Chapter 187: You Really Treated Me Last Night
How did she return to her room in Benison Villa? Didn’t she sing with Wolf Five at KTV last night? “Could this be a dream?”
Just as Julia almost convinced herself of this, the phone rang loudly.
Julia looked at the phone. Its bright screen showed “Wolf Five” as the caller.
If this was a dream, it seemed strangely natural.
So, this must be a reality, not a dream.
“Hello?”
“Boss, how are you doing? Feeling better?” Lincoln’s caring voice came from the other end of the phone.
“I’m okay, though I had too much to drink. My head still hurts. By the way, let me ask you something. Why am I at Brooks’s house? Didn’t I spend time with you last night?”
After hearing her words, Lincoln quickly understood what was going on.
“Boss, you drank alcohol again! But not as much as before!” Lincoln got to the point, “We don’t know the specifics. You said you were going to the bathroom, and then you didn’t come back for a long time, so Alexander called you.”
Julia nodded while remembering what Lincoln had said. “And then?” She asked, wondering what happened next.
“Then I heard the person from Brooks’s place answer the phone. He said-”
But before he could continue, Julia’s voice interrupted him. “Huh?” She raised her eyebrows and added, “What did he say?”
“He said you were asleep and told us not to disturb his wife’s sleep. Then, Alexander got drunk.” Julia sighed and rubbed her temples, following Lincoln’s words and trying to remember. Gradually, she began to recollect some things.
Last night, probably due to her bad mood, she felt dizzy after a few glasses of wine. She used the excuse of going to the bathroom to freshen up her face.
While recovering some of the shortly forgotten memories, Carter’s unpleasant face suddenly flashed on her mind.
Carter!
With widened eyes, Julia roared, “I remember!”
Julia splashed some water on her face, hoping to sober up. But when she returned, she entered the wrong private room, Carter’s. A conflict ensues, and she has beaten Carter quite a bit.
The memory after that started to blur, but it wasn’t entirely absent. Julia vaguely recalled Jared’s appearance and then nothing. If she continued to think about it, the memories remained fuzzy and her headaches so much.
Julia looked around the room, finding no surprises, It was probably Jared who brought her back. Though she didn’t know how Jared had managed it, the fact that she was here now meant the previous conflict was likely resolved.
As Julia was lost in thought, Lincoln’s worried voice caught her attention again. “Boss, you didn’t get taken advantage of by the Brooks family last night, did you?”

She shook her head and stated firmly, “Jared isn’t that kind of
person.”
Jared hadn’t taken advantage of her when she took herbal medicine before; he wouldn’t do it now when she was vulnerable. So she trusted him more than anyone if that was the case.
“I don’t know about that, but boss, you got drunk and undressed…” Lincoln paused, not needing to finish the sentence.
Julia opened her mouth, belatedly recalling this unfortunate habit of hers when she was intoxicated. She quickly lifted the quilt and checked herself. Her clothes were still intact. She knew Jared wasn’t the type to exploit someone’s vulnerability.
“Everything was fine last night, so don’t worry,” she told Lincoln, even though the possibility of embarrassing herself in front of Jared was there.
“That’s good. I’ll inform Alexander so he won’t overthink.”
After ending the call, Julia set the phone aside and got out of bed. When she moved, she felt a pang of pain in her waist.
She then wondered why she was sore. When she walked, her lower back wasn’t the only thing. hurting; her legs were also numb. There was discomfort that extended down to her stomach. The feeling was all too familiar, but she didn’t know how or what it caused.
Reaching for the door, Julia halted suddenly after taking a step. Her pupils dilated.
It made sense now why the feeling was familiar. Some time ago, after that passionate night with the man, she experienced back pain and lower abdomen discomfort like this.
Could it be that Jared really took advantage of her vulnerability and did that last night?
Before Julia could ponder further, that deep, velvety voice resonated in her ears. “Are you awake now? I’ve asked the kitchen to prepare bird’s nest soup for you. Do now? I’ll bring it up.”
you want it
Upon hearing this, Julia was taken aback for a moment, then turned to look at the man after a brief pause.
The man wore dark blue loose home clothes and matching slippers. His attire was ordinary, but the more he looked this way, the more she appreciated his appearance.
She had to admit, Jared was genuinely handsome, the kind of attraction that radiated like the sun and moon. His face was so divine that the world seemed to brighten when you turned to look at him.
Thinking about it now, she hadn’t seen his face for a whole day and night, making it feel like they were apart much longer than they really were.
For a moment, she didn’t know what to say. Seeing Julia quiet, Jared raised an eyebrow and walked closer. “Are you not feeling well?”
His deep, rich voice sounded so close and soothing that it almost felt intoxicating.
Julia watched him as he came closer, her heart felt warm. Strangely, her eyes started filling with
tears.
“Are you hungry? You may want to freshen up first. You could have some bird’s nest soup, and I’ll ask Selina to prepare a meal.”
His voice was soft and comforting, making Julia feel like a fragile doll that needed care. It was as if a gentle touch could easily break her. You could almost feel the man’s concern just from thinking

about it.
“Well, about last night…”
As Julia began, Jared’s expression involuntarily tensed. Did she remember what happened last night?
Last night, Jared had rushed things out of fear that she would wake up and react strongly. Could Julia still suspect he had done what he did last night?
Jared was worried, but he maintained a façade of nonchalance. “You had too much to drink last night. Just like last time, you undressed while drunk. Luckily, I intervened in time. If not, Carter might have taken advantage of you.”
Hearing his explanation, Julia blinked, thinking, “That was it? Nothing else had happened?‘ She bit her lips when she realized that it looked like she was hoping for something to happen between her and Jared.
What the hell!
Unconsciously, Julia rubbed her lower back, feeling the pain crawling like ants on her body.
Jared noticed it and asked, “What’s wrong? Does your back hurt?” Jared looked knowingly at Julia’s lower back.
Julia was about to say something but hesitated. How should she phrase her question properly without Jared misinterpreting what she meant? Should she ask him outright if he had done that?
Would that imply doubt about his gentlemanly character?
Couldn’t decide what to do, Julia said cautiously, “Uh, yes, it’s a little uncomfortable. My legs and my stomach–uh, I mean, my abdomen is also uneasy.”
Having asked, she stared at Jared, searching his face for any hint. She failed. His expression remained as composed as ever, revealing no indication of a slip.
Could she be overthinking this? But then, how did she explain her aching back, numb legs, and discomfort in her lower abdomen?
Finally, Jared replied, “It’s my fault.”
When Julia heard those three words, she panicked internally.
What was Jared’s fault? Did he really do something to Julia, and now he was trying to apologize to her? What did he mean by that?
“Ah?” Julia was taken aback. She asked, “Are you referring to how you cared for me last night?”
“Right!” Jared’s answer was so fast it interrupted Julia’s words.
