Feeling that she couldn’t reason with Henry, Maddie was so infuriated that she reached under the table and pinched Henry’s thigh.
“Ouch!” Henry grabbed Maddie’s hand. “You can’t twist here. If you break it, your lifelong happiness will be gone.”
Maddie was biting her lips, suppressing a burst of laughter.
Both Henry’s parents were watching this and felt very satisfied.
This couple really didn’t pay attention to the occasion. Even if they are in a playful mood, they shouldn’t flirt like this in front of their elders.
“I mean, can anyone afford these expensive dishes?” Maddie rolled her eyes and commented.

Henry stood up and faced Maddie’s family. “Mom, Dad, Maddie, there’s something I haven’t told you. I was afraid you’d think too much. My parents are also here today, so let me reintroduce myself.”

“What absurdity are you spouting? Betray you, my foot!” Maddie rolled her eyes at Henry, exasperated.
Henry chuckled and turned to Maddie’s parents, “You’ve heard it. I won’t betray Maddie, and Maddie won’t betray me. Our love is genuine, so you needn’t worry about social statuses and such.”
Maddie continued to roll her eyes.

“Is it pre–wedding jitters?” Julia teased Maddie.
Maddie rolled her eyes at Julia, unamused. “You have the audacity to say that. Just before you
married Carter, you were occasionally moody and anxious too.”
Hearing Maddie’s words, Julia’s mind drifted back to the time just before she married Carter. It did seem like she had her moments back then.
But that was all in the past now. There was no point in dwelling on it.
“Ah!” Maddie suddenly exclaimed.
“What’s the matter?” Julia almost spilled her drink.
This was an ’82 Lafite, and it would be a shame if it spilled.
Maddie widened her eyes, looking at Julia in astonishment. “Henry is the heir of Xonix Corporation. What about your husband? He… He can’t simply be a minor employee at Brooks Corporation, right?”
