Chapter 197: Triplets!
Conrad became concerned when he heard Julia’s words and reprimanded her, “Julia, if your stomach isn’t feeling well, you should go easy on the fruits.”
“Okay,” Julia replied before sneakily popping an orange slice into her mouth. Conrad chuckled, shaking his head with an indulgent expression. “Do you want me to warm something up for you?” “Thanks you!” Julia grinned happily like a kid.
After Conrad entered the kitchen, Julia quickly set aside her phone and checked her pulse. She was curious to understand what was going on with her body. As time passed, seconds turning into minutes, Julia’s pupils gradually dilated, her eyes filling with incredulous shock!
“Oh my goodness!”
Julia lowered her head and placed her hand on her lower abdomen.
It turned out Maddie’s ominous prediction was spot on!
Why did luck have to be on her side right from the start?
She had figured that if things got dicey, she could pop some pills and sort it out.
But-
“Three of them!!!”
Just like what Maddie had predicted, triplets!
She couldn’t just loop them back again only because of her circumstances, right?
Curses on Maddie; she’s always going on about how cool it’d be if she could have triplets for company.
And look where that got her–falling right into Maddie’s curse.
Right as Julia was nursing a headache, her phone buzzed with a call from Jared.
Seeing Jared’s name pop up, Julia’s gut went into immediate turmoil.
“Um, anything up?” Hearing the oddly different pitch in Julia’s voice, Jared’s eyebrows scrunched. in puzzlement.
“You’ve got a hint of nerves in your voice,” Jared observed. Julia mimicked a thief caught in the act, her hand pressed to her chest, her heart doing a tap dance.
“Nah, you’re imagining things. So, what’s the reason for your call?” Julia deflected, trying to steer the conversation away.
Jared’s focus stayed sharp, “Did you pull a sneaky one without my knowing? Got any apologies to hand over?”
“Where did you cook up that idea? I’m hanging out with my brother at the moment. Oh, and I won’t be home tonight. Crashin‘ at my bro’s house.”
Julia placed her hand on her belly, her head drumming with a monster of a headache. Honestly, she felt like her brain had gone for a joyride. Staying away tonight was a good call; she was curious if everything was hunky–dory, and she didn’t want Jared to catch on.
“Ding-“The doorbell’s chime cut into Julia’s thoughts. She glanced at the entrance and quickly conjured up an excuse to cut off Jared, “Hey, sorry, got someone at the door. I have to run. Catch you later.” Before Jared could react, Julia ended the call without waiting for his response.
“Sigh-” A heavy exhalation escaped her lips.

“Ding–ding-”
The persistent doorbell chimed on.
Conrad stuck his head out of the kitchen. “Julia, could you get the door?” “Absolutely, on it.”
Julia put down her phone and quickly headed toward the door, opening it.
And then- Her expression froze.
Julia stared wide–eyed in astonishment at the incredibly handsome face before her. “You, you, how did you come here?”
As she spoke, she stuttered.
“Hmm?” Jared’s voice sounded puzzled, his eyes looking at Julia scrutinizingly. He had witnessed Julia’s skill of telling white lies with wide eyes many times before, but now she was stuttering. “Something’s not right.”
“Are you really not hiding anything from me?”
Julia reflexively opened her mouth, and images of the night rain flashed through her mind, along with the realization of the triplets in her belly.
“Yeah, I… I had something cold again, and my stomach hurt a bit.”
Just then, Conrad came out of the kitchen with a plate of warm fruits.
“The fruits are warmed up, but eating less is still better.”
Jared looked at the plate of steaming fruits and suddenly understood. So, it was because of this that the girl was flustered.
During dinner, Jared brought out a bottle of wine he had brought himself and placed it in front of Julia.
“Château Lafite 1982. I know you like drinking, so I went to find this for you.”
Julia’s eyes lit up.
This wine wasn’t something you could buy just with money; it was a true collector’s item, and every bottle was precious. Many wine enthusiasts cherished it so much they couldn’t bear to drink it.
However, Julia glanced at her abdomen. She couldn’t drink now! If Maddie were here and knew that Julia was also pregnant, she would burst into laughter. Finally, someone would accompany her on this journey.
“Since your stomach isn’t feeling well, maybe you shouldn’t drink today,” Jared remembered and advised.
Julia stared at the wine that Jared took away, feeling a deep sense of resentment. However, the one feeling the most bitter and frustrated was Jared.
Jared deliberately got this wine, hoping to get Julia drunk, just like their previous encounter, to have fun. If he timed it well, around two hours would do the trick, and Julia wouldn’t be any the wiser. However, he picked the wrong day, as Julia’s stomach wasn’t cooperating, totally foiling his plan.
Finally, Julia had to sit back and watch as Jared and Conrad polished off an entire bottle of exquisite wine. Her heart was truly yearning for it!
“Julia, he’s had a bit too much. It would be best if you guided him back to your room,” Conrad said, his footing a bit unsteady and his face rosy.

“Bro, you okay? Need help getting back to your room?”
“Nah, I’m good. I Still got my balance better than him.”
Julia followed Conrad’s nod, spotted Jared draped over the table, and struggling to stand up.
Well, he was the one truly sloshed.
Julia hadn’t anticipated Jared’s low alcohol tolerance. Despite his tough exterior, she’d seen him handle his liquor well. It was quite a surprise how badly hit him this time.
“Hey, Jared, time to wake up.” Julia playfully poked Jared’s side.
Jared remained motionless. Julia extended her hand and gently adjusted his face to meet hers. She found herself mesmerized by his striking features. Getting closer, Julia scrutinized his face, her fingers eventually resting on his eyelashes. “Wow, they’re really long!”
Jared had to quell the urge inside him. Feigning drunkenness was proving more challenging than he thought! He almost slipped up just now.
Not that he was lacking in self–control, mind you. It was just that the temptation was so
powerful–Julia was close enough that he could even catch the subtle fragrance that lingered
around her.
Much like a curious child with a new toy, Julia let her finger glide down to touch the man’s nose after his eyelashes.
“You know, it’s like a small hill. Let me tell you, with your looks, if you ever decide to debut, you’d become the nation’s darling.”
Her praise flowed like sweet honey, warming Jared’s heart. He wasn’t interested in being any nation’s sweetheart; he just wanted to be hers.
As Jared anticipated her fingers to continue their playful exploration, Julia abruptly stopped, no longer indulging in the teasing touch.
It left him feeling disappointed momentarily. “Why did you drink so much?” Julia questioned, looping her arm around the man’s and supporting him. Worried about tiring Julia, Jared moved in sync, his arm gently encircling her waist, feeling its softness and suppleness. His chin found a resting spot on her neck. As they navigated the stairs, he cleverly used the rhythm of the inch closer, resulting in their lips softly grazing one another amid the sway–a delicate, fragrant touch.
