Chapter 86: Mae Hasn’t Changed. He Just Doesn’t Love You Anymore
“I just think Mae has changed.”
She has become ruthless, desperate, became… was no longer the old Mae whose eyes were full of affection for him.
“Changed?”
Jason raised his eyebrows and smiled with interest. He then leaned back lazily on his seat. “Tell me.”
Mark didn’t want to say anything. He didn’t want to remember the determined and cold look Mae
had when she looked at him.
But he felt that if he didn’t say anything, his heart would explode from the blockage.
He told Jason all the things that he had done one by one and of how he had taken the initiative to go to Mae. After he finished, he poured himself another glass full of wine. He smiled to himself, and repeated:
“She went so far as to think that me not wanting a divorce was a deliberate attempt to go against her.”
She even told him, in that sincere tone, that it would be good to get together and finally discuss their separation.
To hell with good riddance!
Mark couldn’t help but explode with anger in his heart.
Jason, however, laughed as he listened from the side and at the same time felt quite lucky, lucky that he could see this side of him.
“Or what?”
Jason smiles and asks him back, “Is it because you can’t let her go?”
Mark’s drinking faltered and once again, he couldn’t help but think back to the day when Mae had asked him a similar question.
At that moment he had even answered her so seriously, but didn’t she mock him and thought that what he said was too fake and disgusting?
“Do you think Mae has changed?”
Jason asked him again, “Because she doesn’t love you anymore and doesn’t treat you with that must–have–you attitude, you think Mae has changed?”
His words hit the nail on the head. Mark unconsciously wanted to deny it, but before he could open his mouth, his need for denial disappeared.
Jason’s slow and calculated voice resounded again. “I’d like to think it’s not because Mae has changed, or because you can’t bear to be away from her, but…”
He deliberately paused for a moment. Mark looked at him, and the depths of his always cold eyes was filled with a little dose of confusion.
“Rather… you’re not used to it.”

Jason said.
Mark’s expression was stunned, Jason’s didactic voice continued, “A woman who once loved your without hesitation suddenly doesn’t love you anymore. You’re not used to it. That’s why you think Mae has changed. Maybe she hasn’t changed, and she’s always been the same Mae. She is just someone who doesn’t love you anymore.”
First blood!
It’s just that she’s someone who doesn’t love you anymore…
Jason’s words took Mark by surprise.
“I’m not unaccustomed to it.”
He frowned and denied it.
Jason gave him a sideways glance. “You’re used to it, but you just can’t let go?”
Mark pursed his lips tightly and didn’t say anything, his eyebrows still furrowed.
Jason saw that he actually did not deny it. His eyes added a little sense of intrigue, but also maliciously added a sentence, “Is it really like she said? Do you really dislike her that you deliberately do not want to sign the papers just to go against her will?”
The bottom of Mark’s sullen eyes, colored with a hint of anger, lifted and glared at Jason fiercely.
He didn’t continue to make fun of him. After all, it was rare to see this proud and arrogant man trapped in love. It was also a new thing for him as his friend. He shouldn’t be so mean and keep making fun of him.
“Okay, on the other hand, you have to think about your behavior. You’re blaming it on someone else when it’s you who can’t let go of her, right?”
Jason’s words made Mark look at him again. The bottom of his sullen eyes was still showing a color of unknowing confusion.
“Ask yourself. Have you been good to her all these years?”
Jason asked him.
If he had asked it before, Mark might have nodded his head, but at that moment he was silent, or more accurately, confused.
The
year he married Mae, it wasn’t like he was very enthusiastic about her, but he also never lacked sending her the gifts she deserved to get in her position.
No matter what city he traveled to, he would always bring back valuable gifts for her.
He wondered if he was a good enough husband, but when he saw Jason cast an inquiring glance, he froze. His head was unable to nod down.
Jason, on the other hand, seemed to have guessed what he was thinking in his heart and couldn’t help but give him an inelegant blank stare.
“The present you gave to Mae was chosen by Robert, right?”
Another poignant question that Mark could hardly deny, even if he wanted to.
He couldn’t help but remember what Mae had said that day-

“This was chosen by Assistant Sands, right?
Assistant Sands‘ vision has always been good. I’ve always liked the styles he used to pick for me. If it’s no trouble for you, Mr. Smith, please thank him on my behalf.”
Her tone of voice and mocking eyes made Mark not even dare to think back.
However, Jason did not give him a chance to gather his thoughts and added:
“Look, you even let someone else pick out your presents for her. May I ask what else have you done for her besides spending some of your dirty money?”
Mark was silent again.
“No wonder she said she didn’t even want you. What does she need your gift for? Is it to remind her that you’re not even willing to spend some time picking out a present for her?”
Jason’s tone did not seem to fluctuate, but every word was heartbreaking and left Mark speechless.
“If you paid just a little more attention to your wife, you wouldn’t even be unaware of her pollen allergy.”
Double kill!
It was another spot–on sentence that zapped Mark’s face, and the hand holding the wine glass became a little heavier.
He remembered Mae looking at him with cautious eyes, and Aaron’s words-
It seemed that Mr. Smith really did not know anything about Mrs. Smith.
At that moment, Aaron’s words were like a slap with a sharp edge that hit Mark in the face, drawing
blood.
So, was it that he wasn’t interested in Mae at all, or was it that Mae was deliberately hiding it from
him?
At that moment, Mark suddenly realized that between him and Mae, even though they were married and even if the two of them were doing the most intimate things between husband and wife, he and Mae were actually complete strangers.
Looking into Mark’s eyes full of despondency and sullenness, Jason unkindly stabbed another knife
into his heart.
“If I was Mae, I’d consider myself a loser if I could put up with you.”
Having said that, Jason seemed to feel that he was almost done, and only then did he stop. He leaned back on the sofa and sipped his wine carelessly while enjoying his friend’s expression with great interest.
On the other hand, Mae really was capable. It’s just a short time, she was able to knock down the pride of this unrivaled man in front of him, bit by bit. He now seemed like a child who had done something wrong, trying to analyze his behavior and at a loss for words.
Jason did not move. He just raised an eyebrow and continued to drink his wine.
It was rare to have the opportunity to appreciate this sorrowful look of President Smith. He must not hurry to seize this chance.

A short time later, Mark’s deep, hoarse voice resounded, “Did I really promise her to sign the divorce
papers?”
