Chapter 254: Jared and Randel Confront Julia
“Jared, please, let me explain,” Julia pleaded.
She understood Jared’s jealousy, and she empathized with his feelings. If their positions were reversed, she might have felt just as helpless as he did now.
Jared’s restraint had reached its limits in this situation.
Yannie, unable to contain her frustration, rose from her seat and angrily berated Julia, “There’s no need to listen to her excuses! This woman is shameless. I saw through her from the day she entered this house. First, she ensnared my son, and now she’s set her sights on Randel. She’s audacious and thick–skinned!”
Her face flushed with anger. Yannie couldn’t contain her outrage. Jared was her son, and Randel was a beloved family member. Julia’s presence had led to discord between the two.
To Yannie, Julia was nothing but trouble, a source of chaos that the Brooks family could not tolerate.
Julia frowned and looked concerned at Randel, caring more about his feelings than her reputation.
“It’s my fault, but I understand you don’t want to see me. You’ve always wished for Cameron to be your daughter–in–law. Randel and I are just good friends.”
Julia’s words were intended to shield Randel from any harm caused by the situation. She spoke up for him, making it clear that there was nothing romantic between them.
Jared’s anger had already reached a boiling point. Julia’s protective stance toward Randel only fueled his fury further. Without waiting for any more arguments, he firmly grasped Julia’s hand. and pulled her out of the room.
At first, Julia was caught off guard, stumbling as Jared dragged her along.
Randel furrowed his brow with concern and hurriedly caught up, saying, “There’s a
misunderstanding here. She and I don’t have that kind of relationship. She’s here to help me with my illness. Hurting her won’t solve anything.”
Jared found some relief in Randel’s explanation, but Randel’s final words sparked a trace of anger within him.
“This is a matter between us as husband and wife, and it doesn’t concern you.”
With those words, Jared continued pulling Julia toward the car.
“Hey! Jared, you’re hurting me! Can you calm down and listen to me?” Julia’s face paled, looking visibly distressed.
Seeing Julia’s distress, Randel instinctively rushed over and grabbed her hand. His voice was frustrated as he spoke, “Can’t you see she’s not feeling well?”
Randel didn’t quite understand why he felt compelled to protect Julia when he saw her seemingly “bullied.” It was an instinctual reaction he couldn’t explain.
Jared’s eyes narrowed, emitting a cold, piercing glare, and his lips remained tightly sealed, forming a straight, icy line.
Randel refused to release Julia’s hand, fearing that Jured might continue to mistreat her.
“Let go!” Jared commanded Randel with an unwavering tone that couldn’t be ignored.
Randel frowned, aware that he had no authority in this situation. After all, they were husband and

wife, and this misunderstanding had partly been his fault.
“Perhaps we should calm down first and clarify this matter.”
“Yes, yes, yes!” Julia agreed, desperately seeking a resolution. “He’s right; this is all a misunderstanding. Please listen to our explanation.”
“We…” This word triggered Jared deeply.
As Julia grappled with how to explain, Yannie suddenly lunged forward, striking Julia across the face without a word.
Julia barely managed to dodge the blow, but Yannie’s nails still left a scratch on her cheek, drawing blood.
Seeing that her slap had failed, Yannie raised her hand for another strike, but Julia was quickly pulled backward by Jared and then Randel, with both men stepping in front of her.
“You-! Are you still protecting her?” Yannie was losing her
composure.
Had their Brooks family wronged someone in a past life? Why did they have to deal with pests like Julia?
“Get out of the way!”
Jared’s brow furrowed. “Mom, you don’t need to concern yourself with this.”
Jared’s gaze then shifted to Randel’s hand holding Julia’s. As Randel noticed Jared’s gaze, he released Julia’s hand, but an inexplicable sense of loss washed over him. It felt as though he had lost something precious, leaving him with an indescribable emptiness and discomfort.
Jared turned his attention to Julia’s face, which bore the red marks from Yannie’s nails. The scratches stood out starkly against her fair complexion.
He slowly raised his hand but let it drop again. Julia tightly pressed her thin lips together and spoke coldly, “Follow me.”
This time, Jared’s grip on Julia’s hand was gentler and less forceful than before.
Julia glanced back at Randel with an apologetic look in her eyes. She couldn’t help but acknowledge his presence.
He was still watching! Was he really that attractive?
Jared grasped Julia’s hand once more and pulled her into the car. On the way back, neither of them uttered a word, and the atmosphere inside the car grew increasingly tense.
Upon arriving back at the villa, Jared promptly escorted Julia to their room. The servants wisely busied themselves with their tasks, sensing the urgency of the situation.
Inside the room, Jared wasted no time pulling up Julia’s clothing.
“What are you doing?!” Julia protested, crossing her arms protectively over herself. It was winter, and she was bundled up in thick clothes. She feared that with Jared’s swift actions, she might end up as exposed as a peeled egg.
“Inspect,” Jared persisted with his task.
“Rip!” The clothes tore with a sound.
“Forget it!” Julia retorted in frustration. “Jared, who do you think I am? I told you it’s all a misunderstanding. I went to Randel to help him with his treatment. Why won’t you believe me?” “Ha! Treatment? Then why were you hiding under the table? Are you sure you’re not up to some mischief?” Jared’s jealousy was ablaze, and Julia’s explanations only seemed to fan the flames.

He needed to verify things for himself, down to the smallest detail.
“Rip, rip-”
“That’s enough, Jared!” Julia seized the man’s hair and firmly pushed his shoulders, her face a mixture of anger and embarrassment.
After a brief pause, Jared resumed his inspection, his actions growing increasingly intense.
