Chapter 37 Sleep with Her Again
Silence enveloped the room.
A look of surprise instantly painted across Cameron’s face, her eyes widening to the extreme. After a brief moment of astonishment, she peered into the room and quickly spotted the person lying on the bed.
Is it Julia?!
Meanwhile, Shiloh, hearing the girl’s voice from his brother’s room, rushed in on his wheelchair. However, before he could glimpse the situation inside, Jared shielded it with his body.
“Don’t disturb me; I’ll handle the Scott Family matter personally,” Jared declared, swiftly closing the door.
Outside the door, Cameron and Shiloh stood still like wooden statues.
Back inside the room, Jared returned to the bedside, observing Julia wrapped in a blanket, realizing she had taken all the covers, without considering his comfort. After a moment of contemplative silence, Jared took the pillow covering Julia’s head. gently placing it back in position. He then lay down and attempted to pull the blanket she had wrapped herself in.
He tugged, but there was no movement.
He tried again, but the blanket seemed impossibly tight.
Jared persisted in retrieving some of the covers, while Julia, feeling increasingly annoyed at being disturbed, became temperamental upon waking up.
With a frown, Julia turned around and stretched her foot, inadvertently kicking something.
A resonating “Dong” echoed in the room, and Jared ended up on the floor, tangled in the blanket.
Cameron and Shiloh exchanged glances outside the door, wondering what was happening inside.
Startled by the commotion, Julia sat up with the pillow in her arms, observing the ground. When she saw Jared rubbing the back of his head, she realized that she had accidentally kicked him earlier.
“It’s not my fault. You used me as a pillow last night and wouldn’t let go. I couldn’t break free, so I had no choice but to stay here and sleep. Besides, you pull all the covers away. Was I not supposed to feel cold? You’re really selfish,” Juha protested, her words laced with a hint of playful annoyance.
Upon hearing Julia’s playful remarks, Jared stopped rubbing the back of his head and gazed at her with an indescribable complexity and strangeness in his eyes
Confused by his intense stare, Julia was about to inquire when Jared spoke up.
Win 1 selfish? Did I take all the blankets away? Aren’t you aware of your own habit when you sleep alone‘ Who likes to wrap up the blankets tightly?” he retorted. Uh oh.
Jared’s reminder made Julia recall her bad sleeping habit–she liked to tightly wrap herself in blankets.
“But that’s still not my fault. Who let you hold onto me and not let go? Now you’ve experienced the consequences of using me as a pillow to sleep,” Julia replied, half defensively, half teasingly.
As she mentioned “consequences.” Jared realized something peculiar. He had always suffered from a severe sleep disorder, seeking various treatments to no avail. However, after sleeping with Julia last night, he experienced a profound rest, free from dreams.
and disturbances.
Could it be that Julia’s presence somehow contributed to his peaceful sleep?
Contemplatively, Jared touched his chin, cherishing the memory of the night they spent together. His intuition told him that Julia was crucial to his improved sleep quality. Yet, he couldn’t pinpoint the exact reason, so he decided to seize another chance to sleep with her and see if the results repeated.
While Jared was lost in his thoughts, a knock on the door disrupted the moment. Julia swiftly exited the bed, suggesting, “I’ll open the door.”
Her words sounded innocent, but her true motive was to seize the opportunity to slip away. She didn’t want to deal with any potential repercussions from her kick earlier, fearing Jared might trouble her about it later on.
As Julia opened the door, she found Cameron and Shiloh standing outside, blocking the entrance.
Quick–witted, Julia immediately had an idea.
“Cough, cough,” Julia cleared her throat and looked at Shiloh, saying, “You don’t need to worry. I checked on your brother earlier, and he’s perfectly fine.”
Shiloh was taken aback. They didn’t sleep together last night? He believed Julia’s words, but Cameron remained skeptical. “Are you seriously trying to deny it? I saw you lying on my Jared’s bed just now.”
“That’s because you mistakenly misread the situation,” Julia responded without hesitation.
Cameron persisted, “You’re just trying to cover up. I know what I saw.”
“What did you see? Did you really see me lying on his bed? Did you see my face clearly?” Julia asked.
Cameron hesitated as she recalled the scene. In truth, she only saw someone wrapped in a blanket but didn’t get a clear view of the person’s face.
“What did you see then? I told you it was just your dizziness, but you didn’t believe me.
I won’t argue with you anymore. I came over early in the morning to care for the patient, and I haven’t slept enough. I need to go back and rest,” Julia said calmly, walking towards her room.
As Julia left, Cameron started to doubt herself. Could it be that she was mistaken? Meanwhile, Jared emerged from his room.
“Jared, are you really okay?” Cameron inquired, her eyes slightly dimmed. She regretted disturbing Jared earlier as she realized she could have let him continue sleeping peacefully with Julia.
Being met with Jared’s gaze, Cameron felt a chill down her spine.
“Joseph, drive to the Scotts‘ house,” Jared instructed his assistant.
“Yes, boss,” Joseph replied and began to prepare.
Cameron felt anxious and quickly followed Jared downstairs.
“Jared, I don’t think the Scott Family did this. They’re just a middle–class family; they wouldn’t dare to harm you like that. I believe Julia secretly drugged you and framed the Scott Family for it,” Cameron suggested urgently.
Cameron expressed her thoughts vividly, “It’s truly thought–provoking and terrifying. This woman is not only cunning but also incredibly malicious. She’s willing to sacrifice the entire family for her own personal gain.”
Jared halted and glanced sideways at Cameron, his eyes and eyebrows cold, his thin lips pressed tightly.
“Did you witness all these details with your own eyes?” Jared inquired.
Cameron responded with determination, “Although I haven’t witnessed it firsthand, I firmly believe that’s what happened.”
Jared’s
eyes narrowed slightly, and his gaze turned pitch–black. “So, it’s all based on your assumptions?” he asked.
Cameron found herself at a loss for words, unsure how to respond to Jared’s probing question.
“With no concrete evidence, you’ve concluded that she is malicious. Your accusations without proof suggest that you might be the one acting maliciously,” Jared declared firmly, surprising Cameron. She hadn’t expected Jared, her childhood sweetheart, to question her and defend an outsider like Julia.
Cameron clenched her fists, feeling a surge of frustration. She had even slapped herself to frame Julia last time, but now it seemed that Jared was not as gullible as she had believed.
However, Cameron had evidence to back her claims.
“Jared, let me play you a recording, and then you’ll know the truth,” Cameron offered.
She took out her phone and played an audio recording, and Julia’s voice filled the air.
“I just want Jared’s money and to become the mistress of this villa. I’ve even come up with a devious plan. I drugged Jared, had a sexual relationship with him, and now I’m carrying his child, ensuring he can’t get rid of me,” the recording revealed Julia’s scheming intentions.
