Chapter 14: Teaching a Lesson
After seeing those words on the screen of his monitor, Carter’s eyes widened in surprise.
He would have never expected that the one behind his current dilemma was Julia. His jaw protruded, and his gloomy demeanor echoed all over. But in the end, he answered his phone.
“Did you do it?”
“Yes,” Julia admitted without remorse.
“You-” Carter’s angry fingertips trembled, “Do you know hacker J?”
“Not familiar; it’s just that I was lucky enough to have helped him once before.”
She knew about hacker J! Why hadn’t she mentioned it to him before? He gritted his teeth in anger.
“You are sophisticated! What more are you hiding!” His words were full of disdain and
sarcasm.
“Silly little Carter, I just helped him one and promised him not to say I knew him to others. It’s just right that I keep it a secret, right? Besides, who has no secrets? Just because you were my fiancé before, I must tell you everything, right?”
Every word that came out of Julia’s mouth left Carter speechless.
And Julia was still unfinished with what she wanted to say, “Also, before you say those things to me, can you please reflect on yourself first? Aren’t you the one who has a lot to hide? You even raised a mistress outside, which proves that you are that problematic.”
Carter’s squinted eyes gleamed with a dangerous glow. “Mistress. How dare you use that mouth of yours to insult her? You used to be kind–hearted. Are you still blaming Vivien and me? If it weren’t for your repeated attempts to harm her, make me so disappointed, you wouldn’t have ended up like this! If it weren’t for
like this! If it weren’t for your ruthlessness,
all these would not happen.”
There were a lot of times before that she tried to defend herself. She said too much, cried too much, and did too much for the man not worth it. And in the end, what came in exchange was Carter’s indifference and heartlessness.
So she was too lazy to waste her saliva now.
“I invited hacker J to break into your company’s system today, not to argue with you.”
“Do you want me to separate from Vivien? Do you want me to marry you again? There’s no way!” Carter said coldly, accusing her.
Julia rolled her eyes silently and said, “What would I gain by keeping a blind and foolish man like you?”
“You-” She interrupted him.
“Listen, go to the hospital now and apologize to my brother, or else I’ll give your company’s confidential information to your business rivals.”
“How dare you!” Carter stood up and growled uncontrollably in outrage.
Julia grinned and said in a playful tone, “Why don’t you bet on it and try it? I dare you?”
While Julia was so happy as she played him in the palm of her hand, Carter was clenching his fists tightly, his back–teeth creaking, and he wished he had skinned and boned Julia.
“Julia, evil woman,” he spouted and groaned.
“Compared to how you view Vivien, I know I’m nothing. Well, it doesn’t even matter if you believe me or not. Don’t worry. It won’t be long before I tell you how bad Vivien is.”
“If you dare to harm Vivien, I will make you regret coming into this world!” The man roared into his phone.
On the other side of the line, Julia took the phone away from her ear, rubbed it, and then mocked him more, “Listen here jerk. I have every inch of control over you now, Carter. So do as I say. If I tell you to speak politely, you will. If you don’t apologize to my brother, I’ll reveal your company’s secrets.
Upon hearing Julia say those things, although Carter was furious, he dared not attack. He still vividly recollected the last time Julia changed her usual appearance in the hospital. Vivien said that Julia was likely experiencing excessive stimulation and mental problems.
So he did not dare to provoke Julia now, afraid that Julia might have an impulse and leak his company secrets to his rivals. In this way, his company would inevitably suffer heavy losses.
“Okay, I will apologize!” These words all popped out of Carter’s mouth.
And as soon as Carter finished speaking, he saw the laptop screen returning to its original state.
Meanwhile, minutes after what had happened, Carlos received a phone call. He whispered back to whoever it was on his phone, “Have everything recovered? Okay, I understand.”
“Sir, all company systems have been restored to normal.”
Upon hearing the news, Carter hit his desk with a heavy punch, and being held in others‘ hands made him feel damn uncomfortable! He did not like swaying around that woman’s palm. It was as if he had control over his whole life.
Half an hour later, Carter arrived at the hospital and bowed down to apologize to Conrad.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have let anyone do that to you. I will bear all of your medical
expenses.”
Conrad stared at Carter in a daze, his brain stuck for a long time, and he couldn’t react. After Carter left, Conrad immediately called Julia and asked her what had happened.
“Julia, did you do this?”
