Chapter 180: Sheeps and Jared
Chapter 180: Sheeps and Jared
Upon witnessing this unfolding scene, Conrad’s eyes widened dramatically. Just as he was about to step in and stop Philip, Julia grabbed an apple from the table out of nowhere and chucked it right at Philip.
“Mm–hmm-“The apple smacked into Philip’s chest, prompting him to grunt and take a step back, but he didn’t buckle.
On the other hand, Julia squinted her eyes, looking at Philip with an icy grin, totally disgusted. Her eyes were practically shooting daggers at him.
“Seriously, Dad? You’re being like this for Yasmin? A kid who isn’t even your flesh and blood? God, that’s pretty wild.”
Philip clenched his teeth, trying to keep his cool. “Yeah, you got a point. Yasmin might not be my blood, but she has treated me like her own, and she’s been busting her ass to make me proud. Blood’s not everything – the bond we got is real.”
Philip’s words sent a chill down Julia’s and Conrad’s spines.
“Julia, I ain’t one to ask for much, but I’m your dad by blood. Please think about that and help Yasmin out. If not, I’ll kneel by your door until you change your mind!”
Philip, practically tossing his pride out the window without a second thought, left Conrad scratching his head, not knowing what the heck to do.
After all, Philip was still their dad. No matter how messed up he might have been, seeing your old man kneeling before you would be on a new level.
Just when Conrad was stuck in this mental tug of war, Julia took a step forward, about to take things up a notch. “If you want to kneel, do it on a busy street with many people. That way, you’ll have more eyes to witness your patheticness,” Julia quipped.
Philip’s temper boiled, and he was on the verge of exploding. “You-”
“Oh, please. Don’t ‘you‘ me. You just want Yasmin to get out, don’t you?” Julia interrupted, her tone dripping with skepticism.
At the mention of Yasmin, Philip’s eyes sparked with hope. “Are you saying you’ll take the blame for Yasmin?”
Julia scoffed as if the idea was preposterous. “You must be out of your mind. Why would I be willing to shoulder the blame for that girl?”
Philip’s fists clenched, his stare drilling into Julia’s. “Then what the hell did you mean earlier?” Julia reclined casually on the sofa, legs crossed, a nonchalant grin playing on her lips. Raising an eyebrow, she explained, “What I meant was pretty simple, Dad. The whole Sheldon and his wife cozying up to Yasmin? Yeah, that was me pulling the strings.”
“What? Hold on a damn minute,” Philip’s brain froze, then rapidly thawed into a blaze of realization. His expression contorted into disbelief and fury.
Julia’s grin widened with a touch of smugness. “Didn’t expect that, huh?”
“Why the hell would you do that?!” Philip’s voice was a strained growl, every word grinding through his clenched teeth.
“Seriously? You need that spelled out? Yasmin pulls a hit–and–run, tries to dodge the law, and guess what? She wants me to take the fall. She wrecks me and wants to make sure I can’t hit back. So, tell me, am I just supposed to let it pass? Be the punching bag for your precious Watson clan?”

Chapter 180. Sheeps and Jared
As Julia spoke, her volume escalated, the frigidity in her tone intensifying.
“You want me to take the blame for her just because my birth mother passed away early? Just because I didn’t meet your expectations?”
Honestly, Julia wasn’t all that mad about this at first. She had long seen through Philip’s true colors. Perhaps her frustration was because she redirected her irritation with Jared toward Philip.
When Julia’s furious gaze locked onto him, Philip suddenly felt uneasy. Deep down, Yasmin was always more significant to him than Julia.
“Julia…” Conrad’s worried voice broke the tension.
Julia took a slow, deep breath, letting it out in a measured exhale, her face returning to its usual cool and indifferent expression.
“Bro, you don’t need to worry. I’m okay.”
After reassuring Conrad, Julia’s focus shifted back to Philip.
“I won’t take the fall, but I can convince Sheldon and his wife to ease up. regain her freedom soon. But I’ve got a couple of conditions.”
That way,
Yasmin can
“Sure, go ahead!” Philip responded, ready to accept whatever terms Julia proposed if it meant Yasmin’s early release.
“Firstly, you have to promise to never show up in front of my brother and me again. You’re seriously just a bother.” Julia’s tone was almost lazy.
Philip’s chest seemed to rise and fall noticeably. “Alright, it’s a deal. What’s the second condition?”
“Secondly, you’re no longer allowed to visit my mother’s memorial day. I worry that her spirit won’t find peace.” At the mention of this condition, anger flashed across Philip’s face.
Julia’s words dripped with irony. To Philip, they felt more degrading than getting slapped a hundred times.
‘What kind of absurd request is this?! It’s worse than how one would treat an animal!”
The atmosphere in the living room became oddly silent and tense, with nobody speaking for a while.
Julia wasn’t in a rush. Gently, she lifted her tea from the table and took a delicate sip.
But after the prolonged hush, Philip finally relaxed his tightly pressed lips, unclenched his teeth, and uttered, “Fine. I… agree!”
These four words were practically squeezed out, each grinding through Philip’s teeth.
At that moment, Philip wished he could tear Julia apart and feed her to the dogs.
As Philip stormed away in anger, Julia smiled at Conrad. With a playful tone, she chimed, “Brother, I’m feeling hungry. My stomach is growling.”
“I’ll get
food ready right away.”
Observing Conrad’s improved mood, Julia smiled as well.
“Perfect! Don’t take too long, big brother.”
A joyful smile adorned Julia’s face as well. In the past, no matter what, she wouldn’t have been able to pull off being childish. But it came naturally to her when she interacted with Conrad just
now.
It turned out she wasn’t incapable of being playful; she just hadn’t encountered the right person to

bring that side of her out.
By 11 PM, Julia had finished her evening routine and settled into bed, shutting her eyes in anticipation of sleep. Oddly, no matter how much she tried, sleep eluded her.
‘What’s the matter? I’ve never had trouble sleeping in new places. Why is it so hard to fall asleep?‘
Julia adjusted the blanket between her legs and quieted her mind, starting to count sheep.
“One sheep, two sheep…”
As she counted, she conjured up the image of a fluffy little sheep in her mind to aid her focus. “Sixty–six sheep… Seventy, Jared… Eighty, Jared…”
Continuing her count, the mental images of the sheep began to morph into Jared’s handsome face.
“Hold on!”
Julia’s eyes snapped open. What was happening?
She was clearly counting sheep, so how did it suddenly become all about Jared?
Was she losing her mind?
After a few seconds of pause, Julia looked at the empty space on the bed and found herself imagining a man entering the room and pulling her into his embrace.
“Could it be that Jared is affecting my sleep?”
Julia was taken aback by her own thoughts.
That couldn’t be true, could it?
Had she grown so accustomed to him?
“No, no, I need to break this habit.”
She had only agreed to Jared’s terms for a year. Once the contract ended, she would leave.
Lying on her back, Julia stared at the ceiling, her eyes wide open and alert.
Sleep wouldn’t come.
‘I wonder what he is doing…‘
Just as Julia was lost in her contemplation, her phone suddenly rang.
Her pupils widened. Could it be a call from Jared?
After two seconds of hesitation, Julia sprang out of bed, grabbed her phone from the nightstand, and glanced at the screen.
