Chapter 163: Jared’s Warmth, Julia’s Guilt
With his half–lidded eyes, Jared’s gaze never left Julia. She was leaning on his trousers, biting off the end of the thread with her teeth.
Just by watching her do that, the beast hidden between his legs twitched. Jared eyed the woman like the most delicious prey that he wanted to devour any minute.
He gulped a lump in his throat, fighting the urge to jump on her.
The whole situation felt as if the world spun slowly. Julia’s heart raced even though she was just cutting a thread.
Julia suddenly remembered what had happened on one rainy night. Her cheeks flushed the more. she thought about it. Unable to bear it any longer, Julia hurriedly fixed the thread and threw the pants back to Jared. “It’s done.”
She turned her back and tidied up the sewing kit. “I’m going upstairs; call me when dinner is ready.” After speaking, Julia hurriedly stood up.
However, her chest tightened, which made her stop in her tracks. Julia placed her hand on her chest as beads of sweat formed on her forehead. Within seconds, she found herself wanting to
vomit.
Jared didn’t bother putting on his pants as he abruptly went to Julia to support her. He wrapped his arms around her thin frame, worriedly checking on her.
“Where does it hurt? Is your stomach upset?”
Julia patted her chest and checked her pulse while Jared waited beside her. For the next ten seconds, the room was so quiet all they could hear was Julia panting.
Shiloh also quietly watched and waited worriedly through the door crack.
After a short silence, Julia looked at Jared, anxiously awaiting the result. “It’s my stomach. I’ll be better after two days.”
Jared frowned and asked, “Is it that bad?”
“Well, it’s not a disease. I’ll recover after resting. It must be because of the cold weather.” Julia withdrew from Jared’s arms while talking.
‘Why must he hug me so close?‘ Julia wondered.
Jared’s attention shifted from Julia’s stomach to the oranges on the table. “Don’t eat oranges anymore. I’ll tell Selina not to prepare anymore.”
Julia’s eyes widened. “Don’t! It’s fine to eat some oranges!” She immediately grabbed an orange and hid it in her pocket.
Jared followed her quick movements and stretched out his hand. “Give it to me,” he demanded. Julia covered her pocket and stared back at Jared. “It won’t hurt if I just eat one.”
Jared didn’t budge and waited for Julia to hand him the fruit.
An idea suddenly came up in her mind. Julia turned her head and looked at the door. “Why are you here?” With that, her plan succeeded, and it diverted Jared’s attention.
In a split second, Julia ran upstairs as quickly as possible. But Jared wasn’t one to easily fool. With such long strides, Jared caught up with Julia’s childish game.
Shiloh, on the other hand, was speechless after witnessing the two. For a moment, they were serious, and the next second, they were running around like children fooling each other.

Frowning confused, Shiloh returned to his room and questioned his decision to watch them.
“I’ll just eat this one!” Julia clutched the orange like it was her life, not wanting to hand it over. The oranges were lovely and juicy! It would be a waste not to eat.
“Okay, then eat it, and I’ll eat you.” Jared stared at her with a lustful gaze. Julia was stunned; she felt as if Jared had just pinned her onto the bed and stripped her naked.
In the end, she had no choice but to surrender. “Here.” Julia handed her precious orange to Jared and ran upstairs to escape.
Jared watched Julia from behind, raising his eyebrows. Three minutes later, Jared came to Julia’s. room with oranges. He knocked on the door and waited.
Julia heard the knock the moment she came out of the bathroom. “Why?” she asked and opened the door.
Julia saw Jared holding an orange. “I thought you wouldn’t let me eat that?”
Jared stuffed the orange into Julia’s hand. “It’s warm; you can eat it.” Julia held the warm orange, appreciating Jared’s gesture. It was as if the warmth reached her heart.
“Thank you,” she said softly. Julia kept her attention fixed to the orange. She felt it was no longer an ordinary fruit but a symbol of Jared’s warmth.
Why was he being nice to her? ‘How can I leave in the future if you’re like this…?, Julia thought, sighing.
That night, Julia had insomnia. She thought about a lot of things, confused and somewhat guilty. She didn’t feel guilty when she married him with a hidden agenda. They married out of convenience, and it benefited both of them.
Moreover, she did her best to help Shiloh with his legs. His condition was serious, so Julia carefully thought about the feasible methods. The whole procedure costs them a lot of expensive medicinal materials. With the help of a gifted doctor in her previous life, she was able to pull it through.
She never mentioned any of those to the Brooks Family. Julia did everything she could offer, so it was only right not to feel guilty.
However, Jared’s concern and care were beyond what she imagined. The more she thought about it, the more she couldn’t fall asleep.
On the other side of the city, the Watson Family was also panicking because Yasmin was locked up in prison all night. Her situation made Philip and his wife anxious.
“Husband! Think of a way! We can’t let Yassi stay in prison!” Natalia cried anxiously. “Remember that she was an asset to our company in the past few years! She doesn’t deserve to be in prison!” she added.
Philip took two puffs of cigarettes and sighed. He understood what Natalia meant and wouldn’t let anything happen to Yasmin.
“That ungrateful Julia. She never made any contributions to our company. Now that she had the
chance, she still refused to take the blame for Yassi!” Philip angrily spat.
“That Parker family was also quite strange. They were unwilling to reconcile no matter how much money we offered. They insisted that Yasmin must go to jail!” Philip added, making Natalia fall to her knees. “No! You have to do something!”
Philip immediately took his phone and dialed Conrad’s number. Perhaps Conrad could persuade

Julia to do what they wanted.
Inside J&C Limited, Conrad was processing documents in the general manager’s office when Philip called. “Dad? What do you want from me?” Conrad answered.
“Conrad, find your sister and tell her to surrender. She was also in the car at that time. She was the one driving, not Yassi,” Philip said without a pause. Conrad listened silently on the other line.
“If you succeed in persuading her, I’ll let you return. I’ll give you back the position of Marketing Department General Manager.”
After hearing his offer, Conrad, who had always been gentle and calm, suddenly burst out in anger. He gritted his teeth. “Dad, I have something that I wanted to ask you. Be honest with me,” Conrad said in a deep voice.
“Ask later! You should hurry and persuade Julia now!” Philip had no time to care about Conrad’s problems. Yasmin’s situation was more important to him than anything.
“Answer me first,” Conrad said in a demanding voice, which annoyed Philip. “Alright, hurry and ask!”
Conrad closed his eyes and took a deep breath to maintain his composure.
“As far as Julia is concerned, do you think you’re a qualified biological father?”
