Chapter 223: Jared Personally Came To Arrest Julia
Randel is really kind to Juju. As long as she wants something, one can guarantee that he will cross all seas and catch all the stars to give it to her. Jared remembered that once, when the three of them were playing in the park, Juju mentioned that she wanted cotton candy. Shortly after that, Randel disappeared, and a little while later, he came back with a pink cotton candy in his hand. There was also a time when Randel and Juju went to pick peaches from a tree, and she slipped from one of the branches. Instead of letting her hit the ground, Randel used himself as a cushion to catch her. In the end, he was the one who got injured.
“Everything was burned completely, and the fire left no fucking trace…” Randel gritted his teeth, tearing up a little after recalling the traumatic scene. He looked at Jared, aware of all the things the latter did. “And after all these years, one thing still gets me confused. Jared, where is the little jade statue she gave you back then?”
Randel remembered the time when Juju proposed to Jared, and though it was painful, it was embedded in his memories. ‘Why does another person have it? Was it stolen? Did he give it away?‘ he thought, almost exploding from anger.
Jared frowned, “Why are you asking about this?”
“Because I want an answer.”
“I put it in a very safe place,” Jared replied with squinted eyes.
‘A very safe place?‘ Randel scoffed, knowing damn well the woman’s neck just now isn’t exactly a safe place. “Are you sure it hasn’t been stolen?” he asked with a sharp tone.
Jared fell silent, and after a few deep breaths, he replied, “It hasn’t been stolen. As I’ve said, it’s in a very safe place.”
“You better check,” Randel said and broke away from the grip of Jared’s guards. Then, he turned around, walking away in a sleek manner as if nothing happened.
“What the? Where are you going?” Jared asked, stopping his guards from running after Randel.
“Home,” Randel said.
“My mother misses you very much,” Jared suddenly said, his eyes pinned on Randel‘ s back, yet the latter didn’t bother stopping.
Randel kept walking as he answered, “I could care less. I will continue seeking revenge for Juju.
Jared heard the stubbornness and determination in Randel’s words, so he had no choice but to say, “In that case, I won’t stop you. If you have time, you are welcome to come to visit my family when you can.”
For a second, Randel paused. However, he still didn’t say anything. He just kept walking, leaving Jared and his guards behind. The moonlight shone brightly, and Jared pursed his lips.
‘Why did he suddenly ask about the jade statue? Also, who is he with? I know damn well he isn’t alone… Why did he protect that person, anyway?‘
And so, Jared carefully recalled the figure of the girl just now, and the more he thought about it, the more familiar she became. Things slowly made sense, and Jared found himself dialing Julia‘ number.
Meanwhile, as soon as Julia got into her getaway car, she received a call from Jared.
At that time, she felt guilty and flustered. ‘Shit! Does he know that it was me?! She shook her head repeatedly. “No! Calm down, Julia… Maybe he’s calling for another reason.”

After calming down, Júlia put on a smile and answered the call cheerfully. “Hey… It’s so late. Why are you calling instead of sleeping?”
“I can’t sleep. I want to go to your place. Would that be fine?” His voice was calm and charming, and Julia felt as though there was nothing wrong. It seems that he didn’t find anything.
“It’s so late, though. Won’t you feel tired?”
Jared chuckled. “Do you just not want me to go there? Am I bothering you?”
Julia could feel the sullen voice of the man, and she felt her shoulders drop. Just then, Jared made things worse because, in a needy voice, he said, “I can’t sleep without you.”
Upon hearing him say that in a provocative manner, Julia couldn’t stop her heart from beating widely. She felt defeated, but after a while, she managed to calm down.
“This is nothing, Julia. That man has been popping in and out of your room these past few days, acting as if he was sleepwalking. You‘ ve learned to ignore his presence, so don‘ t swoon from his words!‘ she told herself and recalled another time when Shiloh said that Jared had insomnia. All of a sudden, a pang of guilt took over her heart. She knew how sound Jare‘ d sleep was whenever they shared the same bed. He could only fall asleep if he was holding her. So, she felt somehow obligated. “Fine…”
After the call, Julia had no time to contemplate. She realized that she had to speed home in order to make it seem like she wasn‘ t sneaking out all this time.
A little while later, a knock came through the door of the lovely home at Purple Garden Manor. Conrad opened the door and was surprised to see Jared there.“Uhm, are you here to see her?” He was in a dilemma. Conrad just received a call from Julia, saying that she would be back soon and asked him to stall Jared if he arrived first.
‘Damn it… Conrad thought.
Jared nodded and looked at Julia’s room upstairs.“Yeah.” Then, he passed by the stupefied Conrad. The latter was an honest man, so he couldn’t think of a lie to hold Jared back, nor think of something interesting to make him stop in his tracks. All he could do was hover next to the visitor anxiously.
Just then, Maddie came out of Julia’s room, and she had a curious expression. “Oh, you‘ re here. Uhm, Julia is taking a shower in her room,” she said just in time for Jared to reach the doorstep of the bedroom. Jared took a peek and indeed heard the sound of running water.
At that moment, Maddie felt as if her heart was about to explode because if Jared insisted on coming in, then her preface would be exposed, too. Yes, they were all in the lie,
And so, Jared looked at them and decided to walk inside the room. He sat on the bed, letting both Conrad and Maddie know that she would be waiting for Julia to supposedly come out of the shower. Conrad and Maddie exchanged meaningful looks, out of options and rattled about how to play this. Little did they know, Jared already had an idea that these two were duping him.
A minute later, Jared looked up at Maddie and Conrad. “It’s getting late. You two go to sleep. I’ll wait for her here.”
“Oh… Okay,” the two said with hesitation. Maddie and Conrad knew that if they stayed here any longer, they would definitely arouse Jared’s suspicion, so they had no choice but to leave.
With that, Maddie sent a message to Julia.

“Julia, come back already! I turned on the shower in the bathroom and said you were taking a shower, but Jared insisted on waiting for you to finish. He’s right outside the shower room, so we couldn’t stay there any longer. I left a ladder right in front of your bathroom window. Be careful!”
A few minutes had passed, and Jared felt a little bored from sitting, so he decided to get up and walk to the balcony of Julia’s room. He stretched his limbs and looked at the scenery when he heard a thud from down below. He took a peek and pursed his lips. “What the…”
