Chapter 81. Send Her Flowers
Chapter 81: Send Her Flowers
He also thought that Aaron was a smart person, but he did not expect that in front of her beauty, he would not be able to resist the temptation while in front of her beauty to open a separate project for Mae and let her fool around.
He had never heard that Mae also knew about drug research and development, or that she was participating in Beyond Technologies projects.
He leaned back in his boss’s chair for a long time, and his gloomy face did not improve.
The thought that Aaron could start a separate project for Mae and let her fool around made him angry and annoyed.
He shouldn’t be working with a person like Aaron who could easily be blinded by beauty.
He told himself in his heart that he was angry with Aaron, not for any other reason that others would
think.
Near the end of the day, the secretary was called into the office by Mark.
“Sir, are you looking for me?”
“Go order a bouquet of roses and have them sent over right away.”
The secretary froze, then a glimmer of light appeared in his eyes.
Oh!
Was the ten thousand years of steel finally melting?
And he thought of sending flowers?
To whom?
Madam or Jennifer?
Secretary Alex, as the chief secretary of the president’s office, had been under Mark’s hand for about
the same amount of time as Robert, so he was a bit more daring than other secretaries.
Secretly suppressing the gossip gene in his heart, he asked with a straight face:
“President, are you giving it to Madam?”
Mark furrowed his brow, his face vaguely revealing a few moments of discomfort, but still gave a “hmm” in confirmation.
“Then I’ll have the florist send over a bouquet of red roses. Red roses represent true love. Madam would be very happy to receive flowers from you.”
The gossipy gleam in the secretary’s eyes became more and more obvious, and his gaze at Mark became more and more uncomfortable.
“Go order flowers when you’re told to. What’s the point of talking so much nonsense?”
“Okay, President. I’ll go right away.”
The secretary left the office, but Mark fell into deep thought because of her words.
“Red roses represent true love?”

Then he snorted and scoffed, “There are so many gimmicks.”
Even so, he couldn’t help but imagine the look on Mae’s face when she received his flowers.
Half an hour later-
In front of Smith’s building, Mark was holding a rose with drops of water still on its bright red petals, and an indescribable uneasiness pervaded his seemingly calm and handsome face.
The driver pulled the car close to the front as he opened the door.
“President, come on!”
Robert gave Mark an encouraging look, and before Mark got into the car, he uneasily urged, “President, say something nice to the madam. Girls need to be persuaded.
He was really uncomfortable with this eternal stainless steel straight man. If he did not agree with him and his wife became angry and walked away, the bad luck would fall to his manager who accompanied the king like a tiger.
Mark said nothing. He just gave him a blank look and then got into the car.
As he watched the president’s private car slowly disappear from his line of sight, Robert sighed with relief.
“This family is going to have to fall apart without me sooner or later.”
When Mae came out of the lab, several other research institutes were already off duty, and only Aaron was still organizing the documents at hand.
“You haven’t left either?”
Mae went up to greet him.
Aaron looked up from a large pile of documents and smiled, “I also have to go.”
After saving the file, he walked out side by side with Mae, and while waiting for the elevator, Aaron looked at her and said:
“The experimental data of your project is currently progressing smoothly. Without any accidents, the results will come out next month, and after that, the first phase of clinical trials will be conducted.”
“Uh–huh.”
Mae nodded, half of the boulder that had been weighing on her heart for the past few years was now falling away.
“I still have to thank you, Mr. Foster. Without your help, this project wouldn’t have gone so smoothly.”
Aaron welcomed her appreciation, directly accepting this ‘thank you‘ from her. Then he looked at his watch. “There are other ways to say thank you aside from just words.”
Mae was stunned, looked at Aaron, and saw him with a smile on his brow and a hint of faint playfulness at the corner of his mouth. He lifted his wrist, looked at his watch again, and with a sideways glance, he said to her:
“It’s dinnertime. I’m a little hungry, treat me to a meal.”
Aaron was so direct. Mae didn’t have the nerve to refuse. After freezing for half a second, she agreed with a smile. “Okay, just pick wherever you want to eat.”

“Then I won’t decline.”
“Thank you for your time, Mr. Foster.”
The elevator opened its doors just then and the two of them lifted their steps and entered. Mae heard Aaron say again:
“And don’t call me Mr. Foster. It’s too formal.”
Mae smiled. She didn’t mind calling him a different name. “Okay, Aaron.”
Aaron pursed his lips in satisfaction and nodded with a smile.
On a winter night, it gets dark very quickly. The lights outside the building were already on. When Mae and Aaron came out, the black Maybach stopped slowly in front of them.
The smile at the corner of Mae’s mouth stiffened slightly. This car was too familiar to her. She had sat in it just a few days ago.
It was Mark. Why did he come?
In the next second, the back door opened, and Mark stepped out of the car holding roses.
Mae couldn’t help but be stunned. How could she not expect Mark to show up here at this time, not to mention that he would be holding a bouquet of flowers? This scene was really shocking and strange.
In the next second, she suddenly took a quick step to hide behind Aaron and snapped at him. “Stay away from me, Mark!”
Mark, who was just about to pick up his steps to get in front of Mae, was yelled at by her, causing him to immediately stop.
When he saw her hiding behind Aaron, with her beautiful eyes now staring at him defensively, his face suddenly sank. The bottom of her eyes was full of wariness and dislike.
Just now, when she and Aaron came out of the building laughing and talking, she didn’t have this kind of expression. How could he make her so repulsed and disgusted?
At that moment, the way Mae hid behind Aaron looked unusually intimate in Mark’s eyes.
A wave of undisclosed anger began to rise uncontrollably inside of him. He took two steps closer to her as if he was deliberately trying to confront her.
“Mark!”
Mae’s voice raised a few notches, and her footsteps also took several steps back.
It was this reaction that caused the anger in Mark’s heart to get more and more out of control.
“Mr. Smith.”
Aaron suddenly opened his mouth. His long, slender arm blocked his way, and his handsome face was not showing a hint of fear of Mark.
“Aaron, do you not know what kind of person Mae is to me?”
Under Mark’s eyes, raging flames erupted. His voice was deep and cold as if he had entered an ice cellar. His eyes were as deep as black ink landing coldly on Aaron’s face, transmitting a sharp and
scary gaze.

Aaron did not move. He did not lower the arm that was stopping him. He just turned back to Mae and said to Mark:
“Mae is allergic to pollen. Doesn’t Mr. Smith know that?”
