Chapter 142: Jared Insists on Going Out With Julia
An eerily silence ensued. Carter was startled by a sound that almost resembled firecrackers. He stared at Vivien with wide eyes.
On the other hand, Jared swept his gaze at Julia. His eyes gleamed with devout fondness, and he tried to suppress his smile.
‘Sure enough. She indeed had a trick up her sleeve,‘ he inwardly commented.
Vivien’s face turned a deep shade of red as an unexpected sound escaped from her. She stood there, frozen like a statue.
No wonder she felt a sense of déjà vu–it was all because of this!
At that moment, she didn’t need to look up to know everyone was looking oddly in her direction. However, that wasn’t what she was worried about. It was Carter’s reaction!
‘What to do now?‘ she anxiously thought. It never crossed her mind that she would make a complete fool of herself in front of Carter. How could she possibly salvage this?
On pins and needles, Vivien bit her lips, racking her brain to come up with something that would save her from this embarrassment. However, her stomach suddenly growled, and before she could even react, a foul stench spread in the air as a yellowish viscous stool flowed down her legs.
Already expecting this, Julia pulled Jared away without missing a beat.
Carter wasn’t lucky to move away from Vivien in time.
A putrid smell assaulted his nostrils, making his expression distort. He lowered his stared at Vivien’s stained white skirt.
gaze and
Looking at the disgusting excrement, he almost retched. He had lived for many years yet never encountered such an ordeal.
To make matters worse, Carter realized that since he had hugged Vivien from behind, his had also been soiled.
pants
‘What the hell?!‘ he mentally cursed. This incident certainly dampened his appetite, and just thinking of having intimate moments with Vivien made his skin crawl.
The hotel staff, burdened by the smell, approached cautiously. “Uhm, Miss, are you alright? Should I call an ambulance?”
prayers
Hearing her words, Vivien prayed for a fissure to open up and swallow her whole, but her were unheeded. She was trying hard to bear her stomachache. Otherwise, what happened in the coffee shop before would repeat itself.
Biting her lips, she replied, “No, no, I just need a moment to rest.”
Even though Carter didn’t want to help her, he bit the bullet and said, “Let me help you back to your room.”
“Okay…” Vivien felt like crying, but she held back the tears. She was afraid that if she started crying, her defenses might weaken, and then her stomach would act up again.
After Vivien and Carter made their exit, the others scattered like leaves in the wind. No one could bear the smell lingering in the air, giving everyone the illusion they would die in suffocation.
The cleaning staff assigned to handle the aftermath was muttering curses under her breath, cursing Vivien’s lineage in anger.
“Were cleaners not humans too? Did we deserve this kind of abuse? The stench was so unbearable,

so disgusting! Who could tolerate it?” Despite her anger, she still cleaned the excrement on the ground.
Meanwhile, as Vivien entered the room, she suddenly sneezed, shattering her defense. Hugging her aching stomach, she ran to the bathroom in tears.
Glancing at her, Carter hurriedly opened the door and stepped onto the balcony, and inhaled deeply, trying to clear the air.
It took a while for his stomach to settle down. He glanced back toward the bathroom, and his calm façade finally cracked. Hearing the vivid gurgling sounds of Vivien’s stomach and her fart, Carter felt like throwing up as it triggered another wave of nausea in his stomach. Initially, they had planned on enjoying a fairy–tale–like escape in this secluded and intimate hideaway. And yet, this had happened. It would be a lie to say that it wasn’t disappointing.
For some reason, Julia’s graceful and lovely face flashed across Carter’s mind.
Even though her demeanor was different now, he still found himself unable to look away. Whenever she appeared, his attention seemed to be drawn inexplicably.
As he thought of her, a handsome man with an icy expression flashed into his mind.
Carter’s face darkened as he thought of Jared and Julia sharing intimate moments while soaking in the hot spring.
He ran his fingers through his hair and inhaled sharply, and strode out of the room.
With a dark expression, Carter moseyed toward the front desk and calmly asked, “Excuse me, could you tell me which room Julia Watson is staying in?”
The receptionist eyed him in confusion. “What’s your relationship with Miss Watson?”
“We’re good friends,” he lied without batting an eyelid.
Looking at Carter’s impeccable demeanor and distinctive attire, the receptionist thought his identity wasn’t ordinary, and he also didn’t seem like he was lying, so she nodded.
Smiling at him, she said, “Very well, Sir. Please wait a moment while I check.”
At the same time, Julia placed her luggage down and sprawled comfortably on the king–sized bed.
“This is so relaxing! It’s been ages since I was last here,” she gushed.
“You’ve been here before?” Jared casually asked as he walked over and sat on the edge of the bed.
“Yes.” She nodded and wanted to add, ‘I’ve been here in my past life, but the original body owner didn’t. Her family harshly curtailed her, and there was no way she could afford such indulgence.’ Sighing, she swept her gaze around the room and frowned. “Why is there only one bed?”
“This bed is huge, spacious enough for both of us,” Jared stood up as he spoke, unbuttoning his suit jacket and hanging it aside.
“Why didn’t you reserve a room with two beds?” Julia asked skeptically. Even though they were always together, it was only for public appearances. After all, they were only married on paper.
Jared turned his gaze back to Julia and responded with a solemn expression, “A double bed is quite pricey.”
Hearing his answer, Julia was baffled. Her eyes widened, doubting her ears.
‘Expensive?‘ she mentally exclaimed. If other people had said that, she might have believed them. But hearing it from Jared’s mouth was something she couldn’t believe.

Taking a deep breath, she proposed, “We can still change it, right? Don’t worry. I’ll cover the cost.” When Jared heard her, he pursed his lips. His expression unknowingly turned icy. ‘Was she that unwilling to share a room with me?‘
Clearing his throat, he said, “No need, I’ll sleep on the sofa.”
Julia glanced at the ample sofa and agreed, “Alright then, you can have the sofa.”
Jared sighed internally. Didn’t she know how to show a little consideration for him? Usually, people would say it would be embarrassing for him to sleep on the sofa, and they could share the bed.
‘She’s really heartless,‘ he thought.‘
Julia rose from the bed and said, “Thankfully, there are two hot spring pools, one for each of us. You can pick first.”
“Ladies first.” He sighed.
“Okay, I won’t be polite then.” She grinned and headed to the hot spring.
The ambiance in the hot spring was tranquil. Julia sashayed toward the left hot spring and slowly removed her clothes, and soaked inside.
“Ah, this is life,” she sighed contentedly and closed her eyes.
One must genuinely relish the pleasures of life. Otherwise, their lives were all in vain.
In the midst of relaxing, she suddenly heard the sound of footsteps. Her eyes shot open, and her pupils dilated when she saw Jared making his way in her direction, only clad in a bathrobe.
“Why are you here? This pool is mine. Go to the other one.” She squinted her eyes and pointed at the hot spring on the right.
However, Jared didn’t move an inch, just looking at her seriously. “I don’t like the other one,”
“I even let you pick, but you said that ladies first,” Julia retorted, annoyed.
Without uttering a word, Jared maintained his position and fixedly stared at Julia.
Under his scorching gaze, Julia unknowingly shrank her neck until the water reached her chin. “If you’re not happy with it, then you can have this spot.”
“Okay.” Jared faintly smirked.
Julia felt the warmth of the water enveloping her body. She knew Jared couldn’t see through the water and peek at her body, but his heated stare made her feel exposed, as if she were standing there naked.
“Ahem, could you turn around? I need to get out of the pool,” Julia said; her tone was tinged with embarrassment.
Jared remained rooted in place as though he didn’t hear her.
Frustrated, Julia sighed inwardly.
“You-” she began, but he cut her off.
“No need to trouble yourself. This pool is large enough. Let’s soak together,” Jared interjected, lifting his hand to undo the belt around his waist slowly.
The belt glided effortlessly, and with a gentle tug, it was unfastened.
