Jared
Chapter 266: Speaking Sweetly and Overheard by Jared
If Julia were to affirm this, Maddie wouldn’t believe it for a moment.
Julia gave Maddie a thumbs up, impressed. “You’re sharp.”
Birds of a feather naturally flocked together. Henry’s brother wouldn’t be too different. “Who could it be?!” Maddie asked eagerly.
Julia raised an eyebrow. “Want to take a guess? You should be able to figure it out.”
Maddie blinked. Brooks! The surname was Brooks! And he was Henry’s close friend!
“Who is it?!” Maddie asked, excitement bubbling.
Julia smiled and replied, “Want to give it a try?”
Maddie stared at Julia, a sudden realization dawning on her. Brooks! Surname Brooks! Henry’s good friend!
“Is he… the wealthiest man in Monroe City?!”
“Sharp! You truly are my best friend,” Julia laughed.
Maddie now felt the need to sit down and process this…
Maddie and Henry’s wedding was scheduled for the seventh day of the Lunar New Year.
To celebrate his impending marriage to the love of his life, Henry organized an outdoor outing for a group of people from the entertainment industry.
In this circle of elites, Julia and Maddie felt somewhat out of place.
Compared to Maddie, Julia became the target of mockery and ridicule from these individuals. “Jared’s wife, I wonder what strategies she employed to end up in Jared’s life,” remarked a girl, her eyes tinged with jealousy as she glanced at Julia, a clear disdain in her tone.
“I heard she ‘accidentally‘ bumped into Jared at the Civil Affairs Bureau,” this girl emphasized the word ‘accidentally‘ with a heavy tone.
“I also heard that the Jared family isn’t thrilled about her. I think she’s just a troublemaker.”
These comments grew increasingly malicious, most directed at Julia.
As for Maddie, not many people spoke about her. After all, she was now pregnant with triplets, had gained approval from Henry’s parents, and had a set wedding date. With such a fait accompli, if outsiders continued to comment, they would offend the entire Miles Family.
Julia faced a different situation. In their eyes, she had somehow entered Jared’s life through questionable means, wasn’t fully accepted by Yannie, and could be dismissed at any moment. So, they felt at liberty to mock and ridicule her.
“This is too much!” Maddie clenched her fists and stood up.
Julia lifted her gaze to meet Maddie’s. “No need to get so upset. You’re expecting, and anger isn’t good for the baby.”
“But they were talking about you! Why don’t you go find your husband and let him handle this for you!”
Jared and Henry had just left, and Maddie was unaware of their whereabouts.
Julia reclined on the picnic blanket, plucked a strawberry, and leisurely soaked in the sunshine.
“Why should he step into such a petty matter? Do you think I’m ignoring them because I fear

provoking them? If that’s what you think, you’re mistaken. It’s like a dog biting me, and I can’t exactly bite back, can I?”
Julia’s voice remained at a normal volume, clear enough for those who had been discussing her earlier to hear, just as she could hear their words.
“Who are you calling a dog? Why are you so rude?” Madeline charged forward, infuriated, and shouted at Julia.
Following Madeline’s lead, several other girls were equally enraged, fixing stern gazes on Julia. Cameron approached at that moment, positioning herself in the middle, attempting to play the peacemaker.
“Don’t fault Julia; she didn’t mean any harm. That’s just how she talks.”
Julia glanced sideways at Cameron. Did she perceive those senseless individuals as fools? Did she believe Julia was a fool? It was evident to Julia that Cameron wasn’t defending her but attempting to fuel animosity.
“Cameron, are you still siding with her? I heard that since she married into the Brooks Family, she has bullied you a lot and even assaulted you,” Madeline stated angrily.
What? Had Julia physically harmed Cameron?
Cameron was both beautiful and talented, considered a goddess by many aristocratic young men in the industry. Upon hearing Julia’s admission, they all closed in, and their gazes fixated on Julia. They seemed to wish they could pierce her with their stares and tear her apart.
“Did you really assault Cameron?” The one inquiring was Madeline’s elder brother, Elora.
Elora had pursued Cameron several times in the past but had always faced rejection. In their circle, everyone knew that Cameron had feelings for Jared.
Julia nodded, openly confirming, “Yes, I did, and I left her looking like a ‘pig’s head.“”
She had even delivered Cameron to Jordan’s bed. Later, she learned from Lincoln that Jordan had leveraged this incident to coerce Cameron into accompanying him for an entire month.
During that time, whenever she saw Cameron in front of Jared, she was always clad modestly, concealing her neck with a scarf.
Others didn’t comprehend why Cameron covered up so much, but Julia could make an educated guess.
Julia’s “pig’s head” comment instantly contorted Cameron’s expression.
The others were equally stunned. They hadn’t anticipated Julia would admit it so candidly, let alone confess to transforming their goddess into a ‘pig’s head.”
With such a lovely countenance, how could she bear resorting to violence?
“You’re outrageous! What gives you the right to assault her?” Elora clenched his fists, glaring at Julia, his eyes ablaze.
Many people present were Cameron’s close friends, all directing lethal glares at Julia.
Sensing the escalating tension, Maddie swiftly messaged Henry, urging him to bring Jared to the
scene.
“Why shouldn’t I have the right?”
Faced with the mounting fury, Julia stood her ground. “Of course, it’s because she persistently visited my home, trying to allure my husband. She even tore her neckline, lingering in my

husband’s studies and refusing to leave. As the lawful wife, why shouldn’t I have the right to confront a home–wrecker like her?”
Julia’s words were articulate, and Maddie silently cheered her on in her heart.
Everyone exchanged glances, and their attention ultimately focused on Cameron. Cameron felt an urge to throttle Julia but opted to feign a pitiful expression.
“I didn’t… I’ve already clarified. I grew up with Jared, and he’s like a brother to me. I just visit him occasionally. You always misunderstand me and don’t listen to my explanations,” Cameron spoke, tears welling up as she discreetly wiped them away.
This spectacle irked the less considerate individuals.
“Julia, your jealousy is off the charts. Can’t Cameron, if she’s Jared’s younger sister, look at him?” someone retorted. “Moreover, if not for your interference, they would’ve been together a long time ago.”
Julia sat upright, resting her chin on her hand, and looked at them with a smile that held a blend of amusement and mischief. “You talk as if she was with Jared before I came into the picture.”
“You-” the individual was left momentarily speechless.
Julia continued to provoke, “Frankly, Jared and she were never meant for each other. On the other hand, fate destined Jared and me for each other.”
As Julia concluded her statement, she spotted Jared approaching with a joyful and elated expression.
