Chapter 174: Men Are Going Too Much
Julia tried her best to fake her sleep, but as the man leaned closer, her heart beat louder. Until seconds later, she felt the soft touch of his lips. She was in disbelief. The man really stole a kiss from her while she was sleeping.
This was unforgivable and unethical, and considering her past, she should hate the feeling this brought her. However, it felt as though she took a liking to it. She was always vigilant and kept herself pure because of her trauma, but here she was, defenselessly lying on the bed, hoping Jared would kiss her deeper.

‘Could I be letting myself loose?‘ she thought, feeling an impending headache coming her She was torn between her body’s desire and her mind‘ s wishes, and just as she began cursing herself, she suddenly felt the man‘ s soft lips planted on her forehead. Admittedly, it brought a calming feeling, but it didn’t last long. Jared’s lips moved downwards. He kissed her on her nose, chin, neck, and collarbone.
If he goes any lower, she won’t be able to pretend to be asleep anymore.
Fortunately, the man was not that corrupted. He ended his escapade by kissing the palm of her hand and skipping any salacious movements. Julia was happy that it was over, but he had yet go of her hand.
Julia’s temples twitched uncontrollably. Now, she really wanted to sit up and scream, “You degenerate asshole! I’m just sleeping, not dead! How can you be so bold to eat me in my slumber?!”

Nonetheless, she didn’t say this. She just waited for him to get tired of staring at her, and it eventually happened. When Jared got out of the room, Julia sat up from the bed and looked at the door with a rather surprised expression. Then, she looked at her hand before touching the spots he kissed.
“That jerk…”
Although the man didn’t leave any marks after the kiss, for some reason, she felt an indescribable feeling in her heart, as if each and every one of his kisses remained embedded in her skin. The more she thought about it, the more she felt ashamed.
After a while, Julia shook her head.
‘Damn it, stop thinking about this useless thing, Julia… You have more important things to worry about, she told herself. Julia took her phone from the bedside table and decided to text Lincoln.
Julia: Any updates about the Watson family?
Lincoln: Oh, the Watson family, huh…
Julia: Yes.
Lincoln: I haven’t found anything about that family, let alone heard about it. Maybe they aren’t powerful because if they were, I would have gotten some information about them.
Julia: That can’t be the case. They were connected to the Brooks family twenty years ago.
Lincoln was puzzled.
Lincoln: Did this family offend you in any way?
Julia: No, but I know I have something to do with them.

After putting her phone down, Julia laid back on the bed, holding the jade statue and trying to piece the puzzle together.
“Yan… Aunt Yan… It could be Yannie, right?” Julia said to herself:
Meanwhile, Jared received a call from his mother. “I heard that you gave the jade statue to Julia?” she asked.
“I didn’t give it to her. She likes it, so I just let her borrow it for a while.”
Upon hearing her son’s response, Yannie‘ s brows met. She was inexplicably annoyed. “Jared, you shouldn’t have done that! It’s very precious, and Juju gave that to you with a promise. It’s not right to lend it around!” The more she thought about it, the angrier she felt because, in Yannie’s heart, Juju was the only one worthy of being called her daughter–in–law. Yannie had always regarded Juju as her own child. She hoped that one day, in the future, she could see Juju marry her son in a grand wedding ceremony. In addition to this, the only reason Yannie accepted Cameron as her daughter was because of Juju.
This alone proves how much impact Juju left on her, and that’s why when she learned the news of the fire that eliminated the Watson family back then, she was in severe shell shock. Yannie cried for days, aggrieved by the death of Juju.
A little while after the incident, Cameron appeared in the picture. She was a bubbly girl who showed so much affection towards Yannie, and that was why the mother fell in love with the young girl. She reminded her so much of the late Juju.
“Mom, she’s already dead.” Jared looked out the window, frowning his thick eyebrows. Meanwhile, Yannie fell silent for a while as she was reminded of the tragedy.
“But you can’t give Julia her things!” Yannie snapped.
“I said I didn’t give it away.” Jared withdrew his gaze and rubbed his temples, “Besides, Juju and I were young kids. It’s nothing but child’s play.”
“Jared, you-”
“Mom, I can handle this. I’m a grown adult. Also, can you stop Cameron from corrupting you?” Jared interrupted.
Upon hearing Cameron’s name, Yannie looked at the young lady, who was sitting across from her with tears on her face. She had been crying all day, and her eyes were swollen.
Yannie shook her head. “Are you out of your mind, Jared? Don’t you see how evil that woman is for beating Cameron up? She doesn’t deserve you, and she even manipulated you to corner Cameron like this! How can you let an outsider tear this family down, Jared?!”
Cameron clenched her hands upon hearing Yannie’s words. She swore that she would exact revenge on Julia after all the things that she did.
On the other hand, Jared’s dark eyes burned with anger, and he coldly said, “Cameron was at fault for this matter. I don’t know what lies Cameron has told you, but let me tell you this… Even if Julia wasn’t with me, I would never take Cameron‘ s side.”
Upon hearing his firm words, Yannie frowned. Now that Jared had said this, Yannie knew that Cameron might‘ ve lied to her a little.
“Okay, then tell me what really happened.”

Cameron cried even harder when Yannie looked at her. She acted so pitifully and sobbed like a
child.
“I didn’t do anything! I just saw her holding Jared’s things and immediately assumed she was stealing from him. I had no idea that he really g–gave the jade statue to her…” Cameron said with difficulty.
Yannie sighed, and a thought hit her mind. “Wait, you said that Julia wasn’t materialistic, yet she showed interest in the jade statue… Does this mean she knows something about the Watsons?”
