Chapter 173: Jared Stealthily Do Bad Things While Julia Was Asleep
Julia pursed her lips tightly. When she asked that question just now, she knew that the man would be thrown off. So, she was ready with a countermeasure.
“It’s not that much of a big deal. I’m just curious which girl gave it to you. Why do you value it so much? Is there a secret story behind it? Cameron seemed so concerned about this thing, too, by
the way.”
Jared could tell that Julia was probing, but he didn’t plan on exposing anything. “How do you know that a girl gave me this?”
“Because if a guy gave you this, then…” Julia deliberately teased him by shaking her head and chuckling, so Jared acted calm and smiled back. He felt so helpless seeing Julia act so friendly with him because it really made him happy.
“Alright, fine. A girl really gave me this.” Having said that, Jared looked intently at Julia, “Jealous?” Julia slightly raised her eyebrows. ‘Jealous?‘ She felt like laughing.
In her dream, she saw the little girl who gave the jade statue to Jared. Although she couldn’t see her face clearly, she felt very familiar to her. She liked her very much, just like she liked herself. “Who is she to you?” Julia asked.
Hearing Julia’s question, Jared felt a little helpless. As expected, she’s really hard to deal with. Jared stretched out his hand in front of Julia, stunning her for a moment. She instantly got what he was trying to do, though, so she handed him the statue.
After Jared took the little jade statue, he lowered his head and looked at it. There was a hint of emotion on his stern face.
“Her name is Juju, and she is the daughter of my parents‘ friend. My family and her family have a very good relationship, and we often meet. Our parents even wanted us to get married. So, this jade statue… It’s a gift from her. A promise item that carries our deal that we will get married
soon.
After Jared finished speaking, he looked at Julia, who wasn’t moving at all. At that moment, Julia’s dream became vivid, and slowly but surely, things started making sense.
Memories flooded her mind, and she could hear that name being called everywhere, echoing like loud waves of music.
“Juju! Let’s go.”
“Juju, this is
my mom!”
“Juju, do you want her to be your mother–in–law?”
With one snap, the face of a person became clear to her, and it was none other than Yannie. “Julia?” Jared called her name with worry. However, Julia was still in a daze. She recalled a fire that burned everything to the ground, and it made her temples hurt enough for her to react.
“Ugh…” Julia raised held her head, feeling an impending migraine. She was slowly turning pale, and in order to keep herself conscious, she bit her lips so hard that it started to bleed.
She snapped back into reality with a spinning vision and realized that Jared was carrying her back to the villa, screaming, “Call a doctor!”
She could see the man’s worried face, and she couldn’t help but feel a bit touched. Nonetheless, this isn‘ t the time to feel this way. “No, I’m fine. Put me down…”

Jared stopped in his tracks, lowered his head, and looked at Julia carefully. “You‘ re not fine!” “I’m really fine. I just lack sleep. That’s why it seemed like I was about to collapse,” Julia lied. What happened just now was a mystery to her, but one thing is for sure. It’s all connected to Juju. Somehow, they are connected, and she needs to find out how.
She needs to contact Lincoln later. The Watson family is definitely not ordinary, and although they disappeared without a trance, there is a big possibility that it isn’t the case. Definitely, there are clues that will lead her back to the truth.
“Are you sure?” Jared asked in his deep voice, and it definitely made Julia feel giddy. He was so handsome and manly that she couldn’t stop herself from wanting him.
Julia’s heart was beating like a ruthless drum. “I’m fine…” She yawned and looked away. “See, I probably just need to sleep.”
With this, Jared slowly relaxed. “I’ll take you upstairs to sleep. When the meal is ready, I’ll call you.”
Jared then walked upstairs, and Julia remained stunned. “Let me down first. I can walk by myself.” “Nah, just stay with me. We’ll get to your room soon.” Jared didn’t intend to put Julia down at all. Julia is not used to being carried like a princess. It felt so weird to be held like a delicate flower. She was worried. What if she got used to such a treatment that she wouldn’t be able to rely on herself in the future anymore?
To put it simply, she doesn’t like depending on others, and her greatest sense of security comes from herself. She was worried that after feeling dependent and safe with Jared, once she gets betrayed, things will take a turn.
She wasn’t ready to face that. After all, she has been alone since she was a child…
The two brothers she trusted so much killed her with their own hands back then. She can’t be so reckless anymore. It doesn’t matter if they‘ re family, friends, or even lovers. People are bizarre, and you can’t just trust anyone.
Shiloh was playing with his mobile phone in the living room. After sensing them, he raised his head and saw the scene. “What happened to you, Julia? Did you hurt yourself?”
Before Julia could answer, Jared replied, “She’s sleepy. I’ll take her back to her room to rest.” Hearing this answer, Shiloh‘ s jaw dropped.
‘Sleepy?‘ He thought Julia had some serious illness, but if she was just feeling sleepy, then there was no need to carry her, right? He couldn’t help but frown.
He thought his brother was treating Julia like a child and, as a result, spoiling her too much. Still, it’s not like he has a say in this. He just wants to get his cut and get the hell out of there.
In the room, Julia lay on the bed and pretended to be asleep. She was helpless because Jared was yet to leave. She repeatedly prayed for him to leave because if he stayed any further, he might realize that she wasn’t even sleeping.
Besides, she can feel the man’s burning gaze piercing through her supposedly sleeping skull. ‘Come on, just leave! What are you looking at?‘ Julia thought, and just then, he heard him. move. Julia felt relieved, but his celebration came shorthanded when she felt the man’s warm breath hitting her cheeks.
