Chapter 140: Julia and Jared Soak in Hot Springs Together
Julia glanced at Cameron, then at Jared’s study room. She didn’t know what was happening, but before she could ask, Cameron pulled her collar.
Cameron said, “Just so you know, there’s nothing between Jared and me.”
Julia noticed Cameron’s face turned red as a ripe persimmon in the fall. She still held one hand over her belly, her legs shaking a bit, and she seemed unstable.
Seeing Cameron’s condition, anyone could only guess what she had just gone through.
Did Jared do that to Cameron?
Impossible! If Jared liked Cameron, he would have been with her for a hundred years; he wouldn’t have waited until Julia appeared.
Even Shiloh, who witnessed what was happening, knew that this was Cameron’s plan. He didn’t know much about anything, but Cameron seemed to be doing something to ruin his brother’s good relationship with Julia.
With Cameron’s current appearance, it was evident that something like that had just occurred, and Jared was the only man in the study.
But before Shiloh could say anything and avoid misunderstanding, Julia’s voice echoed in the living room.
“There’s nothing between you and Jared? So what could have happened between you and Jared? Why did he kick you out? Are you seeing yourself? You’re barely standing, and it looks like you’re about to collapse. Did he hit you?”
Both Cameron and Jared were speechless.
What kind of thought process did Julia have? Was she normal?
Jared felt confused at the same time because Cameron had intentionally behaved in this manner. She deliberately entered Jared’s study and then staged this scene to create misunderstandings, especially for Julia, to ruin the relationship between Julia and Jared.
Who could have anticipated that Julia would take such an unexpected angle, which ultimately disrupted Cameron’s plans?
“Jared is a good person! Why would he hit me? Actually, I…” Cameron feigned hesitance, hoping that her intentions would be relayed.
“Oh!” Julia suddenly seemed to understand and nodded, “I see. That’s why your clothes are disheveled, your legs are shaking, and you have lower abdomen issues. You purposely dressed like this to seduce Jared. Jared got upset and hit you. You’re too embarrassed to admit it, so hesitating to speak.”
Cameron’s mouth formed a round shape. How could Julia interpret her actions this way? Was she this stupid?
Cameron’s face became distorted, showing her confused reaction to how Julia was taking the scene she had created wrongly. But when she looked at Julia’s face, she knew she couldn’t keep pretending.
Shiloh suppressed his laughter. As a bystander, even though he was initially puzzled, not realizing that Julia was toying with Cameron would be too dense of him.
At that moment, Jared emerged, casting a cold look at Cameron before heading straight to Julia’s side.

“She came in, and I ignored her. Then she left alone,” Jared explained, giving Julia a familiar touch
on her back.
When Jared said the truth, Cameron’s face turned even redder. Her embarrassment made her wish the ground would open up and swallow her whole.
“Oh!” Julia nodded, glancing at Cameron, “So Jared didn’t hit you. Then you must be-”
Initially, Cameron was already embarrassed, but Julia’s words managed to intensify her embarrassment to the point where she wished she could vanish instantly.
Just when Cameron thought Julia was about to mock her, Julia’s following words overwhelmed her.
“So you’re here for my aunt,” Julia finished.
The room was filled with silence. Cameron’s mouth hung agape, her eyes wide. She stood there, motionless. She was expecting to be mocked. She was ready to be ridiculed.
But what happened? Why is Julia saying those words to her? Julia had thrown her off balance in a completely unexpected way.
Ultimately, Cameron left the villa in despair. Julia watched Cameron’s retreating figure with a gleam of amusement in her eyes. She wasn’t genuinely defending Cameron just now. Cameron was Yannie’s goddaughter and the Yang family’s eldest daughter.
In Yannie’s heart, Cameron held a pivotal position. If Julia humiliated Cameron now and caused her to lose face, Cameron might rush to Yannie in desperation. And then, Yannie might react hastily.
Of course, Julia wasn’t afraid of Yannie and was confident she could continue her relationship with the man. However, she genuinely cared for Jared and didn’t want him to face trouble because of her issues with Yannie.
“It’s very considerate of you to stand up for her,” Shiloh pouted.
“Ah–choo!” Jared sneezed quietly.
But Julia heard it and got worried, “What’s wrong? Do you have a cold?” Julia grabbed Jared’s hand, checking his pulse. “It’s a bit rapid. You really have caught a cold.”
When Shiloh heard what Julia said, he immediately became nervous and said, “Julia quickly prescribed medicine for my brother. A cold is one thing, but my brother must not have a fever. If he gets a fever, he-”
“Shiloh!” Jared cut off Shiloh’s words with a deep voice.
Shiloh stopped talking and looked worriedly at his brother. He almost jumped because of Jared’s deep voice that sounded angry at him.
Julia waited for Shiloh to talk more, but he wasn’t talking and just looked down. So she asked, “What will happen if he has a fever?”
Shiloh looked at Jared, who was shaking his head to say no. Then he shifted his eyes to Julia and finally decided to speak out. After all, it was Julia who had asked him to speak.
“My brother had this problem when he was very young. Whenever he had a fever, he would lose consciousness and experience throbbing pains all over his body. Not only that, but he would also have a fever for several days before it subsided. So, since childhood, the whole family gets distraught whenever my brother has a fever.”
“It was that serious?” Julia took Jared’s hand again and carefully felt his pulse. She thought that his

pulse might change only if he had a fever.
“I’m fine. What Shiloh said is exaggerated,” Jared said, wanting to dismiss what Shiloh had just said.
Being a man, Jared felt the need to appear strong in front of the woman he cared for. So he wasn’t ready to show any weakness to Julia.
Julia pondered momentarily and said, “Let’s consider canceling the hot spring trip the day after tomorrow. If you get a fever, it might cause complications.“.
Jared grunted and complained, “I told you, I’m fine. I won’t cancel the hot spring trip.”
He looked forward to it, eager to share a soak in the hot spring with Julia and strengthen their bond. Like Joseph and his girlfriend, they could even reenact the marriage–in–the–hot–spring scene and revel in the aquatic pleasures.
“The elderly people said it’s not a good idea to sit in hot springs when you have a cold. A cold weakens your body’s defenses, and you might feel shivery and get a fever. Also, being in a hot spring where it’s boiling and damp can make you lose too much water from your body, not have enough oxygen, make your cough worse, and even make breathing hard because the high temperature makes water disappear quickly. How about we consider this again and choose a different time when you feel better?” Julia tried to persuade him.
“Do you
think I’m that fragile? It’s just a minor cold, and I’ll recover by tomorrow. So it’s not a big deal.” He was determined to go on the hot spring trip regardless.
Julia realized that her efforts to persuade him were in vain. She also knew that men could be more stubborn than mules.
“Alright then, at least take your medicine first,” she suggested.
Julia agreed because she knew Jared wasn’t very sick.
Jared took Julia to a fancy hotel with hot springs outside the city on Friday night.
A lot of people were there. Luckily, they had unique nice rooms booked, so they could use the hot springs alone without sharing with others.
“Wait for me. I’ll go get the room key,” Jared said with a small smile.
Julia nodded and answered, “Yes, I’ll wait here.”
As soon as Jared left, Julia heard a familiar voice behind her. “Julia, what are you doing here? Are you following me?”
When Julia turned her head, she saw Carter smiling at her.
