Chapter 85: Divorce Complaint
The smile at the corner of Aaron’s mouth faded a little more. Although he felt that Mark, this person, was indeed rational to the point of lacking humanity, he had to admit that what he said was the truth.
This was also the reason why he had told Mae in advance that Smith Corporation was involved in the drug research of Beyond Technologies.
After thinking about it, Aaron still said truthfully:
“Mr. Smith, as I just told you, this project is Mae’s. Beyond Technologies is just an auxiliary. Whether the Smith Corporation was willing to cooperate with us or not, it is up to Mae to decide.”
The expression on Mark’s face did not change, but the bottom of his eyes turned a deeper color.
A moment later, Aaron heard Mark say, “Then there is no need to let Mae know.”
Aaron raised his eyebrows slightly, waiting for Mark to continue.
“As long as Mr. Foster doesn’t say anything, Mae won’t know that the Smith Corporation is involved in this project.”
Aaron understood what Mark meant. The channels for the clinical trials were done by Beyond Technologies. Mae would definitely not take the initiative to investigate.
As long as he didn’t explain it to Mae, she would never know.
Mark saw Aaron’s hesitation. His face was darkening slightly, but he still suppressed his patience and continued:
“No matter what conflicts I’ve had with Mae, this is still a private matter between us as a couple. She should not be playing games with me over the health of this child.”
Aaron, who had been hesitant, was still moved by Mark’s words. After a moment of reflection, he nodded his head. “Okay. I can hide this from Mae for you, but I also hope that you will keep your word and do what you promised to. This matter can only be an agreement between the two of us.”
“Good.”
Having reached a verbal agreement, the two did not have the leisure to continue chatting in the cafe, so they left separately.
Just after they returned to the office, the secretary came in with a piece of mail. “President, this is from the court.”
“The court?”
Mark’s forehead twisted, and his heart skipped a beat.
After the secretary left, he opened the document bag, and sure enough-
It was a divorce petition filed by Mae, sent by the court.
The moment he saw it, Mark’s face sank steeply. He didn’t even want to look at it and immediately threw the document aside. The entire president’s office was filled with an oppressive silence for miles around.
Mark sat in front of his desk without saying a word, and all that appeared in front of him were the words: “divorce indictment.” He could remember Mae’s determined eyes when she mentioned the

divorce to him.
When he thought of what Aaron had said to him today, Mae would rather prefer to delay the experimental test for the special drug rather than have him participate in it. She was really very determined to divorce him.
He realized this several times, but he still kept remembering Mae’s feelings for him in the past, deceiving himself and others over and over again.
But he hadn’t expected her to be so determined that she had prepared to file for divorce this early. This indictment came to him today, indicating that she had filed her petition for divorce with the court at least a week or even earlier.
After a long time, a low laugh came out of his mouth. The voice was extremely low, but it was imbued with a miserable and despondent feeling that he tried his best to suppress.
“Mae, you really want to leave me.”
The voice was harsh, sandwiched between despondency and gloom.
As the night fell, the winter night came early, and the air was biting cold.
Neon lights were lit one after another, illuminating the people coming and going on the streets of the city, reflecting the headlights.
“It’s rare that you take the initiative to ask me for a drink?”
In a dimly lit bar with a dazzling dance floor, the deafening DJ sound filled the surroundings.
Jason leisurely unbuttoned his suit, legs crossed, and leaned lazily on the sofa opposite Mark. It was good to see the desperate look on his friend’s face. His handsome eyebrows slightly raised.
“What’s going on here? Can you tell me something unhappy to make me happy?”
Mark didn’t pay any attention to his teasing. He just held his wine glass and drank gulp after gulp of mulled wine.
After waiting a moment, seeing that Mark was really in a bored mood, Jason slowly wiped away the teasing on his face. He carelessly picked up the bottle of wine, poured a glass for himself, and asked, “Is this because of Mae?”
Mark’s movement while drinking stopped suddenly. His ink–like deep pupils looked over at Jason, his eyebrows abruptly twisted.
It seemed as if he was vaguely uncomfortable because Jason had guessed correctly.
Jason saw this, too, and without joking, he snorted lightly and said:
“Besides Mae, who else can make you, The Great President Smith, so hopeless that you’re drinking mulled wine here?
To put it mildly, the phrase “the man who controls the economic lifeblood of the entire city and even the country,” which was used online to ridicule with Mr. Brook’s literature, was not an exaggeration at all when talking about Mark.
Such a person, who did not rack his brain to flatter him, to persuade him, who has the courage to annoy him and make him so distressed that he went here to drink wine.
When Jason had just received Mark’s phone call inviting him for a drink, he had already guessed.

But when he arrived, he was still quite surprised to see this man, who had always been so arrogant that he could not be ignored, looking so lonely and gloomy at the moment.
Mark held his wine glass without moving. His two thin lips pressed tightly together, never saying a word.
Jason was not in a hurry to let Mark open up to him. He just quietly poured a cup of wine for himself. He took one sip after another with a lazy posture, like he was just watching a movie leisurely.
“Mae submitted a case to the court for our divorce.”
Mark finally opened his mouth, probably because he drank a lot of wine. His voice sounded exceptionally hoarse.
When Jason heard this, the wine glass going to his mouth suddenly stopped. His playful eyes looked at Mark, but his handsome face did not show the slightest surprise.
“So?”
Jason’s unexpected tone of voice made Mark look up at him, and his slightly wrinkled eyebrows knitted even tighter.
He saw Jason put the wine glass in his hand down on the table. He folded his hands and leaned over to sit up and look at him. “You still couldn’t let go?”
Mark’s expression was slightly stunned. In fact, he didn’t even know that the depression and stuffiness that had been weighing on his heart was because of what?
He still couldn’t let go of Mae?
Mark instinctively wanted to deny it.
“You’re thinking too much.”
He spoke in a low voice, but he picked up his wine glass and took a swig of wine as if he wanted to hide something.
Jason snorted lightly, obviously not believing his words.
The bottom of Mark’s eyes turned a depressing color. His heart became more and more congested. Even after drinking so much wine, he never managed to disperse the irritation in his heart, and in fact, that feeling of obstruction and blockage became even worse at that moment.
As he looked at Jason, the anger in his eyes grew more and more intense. After taking another gulp of wine, as if he had compromised, he said in a low voice:
“I just think Mae has changed.”
