Divorce
Chapter 88: Will Use His Money to Find Another Man Without the Need for Divorce
“Cough.”
Jason pressed his fist to his lips and coughed lightly, hiding the urge to burst out laughing. He then said with a straight face, “Mae, it’s me, Jason.”
“Mr. Delgato?”
Mae on the other end of the phone was obviously a little surprised. “Why are you calling me?”
Mark’s hold of the wine glass was very firm at the moment. The veins on the back of his hand were bulging from the unconscious tension.
Jason looked at Mark who was silent and wasn’t saying a word. It took a lot of effort to control the urge to laugh.
“Mark, he’s had a lot to drink. Can you come to Renaissance and pick him up?”
There was silence on the other end of the phone for a few seconds.
Even though it was only a few seconds, for Mark it felt like a century had passed. The force of his grip on the wine glass felt like he could crush it in his hand at any moment.
“I’m not available. Call someone else.”
The decisive refusal came from the other end of the phone. Mark’s back stiffened steeply, but it was as if he already expected her refusal.
His thin, tightly parted lips twitched softly, and he downed the rest of the wine in his cup in one gulp as if trying to hide the despair under his eyes.
Jason looked at his friend’s appearance. Although he wanted to take a picture of this rare scene to keep as a souvenir, he realized that it would be rude for him to do so.
“He insists on you to pick him up.”
Jason lied. Mark furrowed his brow and looked at him, but surprisingly did not stop him from continuing the lie.
He was even looking forward to Mae’s answer.
“He drank several bottles of white wine. If he drinks more, I’m afraid he won’t be able to live. No matter what happened, you and he are still husband and wife. You would not want to see him die. right?”
This time Mae didn’t keep quiet and asked him in a serious tone, “You are not lying to me?”
Jason’s eyes rolled, and he and Mark exchanged a look, a look that was saying, “Look, she’s still worried about you.”
“How can I lie to you? If you don’t believe me, come and see for yourself. I can’t stop him even if I want to. I’m really afraid he’ll drink himself to death. What if something happens to him?”
Jason’s tone was heavy with an undisguised worry.
A happy smile appeared on the corners of Mark’s mouth because of Mae’s words. Although it was very light, it was obvious to the naked eye.

“That’s great. I was only worried that we wouldn’t be able to get divorced, but if he drank himself to death, then I’d immediately become a widow. That’s better because I do not have to worry about divorce anymore. I also can inherit a large amount of his inheritance. I can use his money to find myself a handsome boy that could make me happy. I can’t even dare to dream of such a thing. before. Mr. Delgato, since you’re there, please persuade him to drink more for me.”
Jason: “…”
What a wicked woman.
The extremely weak smile at the corner of Mark’s mouth froze completely and finally disappeared.
In the next second, he suddenly stood up and grabbed Jason’s cell phone. “Mae…”
Beep-
Before he could speak, the other end of the phone had already hung up without any hesitation.
Looking at the darkened screen of the phone and then at the livid face of his best friend, Jason’s mouth twitched twice violently. He didn’t know whether to laugh at him or comfort him.
“Mark, don’t be like that.”
Jason patted him on the shoulder, “If you’re worried about her inheriting your money to find another man, you can make a will in advance…”
Before he finished his words, he directly received Mark’s icy gaze. He believed that if he said one more word, he would be killed by this gaze.
“I’m just kidding.”
Jason snapped and smiled. He kindly advised, “You better drink less. Mae won’t even see it if you keep drinking, let alone care about you. Why bother with your body when she won’t even feel sorry for you after all the trouble?”
Mark: “.”
He no longer wanted to confirm whether Jason was consoling him, or specifically stabbing him in the heart. Knife after knife, he stabbed him without thinking twice.
“All right, I know. You should go home.”
Mark was not in a good mood and coldly sent Jason away.
“You’re still not going back?”
“I’m going to sit a little longer and have the driver pick me up later.”
Mark pressed his swollen temples and impatiently sent him away again.
“You really don’t need me to stay and accompany you?”
“There’s no need!”
Mark tugged at his tie impatiently. “I want to sit alone for a while.”
Jason looked at him and hesitated for a moment. He thought it would be better to let him be alone
for a little bit and left the bar after a few moments of uncomfortable warning
Before he left, he called Mark’s driver

Mark ordered a few more bottles of wine and sat alone in the corner, silently drinking one glass after
another.
The loud music around him and the changing lights seemed to have nothing to do with him.
He shut himself into a quiet world. He was remembering his marriage with Mae bit by bit, trying to find some memories during that time that could make her change her mind.
Ironically, he couldn’t find the slightest beauty in it.
The cold treatment he had once ignored in the past was extraordinarily clear to him now.
He thought about Mae’s decisive words on the phone just now, and his heart was stabbed until it was bloody.
It turned out that Mae really could be so cruel to him.
“Mae,”
“Mae…”
He called out Mae’s name again and again, not knowing what he really wanted to say and what he
wanted to tell her.
It just felt like his heart was hurting repeatedly, and even with all the wine he was pouring down his throat, he couldn’t make those sharp pains go away.
Jason said that he just wasn’t used to Mae suddenly not loving him. Was that really the case?
Would a person’s unfamiliarity be so terrible that it would be like this?
Mark wondered in his heart while drinking glass after glass.
Finally, a few low, self–deprecating laughs came out of his hoarse voice. “Habit really is a terrible thing.”
With his drink nearly gone, he quietly got up and walked out of the bar.
Today’s snow was somewhat heavy. Early in the morning, the ground was covered with a thick layer of snow. It continued to fall from the sky, falling on his head, shoulders, and everywhere.
The driver had been waiting by the side of the road when he saw him coming. He immediately greeted him. “Young Master, are you going back?”
Mark didn’t say anything, he just looked at the vehicles coming and going on the side of the road without saying a word for a long time before he opened his mouth.
“You can go back. I’ll go home by myself later.”
After saying this to him, he started walking towards the car. His steps were steady and did not show the slightest bit of drunkenness.
“But Young Master, Young Master Delgato said you drank a lot of alcohol. It’s not safe for you to drive alone.”
The driver followed uneasily, and by this time Mark had already climbed into the driver’s seat.
“I’m fine. I’ll sit in the car for a while. You go back first. I’ll call you if anything happens.”
“But…”

“Go back!”
Mark’s voice sank, hoarse, with an undeniable severity that subdued the driver.
