Randel
Chapter 286: The Enigmatic Secrets of Juju and Randel
“This is becoming truly unbearable!” Yannie exclaimed.
A subtle buzzing interrupted her thoughts, and she glanced at her vibrating phone.
Yannie tapped her phone screen to answer the call, and Cameron’s voice echoed through the line.
“Hello, Yannie.”
“Godmother, have you managed to convince Jared to come?” Cameron’s voice held a hint of urgency, knowing that she had to play her cards right to get Jared’s attention.
Yannie frowned, realizing the weight of the situation. “There’s been a development, Cameron.”
Cameron’s hopes dropped instantly. “What is it? Did you fail to convince Jared?”
Yannie sighed, carefully choosing her words. “No, it’s not that. Something unexpected has come up, and it’s going to take some time.”
Cameron’s disappointment was palpable. “So, godmother, are you not coming at noon today?”
“I won’t be able to make it,” Yannie replied, trying to allay any concerns. “There’s a secret, Cameron, something you mustn’t share with anyone. We’ve just learned that Juju didn’t perish in the Watson family fire twenty years ago. She was mistakenly presumed to be consumed by the flames.”
“What?!” Cameron couldn’t believe her ears. Ignoring the pain in her lower body, she sat up abruptly. “Juju is alive?”
Yannie’s brows furrowed as she continued, “I only know that the hospital’s report stated the child’s body didn’t match Juju’s DNA.”
Cameron’s unease grew. She had always known that Yannie had a deep fondness for Juju from the Watson family. If Juju were truly alive and revealed herself to Jared, not only Cameron but also Julia would have to step aside.
Unlike Julia, Yannie cherished Juju as if she were her own daughter. If Juju were to reappear, no one would be able to challenge her status as the young mistress of the Brooks family.
With these thoughts, Cameron’s face contorted into that of a formidable adversary. “She’d better stay dead!” Cameron muttered under her breath.
Meanwhile, Julia and her companions had just arrived at the Watson family villa. Randel was already there, standing before them.
Yannie and Jared approached Randel, who was gazing down at a small dog hole near the courtyard
wall.
“Lilibeth, what’s this?” Yannie asked, puzzled.
“Juju used to crawl through this dog hole all the time,” Randel explained, his mind drifting back to the past. “If Juju did indeed escape from the fire twenty years ago, she likely used this passage.”
Julia crouched down and peered through the small dog hole, trying to see outside. It was too cramped for her to fit through with her current body shape.
As she looked out through the dog hole, she saw sunflowers swaying in the breeze.
Sunflowers… Sunflowers…
Suddenly, a previously unseen memory fragment flashed in Julia’s mind. In the vision, a young Juju joyfully chased a yellow puppy through a field of sunflowers.
“Egg yolk pie! Wait for me, Egg yolk pie!”

Egg Yolk Pie darted through the dog hole, and Juju followed suit, squeezing her way out.
Once outside, they were greeted by a vast expanse of sunflowers.
“Look at all the sunflowers!”
From that moment on, Juju would crawl through the dog hole every day to admire the sunflowers.
On one occasion, she even convinced Randel to crawl through the dog hole with her.
“Randy, why are you so slow? Come over here,” Juju playfully tugged at Randel’s ear.
“Ouch, that hurts! My ear’s about to fall off. Let go, and I’ll crawl through,” Randel grumbled as he painstakingly wriggled through.
In reality, Randel could have easily taken a different route, but he insisted on crawling through the dog hole to demonstrate his solidarity with Juju.
Juju also confided in Randel that this was their secret hideout, known only to the two of them. Randel wondered aloud, “Are we the only ones who know about this place? Not even Jared?”
