Chapter 182: Drunk Encounter with Carter
Alexander couldn’t tear his gaze from Julia’s neck. Her skin, as fair as snow, and the graceful curve of her neck had an undeniable allure. Julia’s face, tinted with a rosy blush from the alcohol, emitted an enchanting appeal.
All of it left Alexander feeling quite thirsty. So, he reached for a glass of wine, downing it in a single gulp.
Suddenly, memories from the past flooded his mind Julia being inebriated and a striptease. Though she had merely removed her coat then, sporting a T–shirt underneath, it stirred intense emotions within him, making his blood boil.
Reflecting on it now, he couldn’t help but blush, his heart racing. “Boss, any plans to end things with Jared?” he blurted out, his impatience evident.
After all, the woman he cared for was not only marrying someone else but also sharing a roof with him. And to make it worse, that man held affections for Julia, too, which he just couldn’t understand.
Julia’s delicate brows instinctively knitted together upon hearing Jared’s name, memories of his actions from the previous day flooding her mind.
Jared, if anything, had a history of catching her off guard, stealing kisses and such when she least expected. Though she used to brush it off as petty annoyances and something easy to forget, his behavior had taken a more forceful and aggressive turn recently, as though he aimed to possess her fully.
“I have a contract with him, so I can’t do that yet. But I’ll file for a divorce a year from now,” Julia revealed.
“What?! Wait a whole year?” Alexander’s impatience seeped through his words. “Why the long wait, Boss? And why even sign such a contract?”
Julia drew out a jade statue from her chest, explaining, “This is the condition.”
“Boss, promise me you won’t let him sweep you away in a year!”
“I won’t, silly, so stop overthinking. Besides, Jared and I, we-” Julia paused, gathering her thoughts, “we can’t be together.”
Julia’s dominating and assertive personality clashed head–on with Jared’s, whose demeanor was even more pronounced. Their inherent natures were fated to collide.
So, to Julia, someone like Jared, engrossed in work and making distant decisions, should find a partner who could offer tenderness and consideration.
Unfortunately, that role didn’t fit her.
Lost in her thoughts, Julia felt her head spinning even more intensely.
Glancing at the beer bottles on the table, she questioned whether her troubled mood was
amplifying the alcohol’s effects today, making them stronger than usual.
“I’m heading to the restroom,” she declared, craving a refreshing splash of water to wash over her. “I’ll come along,” Alexander offered, rising from his seat.
“No need, I can manage on my own,” Julia rallied her strength, striving to appear composed. “Boss, I’d still feel better sticking with you,” Alexander insisted, a genuine concern in his voice. Right then, Lincoln chimed in, “Boss hasn’t had much to drink, dude, It’s alright. Plus, she’s

headed to the women’s restroom! You can’t go in. Why don’t you join us over here for a drink instead?”
Nodding, Julia waved at Alexander and promptly departed the private room.
Outside, she finally dropped the act. She stumbled and quickened her pace, heading straight for the restroom, but with each step, the ground seemed to shake more intensely, and even the walls and ceiling appeared to blend like a swirling kaleidoscope.
After finally reaching the restroom, she splashed her face with water from the tap, feeling an instant relief.
However, upon stepping out of the restroom, the cool sensation on her face gradually gave way to the fiery heat of alcohol, causing her vision to blur once again.
Now undoubtedly intoxicated, Julia wished to return to the private room, thinking being vulnerable in front of people she knew was better than risking the embarrassment of undressing in front of strangers.
Returning to the private room’s entrance, Julia pushed the door open. “Lincoln, you guys-” However, her words were cut short as she froze.
Numerous people in suits filled the couches, with some men with beer bellies even having girls in their arms.
‘Did I enter the wrong room?”
“This wasn’t our private room, was it?‘
What left Julia even more confused was the coincidence that Carter was there, too.
“Apologies, I must’ve entered the wrong room,” Julia said, pivoting to exit the room. However, before she could leave, a middle–aged man stopped her.
“No, no! You came in the right one. I asked for girls here,” the man said, eyeing Julia with a creepy grin.

“No, sorry. There’s been a mix–up. I don’t work here, and I’m not with the girls. Please excuse me,” Julia’s voice turned cold as she stared at the middle–aged man.
However, just when she thought she could escape, another middle–aged guy stepped in and blocked her path. “Ma’am, no matter who you are, now that you’re here, how about treating us to a song?” the man suggested, flashing a couple of thousand dollar bills from his wallet.
The other girls in the room shot Julia jealous glances as they caught sight of the hefty cash. Usually, these businessmen tossed them a few hundred bucks, but this newcomer, who seemed to have appeared out of thin air, was being treated way generously. Envy, of course, couldn’t help but bubble up.
Carter, leaning against the wall, frowned deeply, his gaze locked onto Julia. Understanding her was becoming trickier as time progressed. He used to believe her chilly demeanor was only a tactic to intrigue him, but her moves were getting bolder, going way beyond any calculated strategy.
Then, here she was again, right before him, stirring up his feelings beyond control. Carter believed this KTV had countless private rooms that Julia couldn’t possibly bumble into the room he was in by accident.
‘Is this really a coincidence, or could she be doing this to keep me guessing about her motives and thinking about her?‘

As these thoughts spur in Carter’s mind, his eyes lit up while fixed on Julia. He believed he had cracked the code.
Julia probably consulted with a pro in this game, crafting a plan aimed directly at me. Her tactics. go distant now, then close, hot and cold. Now that I thought she finally let me go, she was trying to pull me back in.‘
‘Oh, Julia, Julia! You’ve got some serious wits!
Just when Carter felt he had nailed the truth, Julia’s chilly voice suddenly reverberated.
“You guys are seriously getting on my nerves! Move it!” Julia’s hand swooped, sending the money flying out of the middle–aged man’s grip.
Furious, the men’s expressions changed. “Who’s this gal, throwing such disrespect?!” one blurted out, lunging to grab Julia’s clothing.
