Chapter 164: Hitting Philip’s Old Face
Conrad emphasizing the word ‘biological‘ with such a serious tone made Philip speechless.
Philip was stunned; he couldn’t find the right words to say until it eventually reached a full minute
of silence.
“She asked for it!” Philip said in defense. Conrad scoffed and asked, “She asked for it? What did she do wrong, then?”
“She-” For the second time, Philip lost his voice. He tried to think what exactly Julia did for them to treat her that way. But no matter how much he thought about it, she couldn’t find anything. Philip was speechless. It took a while for him to think of another reason, and when it hit him, he immediately shot back at Conrad.
“Being useless was her biggest mistake! She was a walking embarrassment!” Saying those words somehow dispelled the shame he felt.
Conrad stared at his desk, nodding. “I understand. It’s because she wasn’t good enough for you. So she should suffer on behalf of someone unrelated to you. You’re doing everything for your stepdaughter because she benefits you, right?”
His words struck a nerve in Philip’s conscience. He sprung out from the sofa and yelled at him. “Conrad! How dare you blabber such nonsense?! I am your father, yet you speak to me in such a tone! Is Julia manipulating you?!”
That girl was such a disaster! “If I had known that Julia would grow up like a beast, I would have strangled her to death the second she was born!”
Hearing the cruel words of their father, Conrad’s heart turned cold. “You will regret it. You will soon realize that Julia wasn’t someone you thought she was.”
Conrad didn’t tell Philip about Julia’s connection with a gifted doctor. He felt that his power and influence weren’t enough to protect Julia when something happened.
Julia wouldn’t have accepted fake paternal love if Philip had changed his attitude when he learned
about it.
“Conrad Watson!” Philip gritted his teeth. “Don’t you want the position I offered?!” he insisted. While listening to Philip’s rambles, Oliver walked into his office holding a document.
When Oliver noticed Conrad was on the phone, he respectfully placed the folder on his desk without a word.
“It isn’t astounding,”
Conrad said casually.
Philip was dumbfounded. He already tried everything, but nothing could shake the siblings. He massaged his head and glanced at Natalia, who had been silently waiting, massaged his head and glanced
With a weaker approach, Philip said, “Can you bear your sister staying in jail?”
Conrad smirked after hearing the change in Philip’s tone. “She isn’t my sister. I only have one sister, and that’s Julia. As her brother, I will fulfill my duty to protect and care for her. I’ll make sure she can live her life happily. Didn’t you tell me that yourself?” Conrad ended his statement with a satisfied grin.
“Are
you mocking me?!” Philip shouted on the phone.
“You misunderstood because you only care about profit, not your family. It’s all useless to pretend.” Conrad flipped through the papers and clicked his tongue.
“That’s it for now. I must deal with many things, so I’ll hang up now. Don’t bother me with these

matters anymore,” Conrad said and felt chills in his heart. “I wonder how our mother in heaven. felt after all this.” With that, Conrad ended the call.
Philip held the phone firmly without moving an inch. Conrad’s words echoed in his head. He suddenly remembered that Julia and Conrad’s mother had always been watching them from above.
Philip stared at the ceiling in a daze, frowning. “Husband? Husband!” Natalia called several times before Philip slowly recovered and faced her.
“How was it? Did he agree?” Natalia asked anxiously. Philip stared at Natalia with strange eyes. “Agree on what? Letting my daughter take the blame for your daughter? Do you think I’m that kind of father?”
Natalia never expected Philip’s question. She concluded that it must be because of what Conrad told him. Natalia felt a sudden anger. ‘How dare you look down on me, Conrad?!‘ she thought. before tapping Philip’s shoulder.
“What are you talking about? Yassi may not be your blood, but she has always been your daughter. She will also care for you when you grow old and weak.” Natalia’s tears slowly flow down her cheeks.
“You might not be aware, but Yassi worked hard to learn everything since she was a child! She did it all for you! She thought of you as her biological father!” Natalia cried and placed her hand on
her chest.
“She chose to enter the entertainment industry and did her best for you. Even if it was hard, she did it all to help you! She was willing to do anything for you!” Natalia continued, staring at Philip with bloodshot eyes.
Seeing and listening to Natalia’s statement, Philip’s guilt toward Julia gradually dispelled. His guilt turned to self–blame after realizing all the efforts Yasmin poured into him.
Natalia was right. Yasmin was a thousand times better than his real daughter.
“Alright, don’t cry. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that,” Philip said, hugging Natalia to comfort him. “Don’t worry; I’ve figured out a way to make Julia take the blame for Yasmin.” Natalia leaned close to him, crying her heart out.
Philip invited Julia and Conrad to meet at a local coffee shop the next day.
Julia sat by the glass opposite Philip’s seat. She crossed her legs and stared at him.
On the other hand, Philip observed the siblings seriously and finally set his eyes on Julia.
He pulled out a bank check and
the five million dollars will be youred it on the table. “Promise to take the blame for Yasmin, and
Conrad’s eyes widened in disbelief and despair. He thought Philip would change his heart after hearing what he said over the call. Conrad thought their father felt guilty and met them to ask for forgiveness.
“Wow. You’re such a good father! You-”
Julia cut Conrad’s words and spoke calmly. “Brother, don’t be angry. It’s not worth it.”
She glanced at the piece of paper for a second before taking it. Philip smirked; he expected Julia to be tempted by money no matter how hard she tried to pretend.
Just as Philip was mocking her in his thoughts, Julia suddenly ripped the check into tiny pieces.
