Chapter 255: Examination, Anger, Misunderstanding Resolved
Julia was seething with anger, a level of fury she had rarely experienced before. Distrust and suspicion were the emotions she detested most. She reached up and yanked the small jade statue pendant off her necklace.
“Here, take it! I don’t want it anymore! From this moment on, you and I are through!”
As the words left her lips, Jared’s actions abruptly stopped.
After a brief silence, Jared slowly lifted his head to gaze at Julia.
At that moment, Julia’s face was a canvas of unbridled rage, her eyes aflame with anger and even a touch of resentment.
Seeing her like this, Jared felt an unusual surge of panic welling up within him.
Julia’s chest heaved with every breath.
“I’ll gather my things and leave immediately. Don’t come look for me, and I won’t let you
either!”
find me
Hearing these unyielding words, Jared momentarily lost focus. Then, reacting swiftly, he wrapped his arms around Julia, firmly encircling her waist.
Though he knew it might be futile, he held her captive at least, preventing her escape.
“Let me go!” Julia forcefully pushed against his shoulder.
“You’re not allowed to leave,” Jared declared with an authoritative tone, his grip unyielding.
“I have to leave! Release me!” Julia persisted, continuing to push against his shoulder with increasing intensity.
The harder Julia pushed, the tighter Jared clung to her.
Julia’s efforts grew so forceful that her face turned red and her ears crimson. No matter how much she strained, she couldn’t break free. In her frustration, she leaned against his shoulder and, in a fit of anger, opened her mouth to bite.
“Uh–huh–” The man let out a painful groan, and then he remained still.
‘Still not letting go?‘
Julia relaxed her bite slightly and was surprised. She had bitten him so hard, yet he didn’t seem to react with pain.
‘Is he really that resilient?‘
Julia decided to test his limits. She clamped down harder, causing the man to remain silent, though his body displayed subtle signs of discomfort. The rising and falling of his chest and the slightly heavier breaths indicated that he was enduring the pain.
Julia chuckled with a mix of anger, “What exactly do you want?”
“Don’t leave,” the man replied with a touch of reluctance in his normally commanding voice. Upon closer listening, it even sounded somewhat pleading.
Pleading? This word struck Julia as unbelievable.
The man was known for his nobility; he was the wealthiest individual in Monroe City and a ruthless leader. Despite his genteel appearance, he wielded immense power and had a reputation for decisiveness.
How could someone like him bow to her, let alone plead?

Chapter 255. Examination, Anger, Misunderstanding Resolved
“What I despise the most is when people doubt my words. I told you that I was merely treating Randel, who suffers from severe asthma. You can verify this information. I hid under the table because I never anticipated that you and your mother would suddenly show up to celebrate Randel’s birthday. Every time you become angry and jealous, it’s me who suffers the consequences. I did this to avoid unnecessary trouble. Do you think I enjoyed hiding under that table? Even after all this explanation, do you still require further verification?”
As Julia spoke, her face reddened, extending down to her neck and behind her ears. Was it or embarrassment that caused her to blush?
anger
“Anyway, I gave you the Little Jade Statue. I don’t want it anymore!”
Julia’s anger surged with every word. What did he mean by verification? Wasn’t it utterly humiliating? Did he genuinely believe she was a flirtatious woman?
It was infuriating!
Jared firmly held onto Julia’s arm, recognizing that he had gone too far after hearing her words.
“I’m sorry; my jealousy got the best of me and hurt you. It was my mistake, and I shouldn’t have acted that way. Would you like to hit me to even the score?”
Jared reached for Julia’s hand, placing it on his face without hesitation.
A resounding slap echoed through the room.
Julia’s palm stung with numbness, clearly demonstrating the strength of the slap.
Julia instinctively pulled back her hand, her palm having landed on the man’s face before she could react.
“You-” Julia intended to say something but halted when she saw the man’s apologetic and affectionate gaze fixed on her. She found herself momentarily speechless.
In the heat of the moment, Julia and Jared acted impulsively.
Now that she had regained her composure, her anger towards the man gradually subsided.
Furthermore, if she were to put herself in the man’s shoes, if she were Jared and saw her wife hiding under another man’s table, she would likely erupt in fury as well.
“If you haven’t finished venting, you can continue hitting me,” Jared suggested, picking up Julia’s hand and placing it on his face once more.
Jared reached for Julia’s hand again, placing it on his face without hesitation.
This time, Julia hesitated for a moment before delivering a slap.
Julia’s quick reflexes kicked in as she curled her fingers and pulled her arm away.
“Okay, I can’t blame you for this,” Julia sighed in relief.
She gazed at the red mark on the man’s face and felt a strange mix of emotions welling up inside her.
“Please, let me go,” Julia said. Her own embarrassment grew more palpable as she met the man’s unwavering gaze.
However, Jared continued to frown and showed no intention of releasing his grip on Julia.
“You’re about to break my waist,” Julia remarked, pushing against him.
Jared relented slightly, though only a fraction, leaving a small gap around Julia’s waist. It was just large enough for a mosquito to pass through.

Julia rolled her eyes in exasperation. Was he worried she would escape?
“I mean, am I a magician? Can I magically make a living person disappear? Turn invisible to you? Besides, you can’t keep me confined like this. Will you tie me to your waist all the time? What
about going to the restroom, eating, or working? Do you plan to have me tethered to you constantly?”
Julia noticed that Jared had lowered his eyes and was deep in thought. She suspected she knew what was on his mind.
“You’re not seriously considering that, are you?”
“You should consider it,” Jared replied with a solemn expression, his eyes fixed on Julia.
Julia’s eyes widened in disbelief. Was he actually serious?
“Do you plan to carry me around everywhere, like when you’re eating, going to the toilet, working, or attending meetings?”
Julia couldn’t help but imagine the comical scenarios of them being “tethered” together and a bead of sweat forming on her forehead. She was left utterly speechless.
“As long as you promise not to get jealous so easily, I won’t run away,” Julia added while holding the small jade statue in her hand. There were certain matters she still needed to clarify.
After Julia finished speaking, she realized that the man did not intend to release her from his embrace. So, she continued, “It was my fault for not informing you earlier, which led to this misunderstanding. In light of that, you can set a condition, and I’ll meet it as compensation.” Jared’s eyes immediately sparkled with interest.
