Pregnant!
Chapter 196: Really Pregnant!
“Do you think we just arrest people randomly without evidence?” The police officer’s words hit Lilian and Carter like bricks.
They both stood frozen for ten seconds before gradually snapping out of their mental freeze. Mechanically, they turned their heads towards Vivien.
At this moment, Vivien’s face was as pale as paper, her dilated pupils filled with shock. “Vivien, it’s you who did this?” Carter looked at Vivien with an incredulous gaze.
Lilian’s gaze at Vivien was equally skeptical. “Vivien, tell your mom the truth honestly. Did this?”

do
Vivien was so anxious that her tears were on the verge of falling. She honestly hadn’t expected her plan to be exposed. Before she could even figure out how to respond to Carter and Lilian, the police officer brought out handcuffs and directly restrained her hands. This time, Vivien truly started crying, scared into tears.
“No, it wasn’t me, I… I didn’t do it, I…”
“Get in the car.” Vivien tried to deny the accusation, but the police officer’s stern expression silenced Vivien’s protest. Though she could use schemes against Julia, she dared not challenge an officer in uniform.
In the end, the police car drove away with Vivien in it.
Julia captured this scene on camera and immediately sent it to Lincoln.
“What are you doing? Why did you take photos? You’re so malicious!” Lilian couldn’t help but see through Julia’s intentions. It seemed like she was trying to rub salt in the wound.
“Yep, that’s me, the master of malice. I’ve taken a page out of Vivien’s book. Whatever she throws my way, I’ll give it back twofold,” Julia remarked with an air of calm confidence.
“Wow, you’re something else, openly confessing to being malicious. Thankfully, my son saw through you and dumped you. He didn’t let you into our Ross family!” Lilian jabbed her finger at Julia, and her anger was evident in her trembling fingertips.
Julia smirked faintly. “Yeah, your son’s judgment is really something. After all, his fiancée ended up in the police station.”
Julia’s words hit Lilian like a slap, her face changing colors like a flashing traffic light–red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple.
After a momentary pause, Lilian shifted her gaze to Carter, her voice rising in scolding. “It’s all your fault! If you hadn’t been entangled with Julia all this time, Vivien wouldn’t have been driven to do such a thing. A woman’s jealousy is strong. Don’t be fooled by Vivien’s usual nonchalant appearance. You have to understand, she loves you so much. How could she not care? It’s all your fault! Yours!”
In her
anger, Lilian started to kick and punch her son. Carter was jolted awake by Lilian’s blows. “It’s my fault, and I shouldn’t have been so entangled with Julia.” Looking up at Julia, he continued, “You were right. I wasn’t worthy of Vivien.”
Julia subtly rolled her eyes upward. You know that saying, right? “If you find someone visually appealing, you’ll always find them appealing. And If you find someone visually urtappealing, you’ll never find them appealing.”
Carter and Lilian liked Vivien, while she was the one they disliked.
But mission accomplished. Julia only aimed to get Vivien in jail, to face the consequences, her image ruined, and netizens tearing her apart.
“Hey Julie, get in here already. I just whipped up a fruit platter.” Conrad called out from the doorway, waving at Julie. Conrad had seen Julia a bit carlier, but since she seemed busy giving that family a piece of her mind, he decided not to disturb her. He had put together a fruit platter, thinking she could munch on it and recharge once she was done.
“Sure thing, I’m on my way.” Julia’s gaze landed on Conrad by the door, and it was like spotting a comforting beacon in the dark.
Her face brightened with a joyful smile, and she hurried over to that source of warmth. Conrad raised his hand and ruffled Julia’s hair. She playfully allowed him to mess with her hair, giving him a cute and obedient look.
“Bro, did you make a fruit platter with my beloved oranges?”
“Of course, oranges are a must. Slip on your shoes, and let’s head in. The weather doesn’t look great. They’re saying it might snow in the next couple of days. If you’re going out, make sure to bundle up.”
“I caught that, too. The news is talking about a chance of light snow today. Not sure if it’ll happen. But if not today, it’s surely coming tomorrow. They’re predicting a good snowfall tomorrow, so who knows, we might be in for some snowman–building the day after tomorrow.”
The heartwarming scene at the doorstep starkly contrasted with Carter’s eyes. Julia’s innocent and vibrant smile was a sight he hadn’t seen in a long time.
In the past, Julia smiled at him like that, genuinely happy and content. But he should have paid more attention to it. It had become so habitual that he didn’t think much of it.
But now, that kind of smile was no longer for him, and a sudden sense of loneliness and emptiness crept over Carter. At that moment, Lilian’s annoyed voice reached his ears. “These siblings, they’re acting so heartless. Vivien has been taken away, and they’re still smiling. It’s disgusting!”
After hearing that, Carter turned to Lilian with a puzzled expression, his thoughts in turmoil. “1- seriously don’t get how the owner of Villa 8, that young master from the Cresco Enterprise, could be acquainted with Julia?” According to Mao Wenlan, Lincoln was the owner of Villa 8.
“Bet it’s that sneaky Julia, using all sorts of tricks, maybe even slipping some love potion to the Cresco Enterprise young master, enticing him with a striptease. Otherwise, how on earth could that awful Julia catch the Cresco Enterprise young master’s eye?”
Lilian’s words were getting harsher by the second, and Carter had had enough. “Mom, I doubt Lincoln and Julia are like that. Her potential partner isn’t Lincoln; it’s someone named Brooks,”
“Come on, that’s ridiculous! Even if that scheming Julia managed to hook up with Lincoln, do you think his parents would accept her into their family? Our family doesn’t want her, and I’m sure the Hoffmans wouldn’t either,” Lilian’s words escalated, each one more cutting than the last, and Carter squirmed in response.
But Lilian was his mother–what could he say? “Mom, you should head back first. I’m heading to the police station.”
“Sure, just make sure you bring Vivien back. She must be feeling pretty down by herself,” Lilian expressed with a touch of concern. “No worries, I’ve got it.”
In Villa 8, Julia was munching on a fruit platter while casually scrolling through Twitter. The Twitter comments were flooded with insults aimed at Vivien.
Chapter 196: Really Pregnant!
[Wow, people sure have a lot of free time these days. A few days ago, I thought Julia was running a side hustle. Turns out, it was all cooked up by her rival.]
[Man, this is messing with my worldview. If this is how it went down, isn’t the guy from the Ross Group a real jerk? His girl got harassed, and instead of having her back, he formed a long–term. partnership with the harasser.]
[Ugh, what a jerk! Total scumbag move! And Vivien, seriously? She’s like a home–wrecking tornado! It’s bad enough if she’s the side piece, but now she’s dragging Julia through the mud, too. That’s just too cruel!]
Among these netizens, of course, there were also the hired online trolls by Lincoln, shaping the narrative. Julia received a call from Lincoln, “Boss, did you enjoy it?”
“Yeah, well done! I owe you a meal. I feel a bit-” Julia suddenly retched.
Hearing the “retching” sound, Lincoln, on the other end of the call, was taken aback.
“No, no, it’s not… Boss, you’re not, by any chance, pregnant?”
“Pregnant with your big–headed ghost! It’s just my stomach feeling uncomfortable.” That’s what Julia said, but her mind was full of doubts.
