Upon seeing Julia in her current state, Carter felt a sense of relief wash over him for having followed after her. He recognized the potential dangers she could face if left alone in such a state, vulnerable to ill–intentioned individuals.
Carter’s gaze
honed in on Julia’s torn neckline, or rather, the missing button that exposed at fraction of her collarbone and fair neck. In reality, it was a minor detail–just a button missing–revealing a normal–sized portion of her collarbone and neck. Nevertheless, this seemingly insignificant sight captivated Carter’s attention in a way it hadn’t before. He realized that Julia’s skin was remarkably fair. Having observed Vivien’s complexion, he now saw that Julia’s was even paler by comparison.
Not only that, but Julia’s skin possessed a suppleness and translucency that set it apart from Vivien’s. It was reminiscent of a freshly peeled egg or the delicate shoots of a lotus covered in morning dew. The allure was irresistible, prompting one to swallow saliva.
Her body’s subtle movements mirrored the rhythm of her irregular breaths, akin to a pulsating
heartbeat.
Comparing Julia and Vivien, it struck him that Vivien resembled a small hill within a vast plain–distinct yet unassuming. In contrast, Julia stood like a towering mountain, a presence that couldn’t be overlooked.
As he compared the two women, he suddenly thought, ‘Why didn’t I notice this before?” Carter’s brows furrowed as he delved into memories of Julia from the past. It dawned on him that her clothing style used to be different from what it was now.
Before, Julia had been more conservative and traditional in her attire. She habitually wore clothing that even older generations would deem outdated–loose garments devoid of makeup or
effort to follow fashion trends. She had projected an aura of antiquity.

Not only that, but Julia used to be passive, doing whatever he asked of her. Aside from being intimate with her, she lacked presence and enthusiasm, unlike Vivien, who was gentle but took the initiative when needed and wore clothes that made people want to abandon work. In the end, Vivien’s charm proved irresistible.
The contrast became even starker as Julia changed over time, growing into a figure who would. bully Vivien and engage in actions that caused harm to his mother. It was these changes that pushed Carter to relinquish any attachment to Julia.
With her lips slightly parted, Julia’s breaths escaped in warm puffs, her chest rising and falling. Her face bore a hue reminiscent of cooked shrimp.
“How are you feeling? Let me take you back to the private room to rest,” Carter offered, attempting to embrace Julia’s waist.
Her response was immediate and forceful. Julia forcefully repelled Carter’s touch and erupted, “Go away! Who gave you the right to lay a hand on me!”
At this moment, Julia’s consciousness was on the verge of being completely consumed. Her vision was so blurry that she could hardly see anything.
But her mind was still clear. She still recognized that the person in front of her was Carter. And she definitely didn’t want this disgusting man to touch her.
“Julia, don’t be irrational. You’re so drunk now. What can you do if I don’t help you now and encounter someone with bad intentions?” Carter implored, his brows knitting in concern.

“Mind your own business! In my eyes, you’re the worst kind of person! A villain!” Julia spat out with vehement anger, her glare fixed on Carter.
Julia continued to glare without realizing that her attractive phoenix eyes, full of anger, had a subtle upward tilt that seemed to possess a seductive hook capable of captivating souls.
Carter instinctively shifted his gaze up and down, his self–control teetering on the edge.
Julia’s allure was simply overwhelming at that moment.
Just then, a thought popped up in Carter’s mind. ‘Could the businessmen have said earlier true? That Julia loved me so much that she reacted extremely that way?‘
Pondering it, Carter felt it must be the case. Otherwise, why would Julia be giving him such a tempting look? It seemed clear that she was attempting to seduce him, her actions meticulously planned, from deliberately getting intoxicated to entering his private room, creating the opportunity for something to transpire between them. Thinking of this, Carter looked at the unbuttoned collar of Julia’s clothing. With all that had unfolded, a puzzle began to piece itself together in his mind.
Convinced that he had deciphered her intentions correctly, he concluded that Julia was intentionally trying to entice him.
“Julia, I know you resent me but still have feelings for me. I have also considered whether we can return to how things were. But now I’m with Vivien, and she can’t live without me. If I’m not there for her, she won’t survive. So, I can’t rekindle our old relationship. However… If you really want me to accompany you tonight, I’m willing to grant you that one time, but I hope you won’t come looking for me again in the future,” Carter declared, a touch of haughtiness in his tone.
To Julia, it felt like a persistent fly was buzzing around her ears, ceaselessly provoking her irritation.
“Carter! Have you completely lost your mind?” she exclaimed, her forehead creasing in disbelief.
Just as Julia uttered these words, Jared emerged from the private room and unexpectedly caught wind of her statement.
Henry observed Jared’s sudden stillness in the doorway. Perplexed, he asked, “What’s wrong? You’re not drunk, are you?”
Jared’s brows furrowed, and after a brief pause, he responded, “I think I heard her voice just now.”
“Her? Who? Which one?” Henry asked, confused.
After a moment, Henry connected the dots. “Her? You mean Julia?” he exclaimed in astonishment.
Henry scanned the surroundings but only spotted passing waiters. No one else was present.
“Jared, are you imagining things? How could Julia possibly be here? She went to her brother’s place. Did you forget?” Henry reasoned.
Jared’s expression dimmed upon hearing Henry’s words. It seemed like he was just indeed hallucinating.
As Jared contemplated this, the furious voice of a woman resounded once more.
“Do
you think the entire world revolves around you? Have you ever taken a good look at yourself? While you were with me, your mind was constantly fixated on Vivien. And now that you’re with Vivien, you’ve come back to pester me. And you’re pretending to be this devoted, sentimental man. Are you nauseating or what?” The voice grew louder, filling the corridor.

Henry hesitated momentarily before blinking in realization. “It really sounds like her. It’s Jiang

Before Henry could finish his sentence, Jared was already striding purposefully toward the source. of the sound.
Henry hurriedly followed suit. As they turned to the corner, they indeed saw Julia and Carter standing together nearby.
‘What on earth is happening?‘ Henry wondered, feeling thoroughly perplexed.
Seeing that Jared didn’t approach, Henry didn’t know what to say. All they could do was stand beside each other and watch.
Carter stared at Julia with a cold and gloomy expression. After a deep breath, he spoke, “You cursed me so harshly, but what about yourself? It was clearly you who suddenly appeared in my private room, and it was clearly you who pestered me. Now you’re turning it around and saying that I’m the one pestering you? Julia, you really care about your image, don’t you?” Carter countered, his tone sharp.
Henry audibly sucked in a breath, his neck stiff as he turned to look at Jared, whose face could only be described as “terrifying.”
Julia’s fury had reached its pinnacle. She had endured enough. Determinedly, she lifted her foot and struck Carter’s vulnerable point with force.
“Ugh…” Carter’s pained groan escaped him as he doubled over, clutching his vulnerable area.
Without a word, Julia then forcefully elbowed Carter’s back.
Another groan escaped Carter’s lips as he collapsed to the ground.
Using the wall for support, Julia steadied herself. Subsequently, she launched a series of consecutive kicks at Carter’s prone form, each strike landing with force.
