Chapter 240: Abduction and Threats
Cameron’s eyes glinted at her own thoughts. “Of course, she posted the footage in her defense. But no matter how I think about it, I think she just used her father. This might be her plan from the get–go,” Cameron pondered, her face displaying a hint of fear at Julia’s capabilities. Yannie scowled, brows furrowing as Cameron‘ s ideas didn’t convince her.
“She posted it in defense to protect her and her company. There’s nothing else,” Yannie insisted.
She had extensively investigated Julia, so she knew fully about Julia‘ s circumstances with the Watsons.
Philip was wrong to favor his stepdaughter over his own daughter. To make matters worse, he had set Julia up with an old man in his late fifties, leading to the ultimate rift between the father and daughter. And that was Julia’s last straw.
Cameron grew anxious and resentful when her stepmother spoke up for Julia.
“I guess you’re too nice, Mom. I know Julia wanted to protect herself. But she could have used this incident as leverage against her father, maybe to make him apologize or probably to exact some sort of revenge. I have a feeling she had anticipated that moment.”
While on that note, Cameron recollected a memory of her brother and Julia.
“Could it be that Julia just instigated her first encounter with Jared at the Civil Affairs Bureau? I asked one of Jared’s servants in his house, and Julia didn’t seem appalled or anything. Could it be that she knew Jared in advance?”
Yannie’s eyes went round in horror. The conflict between Julia and her father didn’t faze her. But it was hard to control her emotions if her son was involved.
“That cunning woman,” she murmured, gritting her teeth.
Cameron wore a sinister smile upon seeing her troubled mother.
“There’s more to it, I haven’t just told you. The last time Julia came to see you, she suddenly touched me. After that, she complained of cramps and heavy bleeding, so I had someone find out what happened to her. It turned out she was just having her period while everyone was blaming me. I felt so wronged. You didn’t believe me back then,” Cameron explained, tears brimming
eyes, her expression reflecting a deep sense of hurt.

Yannie realized Cameron’s tears and pain were genuine. She instantly regretted what she had done. From now on, she wouldn’t doubt Cameron’s words as she had no reason to lie at all, even if she had her investigated. She quickly inched toward Cameron and locked her in her arms.
“I’m sorry, my daughter. It’s my fault for not believing you. From now on, I’ll believe everything you say. So stop crying now, okay? I’ve watched you grow up, so I know you‘ re not that kind of person. I promise that if anything happens like this again, I’ll believe you and stay by your side.”
“Thank you, Mother!” Cameron wept like a child as Yannie stroked her head. Cameron tightly wrapped her arms around Yannie, nuzzling in her embrace.
Cameron reminded Yannie of Juju. Just like Cameron, Juju wanted to be sweet–talked and be loved. A pang of pain ran through Yannie’s heart. She could have also hugged her this way if she had only protected Juju well. But Juju was already gone, so she had to protect Cameron in her place. The pain seemed to lessen by now, thanks to Cameron.

Abduction and Threats
Philip was completely dumbfounded upon seeing the video footage. Originally, he had intended to use public opinion to tarnish the reputation of the two siblings and make them realize the consequences of being ungrateful to their father. If they wouldn’t hand over the company, he’d be sure to destroy it.
He had never expected such a dramatic turn of events. His intended slap in the face had backfired terribly. Watching the video of himself yelling at Julia and Conrad, his tears streamed. He appeared nothing short of a true villain. The comments from netizens under the video only added to his humiliation.
[I pity Julia and Conrad for having a father like him.]
[Woah! To think I have sided with him first! Sir, I might have already buried you alive if you were my father.]
Julia is admirable. Good thing she abandoned him the way he abandoned her before.]
“Damn it!” Philip furiously hurled his phone on the floor, shattering it into pieces.
Yasmin trembled in fear at her father’s actions.
On the other hand, Natalia rolled her eyes, coming up with an idea. “This isn’t going to work. That bitch is just so vicious. Their company is rapidly flourishing at the moment. If this continues, we will suffer.”
“Can you
shut your trap for a moment?” Philip blurted out in irritation. Natalia and Yasmin both gasped at his hurtful words.
“I’m sorry, okay? I just- I don’t know what to do anymore. I need to find a solution quickly. I can’t let their company thrive.”
“What should I do?” Philip sat on the couch, scratching his head. The bald patch on his scalp had. grown more visible, and him scratching it like crazy caused several strands of hair to fall out.
“I have an idea, Honey.”
Philip momentarily lit up in anticipation.
“What is it?” He peered at her intently, eager for answers.
Natalia let out a smile before moving closer to him. “Julia’s just a young woman with nothing. No matter how much trouble she causes, it won’t amount that much. But Conrad’s different. First of all, he had the company under his name. And who does he care about the most?”
“The woman who has nothing. What are you trying to say? Are you trying to tell me to have her kidnapped?”
“Right. Her life in exchange for his company,” Natalia brutally suggested, her main motive being her own ambitions.
If they ever acquired that company, her status as a magnate’s wife would skyrocket. She’d hold more power and influence.
Philip scoffed in disbelief. “How is that a good idea? Threatening my son with my own daughter doesn’t seem like something decent people do.”
Natalia chuckled inwardly. Since when was he a decent man?
“Honey, don’t be so naive. You treated them well. It was them who were ungrateful. You shouldn’t regard yourself as their father, either. They threw you out of the company mercilessly. Tell me, are they decent human beings?”
Chapter 240: Abduction and Threats
Luckily for Natalia, Philip seemed to be convinced. She knew very well how to push his buttons. His expression darkened visibly.
Natalia covertly glanced at Yasmin and nodded. Yasmin quickly understood what her mother meant. She poured a cup of hot water and handed it to Philip.
“Dad, don’t get too upset. Have some water and soothe your throat.”
Philip looked up at her dutiful daughter before glancing back at his wife. His heart skipped a beat upon seeing his kind and grateful family.
“I get it. I’ll have someone do the arrangements,” he said, picking up his wrecked phone on the ground.
