Chapter 256: Date, Julia’s Special Dress
Seeing the sudden gleam in the man’s eyes, Julia couldn’t help but feel a twinge of nervousness. Had she made a mistake by suggesting this?
It’s a bit too late for second thoughts.
Julia reminded herself that she usually followed through on her commitments. She despised. people who made promises and didn’t keep them, and she didn’t want to be one of them.
“Are you serious?” Jared inquired, his gaze piercing.
Julia had already made her statement, and she couldn’t backtrack now, so she replied with determination, “Yes, I’m serious.”
“But don’t push it too far. You’re not asking me to accompany you everywhere, right? I have my principles, and I’m not that casual,” Julia added cautiously.
“Of course, I won’t push it too far,” Jared replied, his thin lips curling into a barely concealed smile.
Seeing Jared’s expression, Julia’s unease grew. She feared that he might make some unreasonable demands.
Jared leaned close to Julia’s ear, the proximity so intimate that he could have easily taken her pink earlobe into his mouth if he wished.
“My conditions aren’t unreasonable at all. Just spend tomorrow, my day off, with me on a date,” he whispered.
Julia breathed a sigh of relief. This request was quite reasonable and well within her comfort
Zone.
However, a thought crossed her mind.
“Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t you scheduled to work tomorrow, which is a Friday?” Julia raised an eyebrow.
“I’m taking the day off tomorrow,” Jared replied.
Julia was slightly surprised. After all, Jared was the CEO of a company, and it was unusual for him. to take a casual day off without any specific reason. His company had strict rules about leave, and employees were usually only granted time off under special circumstances.
In Jared’s eyes, maintaining a well–structured work environment was paramount. So, hearing him say he was taking a day off like this was unexpected.
However, there was no diminishing surprise, only an increasing sense of amazement.
“So, shall we all take a day off?” Jared’s suggestion left Julia thoroughly astonished.
“What did you just say? All the employees are taking a collective day off?” Hearing this, Jared’s motherly nature came to the fore.
He made this decision just so he could have a date with her. Was that the reason?!
Jared nodded seriously. “Yes, let’s go on a date tomorrow.”
Julia was left dumbfounded for several seconds as she kept her mouth slightly agape while staring at Jared intently.
After confirming that Jared wasn’t joking, Julia couldn’t help but twitch the corners of her mouth and her eyes.
“You truly… You leave me speechless. If you really do this, and your mother finds out, she might

point her finger at me and scold me, calling me a temptress who brings disaster to the country and the people.”
Julia felt that this description was uncomfortably accurate.
Jared had a contented expression on his face. He maintained his close proximity to Julia and said with a smile, “For you, I’d be willing to be the king who brings about such chaos.”
At that moment, words failed Julia to express her feelings. In the end, Julia didn’t agree to all of Jared’s whimsical conditions but did agree to go on a date with him over the weekend.
The weekend arrived, and early in the morning, Jared got up, dressed up, and sat on the sofa, waiting for Julia.
Shiloh came downstairs, observing Jared’s attire, and couldn’t help but ask, “Aren’t you going on a date with Julia today? Why are you dressed like that?”
Jared glanced at his well–pressed dress shirt, feeling satisfied with his appearance.
“Is there something wrong with how I’m dressed?” he asked.
Scratching his head, Shiloh replied, “Well, it’s not that there’s something wrong, but aren’t you just going on a date? You’re not attending a formal meeting. There’s no need to dress so formally, is there?”
Jared staunchly defended his choice. “What do you know? Dressing formally for our date shows that I value it.”
Shiloh couldn’t help but twitch the corner of his mouth at Jared’s response, feeling that Jared might be missing the point.
“Do you think I’m wrong?” Jared asked, narrowing his eyes at Shiloh.
“Have you ever been on a date?” Shiloh shot back, catching Jared off guard with his
counter–question.
Jared responded, “You haven’t even had a girlfriend before. Is your advice on dating reliable?”
Shiloh was momentarily at a loss for words.
“We’re brothers. Do you have to be so harsh?” Shiloh retorted.
“What does that have to do with anything?” Jared challenged.
Shiloh didn’t back down. “Well, I may not have been on a date, but I’ve seen plenty of couples in the park and playground. None of them dress as formally as you do for a date. It’s like they’re discussing matters of national importance.”
As soon as Shiloh finished speaking, he heard movement from upstairs. It must be Julia coming down.
With Julia about to descend, Jared had no intention of arguing further with Shiloh. He turned his attention upstairs, and upon seeing Julia, his eyes lit up.
Shiloh’s eyes widened in surprise, too, mirroring Jared’s reaction
Julia’s attire was different from her usual mature and alluring look; today, she looked adorable and innocent. She wore a white shirt with pastel yellow overalls, one suspender deliberately drooping down for added cuteness. Julia had even altered her hairstyle, braiding two plaits and placing a delicate, cute hairpin on her head.
The overall effect was cute and sweet, making her look like an entirely different person.
Jared had risen from the sofa without realizing it and now stood beside Julia, his gaze roaming

from top to bottom and then bottom to top.
Even though the person in front of him was still Julia, the freshness she exuded was entirely different from her usual style. It only served to make him fall in love with her all over again.
“Julia, you look incredibly cute like this,” he exclaimed.
Shiloh couldn’t help but praise Julia, either. He stared at her intently, captivated by her cuteness. Shiloh had a soft spot for all things cute, which was likely why he had chosen a mate like Julia. She was irresistibly charming.
While Shiloh was thoroughly enchanted, Jared suddenly took a step forward, blocking his view. Shiloh blinked in surprise. “Hey, aren’t you being a bit stingy? I just wanted to get a better look.” “No, she’s your sister–in–law,” Jared reminded Shiloh deliberately as he held Julia’s hand. Their fingers were intertwined.
Julia raised an eyebrow, a bit taken aback by the gesture. Holding hands like this felt rather… intimate.
However, she had agreed to date Jared, and he wasn’t doing anything excessive. Just holding hands was acceptable even for ordinary friends. So, Julia didn’t fuss over it.
As they left the house, Julia noticed that Jared kept stealing glances at her.
Whenever he turned around, she would catch him looking at her.
