker.”
As Philip spoke, his gaze shifted to Julia.
“I wonder why my daughter suddenly changed her demeanor? She used to be a bit stubborn but obedient. Now she’s like a completely different person – rebellious and capricious. So it turns out that you’ve been a bad influence on my daughter. Let me warn you to leave immediately. Don’t think I don’t know what your intentions are.”
“Don’t
you just think that my Watson family is wealthy, and you believe marrying my daughter will lead to a successful life for you? I’ve encountered so many people like you who like to freeload. Leave my daughter’s side now, or I won’t be polite.”
Freeloading? Jared?
Chapter 42 Julia’s Blind Date (4)
Julia was taken aback by Philip’s words, and she couldn’t help but chuckle in surprise.
But after thinking it through, she realized that in terms of wealth, she might even surpass Jared, given her status as a mining owner.
“Let’s ignore this old man, let’s go,” Julia said, taking Jared’s hand in one hand and Conrad’s in the other.
Philip was on the verge of exploding with anger.
“Stop them,” he commanded.
As soon as the words left his mouth, four or five bodyguards wearing sunglasses moved forward to block Julia and her companions.
Julia turned her head to look at Conrad and said, “Brother, don’t do anything. Your body hasn’t fully recovered yet. If you get hurt again, you’ll have to rest in the hospital for a while.” Conrad furrowed his brows and replied, “But there are so many of them…”
“It’s okay, we have…”
“Joseph,” Jared’s voice interrupted Julia’s words.
“Yes,” Joseph stepped forward and swiftly took down all the bodyguards with a few precise moves. “You! Not bad, Joseph. Handsome!” Julia exclaimed, giving Joseph a thumbs up.
Jared’s eyes darkened as he was well aware that Joseph had taken action to handle the situation. Joseph had acted because he didn’t want to lose his gentlemanly demeanor in front of Julia.
After catching the look from his boss, Joseph quickly turned to Julia and said, “Thank you for your kind words, madam.”
