Chapter 258: Julia Acts Coquettishly, Jared Surrenders
Julia finally realized that Jared was about to ask the question in his mind.
“Well, since you’re so curious, let me break it down for you,” Julia said as she focused on Jared’s handsome yet reserved face. She raised two fingers and gently lifted the corners of his mouth.
“See, when you smile like this, you instantly look younger. Walking around with a serious expression all the time, how can you keep up with the energy of young folks? Even if you’re in your thirties or forties, there’s no need to be serious all day. Embrace a little positivity. Let your face light up.”
Jared contemplated this mental image of himself, the one Julia was suggesting.
Too silly. Unacceptable. Judging by the slight raise of his long eyebrows, Julia had a good idea of what he was thinking.
She was accustomed to encountering men who were aloof and severe. If a man suddenly turned carefree and started skipping around.
Well, that was a sight she couldn’t quite fathom.
A person’s personality couldn’t be changed, nor should it be altered for anyone else. There was only one solution.
“Come with me,” Julia said, taking Jared’s hand. They left the amusement park and headed to a nearby shopping mall.
“What are we doing here? Weren’t we going to the amusement park? Do you want to go shopping for clothes instead? That’s fine; you can pick out whatever you like,” Jared remarked, showing his willingness to go along with her plans, whether it was the amusement park or shopping. He was content as long as he could spend the day with Julia.
Moreover, he believed that going to the mall was preferable to the amusement park because it allowed him to pamper her with his money.
In his view, as a man and as a husband, the money he earned was meant to be spent on his wife. He had tried various ways to get Julia to accept his financial support, but she had always insisted on paying her own way. Now that he had this chance, he was eager to spend money on her.
“It’s not about me; it’s about getting you some new clothes,” Julia quipped with a playful smile.
Taking Jared into a men’s clothing store, Julia glanced around, noting that the style here seemed a bit juvenile. It felt like the attire was meant for individuals in their twenties, and there were even some styles so youthful that not even Shiloh, who was typically accepting of many fashion choices, would entertain.
Just as Jared was forming this opinion, Julia’s eyes sparkled with excitement. She hurriedly made her way to a specific section of the store and grabbed a bright yellow jumpsuit.
“Look, this style is similar to what I’m wearing,” she exclaimed, comparing the jumpsuit in her hands to the one she had on. Apart from minor differences in details, they were essentially the same in style and color.
Julia handed the clothing to Jared, suggesting, “Why don’t you give it a try? It’ll definitely make you look younger.”
Try this style. The thought was too much for him to handle.
Julia raised her head to gauge his reaction, and Jared’s expression made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with the style.
Jared Surrenders
“Let’s check out some other stores,” Jared insisted, clearly not a fan of the store’s offerings, especially the jumpsuit in Julia’s hand.
It was one thing for Julia to wear bright yellow, as her youth and beauty allowed her to pull it off effortlessly. However, Jared, at 30, was used to a limited color palette of black, white, and gray. The prospect of donning such a bright and cheerful hue was something he hadn’t entertained in
ages.
Just as Jared was about to turn and leave, Julia clutched his arm.
“Give it a shot; it won’t hurt,” she urged.
“It will,” Jared replied with utmost seriousness, his eyes locked onto Julia.
“Pfft…” Julia couldn’t help but burst into laughter at Jared’s staunch resistance.
She had known Jared for a considerable time, during which he had been compliant with her wishes, eager to pamper her beyond belief. He had given her the impression that if she wanted a star from the sky, Jared would fetch it for her.
So, witnessing Jared’s strong resistance for the first time was a surprise. Even though Jared had allergies, he had allowed her to keep Egg Yolk Pie, but now he was eager to leave the store immediately. It was a stark contradiction.
“Just give it a try?” Julia implored with wide, innocent eyes that fluttered their long lashes. To onlookers, it appeared like a daughter was coaxing her father to buy her a toy.
Julia’s playful antics were entertaining; she clearly enjoyed teasing him.
The corners of Jared’s eyes twitched as he gazed at those big, bright eyes so full of mischief. Could he-?
Jared lowered his gaze, focusing on the girl’s hand that was firmly gripping his arm and those beseeching eyes.
Later, as he stood in the fitting room, he couldn’t help but regret his decision.
“Are you ready?” Julia chuckled as she knocked on the fitting room door.
Jared took a deep breath and swiftly got dressed.
“Click –” the door opened.
Jared’s expression was peculiar, and he didn’t dare look in the mirror just yet.
“As expected, you look younger instantly,” Julia remarked, feeling that Jared, dressed like this, didn’t resemble a 30–year–old man but rather someone in their mid–twenties.
However, something seemed off.
What was it?
Julia’s gaze drifted upward to Jared’s hair slicked back in the typical domineering CEO style.
The hairstyle suited him perfectly when he wore a suit and tie, but it seemed out of place with this vibrant outfit.
“Alright, I’ll change it back,” Jared conceded, aware that Julia was teasing him.
Of course, he didn’t mind playing along with her.
“Since you’re already wearing it, don’t take it off. I’ll pay for it,” Julia insisted, refusing to let Jared retreat into the fitting room.
What? Jared tensed up. Julia wanted him to leave the store wearing these clothes. Would he ever

have the face to show himself in public again?
No matter how crazy he might be, there had to be limits.
She could do so privately if Julia wanted to see him in this outfit. But did she expect him to parade around in it?
Absolutely not.
Julia swiftly scanned a QR code on her phone, completing the

payment.
This made Jared’s eyes light up. It was the first time she had bought and given him clothes. Although he didn’t particularly fancy this style, the gesture itself held significant meaning. “Alright, let’s go. I’ll take you to a barber shop.”
“Why? What are we doing there?”
“Let me give you a new hairstyle. Your current one doesn’t go with this outfit at all. Take a look in the mirror; don’t you find it a bit mismatched?” Julia pushed Jared toward the mirror.
Jared turned his head away, steadfastly avoiding his reflection.
Julia pinched his cheek and redirected his gaze to the mirror. “See for yourself; it’s not that dramatic.”
Julia coerced Jared, and reluctantly glanced at himself in the mirror, immediately averting his
eves.
While the reflection wasn’t unattractive, it felt bizarre. He couldn’t imagine himself embracing this style anytime soon.
“Alright, let’s go,” Julia urged, guiding Jared out of the store like a child who didn’t want to attend kindergarten. They headed to a high–end barber shop.
“What type of hairstyle would you like?” the stylist asked.
“Dye it silver–gray to give him a more dashing look in the sunshine,” Julia suggested playfully.
