Chapter 278 Julia was Pushed Down by Jared
In the midst of their conversation, Julia and the man emerged from the tent in unison, strolled past Cameron, and departed. Cameron remained rooted to the spot like an unmoving post. Her meticulously applied makeup, once exquisite, had now contorted into a visage of jealousy and anger, twisted and terrifying.
Madeline had been covertly observing and noticed Cameron’s reaction. She felt deep sympathy for her friend and had an impulse to confront Julia with a resounding slap.
Approaching Cameron from behind, Madeline extended her hand to pat her on the shoulder, trying to console her. “Cameron, don’t be too upset, you-” Madeline started to speak as she moved closer to Cameron’s side. However, when she saw Cameron’s utterly terrifying expression, her words faltered into silence.
Was this really Cameron? Why was she displaying such a terrifying countenance? It was a stark departure from the gentle, innocent Cameron she encountered daily.
Once Cameron regained her composure, she quickly reverted to a pitiable demeanor. “I’m not sad… not sad,” she uttered while surreptitiously wiping away her tears.
Observing Cameron’s forlorn appearance, Madeline shook her head. She must have
misinterpreted the situation earlier. How could Cameron display such a malevolent look? Perhaps it was due to the darkness… a trick of the light…
“Alright, Cameron… don’t cry. Tears won’t solve anything,” Madeline said, extending her arms to embrace Cameron. “Don’t worry, Jared has a keen intuition, and his ability to see through people’s hearts is beyond ordinary. He’s currently captivated by Julia, but I believe it won’t be long before he realizes Julia’s true nature and sends her packing.”
“I hope so…” Cameron replied weakly, her voice sounding frail, as if she were at her lowest.
Listening to Cameron’s voice, Madeline reassured herself that she had indeed misunderstood the situation earlier.
“What are you looking at?” Low Magnetic’s pleasant voice sounded from behind, instantly snapping Julia out of his reverie.
“Over there-” Julia tilted his chin and nodded toward the adjacent tent.
Jared followed Julia’s gaze, a sly smile playing at the corners of his mouth. “Are you feeling a twinge of jealousy?”
“I-” Before Julia could explain what he meant, he was suddenly pinned down by Jared. The sudden movement shook the tent noticeably.
Henry’s tent was situated right next to Jared’s, and the commotion didn’t go unnoticed by him. “I can’t believe it! It’s Jared again! With so many people around and no soundproofing, he still dares to…” Henry muttered under his breath.
After speaking, he glanced at Maddie.
Maddie instinctively crossed her arms in front of herself, casting wary eyes at Henry to fend off any advances, shuffling away to maintain a safe distance.
“W–what are you doing?”
What was she saying? Why was she stuttering?
Maddie’s nervous stutter piqued Henry’s primal instincts.

“Jared isn’t afraid, so why should I be?” Henry retorted.
“I’m telling you, Henry, don’t you dare! You’re shameless, and I still have some modesty left!”
Maddie’s heart raced, and her cheeks flushed crimson.
In this wilderness, even if the tents weren’t soundproof, there were people all around. After tonight, would she ever be able to show her face again?
“Don’t worry, if we keep our voices down, no one will hear us.”
Henry seemed resolute, and Maddie realized she needed to make her escape.
She hastily got up and started fumbling with the tent zipper.
Maddie was quick, but Henry was even faster.
