Her eyes were filled with affection as she pretended not to show any traces of looking at Mark, and her joyful mood was evident.
In contrast, Mark’s attitude seemed overly indifferent
“Let’s go in together.”
Jennifer deliberately moved closer to him and reached out to hold Mark’s arm, but was stopped by his ice–cold gaze.
She awkwardly retracted her hand, her expression slightly embarrassed.
However, Mark didn’t seem to care. He turned and walked inside, and Jennifer quickly followed suit.
On the side, Robert silently observed the scene just now, wearing a slightly strange expression as he glanced at Jennifer.
This Miss Bleak’s intentions were too obvious. He wondered whether their CEO was completely clueless or pretending to be.
But he could only silently complain about it in his heart. He didn’t dare to say it out loud in front of their boss, who was like the king of the underworld.
Inside the venue, Mark’s gaze subconsciously searched the crowd for something. The next moment, his eyes came to a stop.
In a not–so–obvious corner of the banquet hall, Mae held a glass of champagne and leisurely chatted. with Jean, occasionally covering her mouth and laughing lightly.
Every word and action seemed to naturally attract the attention of those around her.
Mae’s appearance, height, and temperament were all outstanding. Even in the inconspicuous corner, she still caught people’s attention at first glance.
Suddenly, Mark’s heart skipped a beat, and a long–lost sense of pain surged up, making it hard for him to breathe.
His expression remained unchanged, but various emotions were churning beneath his usually calm
eyes.
Mae!
His hand, hanging by his side, subconsciously clenched into a fist.
At this moment, Mark couldn’t accurately describe his feelings. Suppressed anger was mixed with a hint of hidden nervousness.
He stared at Mae without saying a word, his throat involuntarily tightened.
“Honey, what are you looking at?”
Jennifer also noticed Mark’s gaze and followed his line of sight. Her pupils dilated.
Mae!! When did she come back? Why did she come back? Does she want to cling to Honey again?
Seeing Mae, Jennifer’s face instantly turned unpleasant.
Outsiders were laughing at Mae for being divorced by Mark and kicked out of the wealthy family.
Only she knew that during the years Mae disappeared, Mark had spent a lot of manpower and resources looking for her.
She thought that after they divorced and Mae disappeared, her chances of marrying Mark would increase. However, in these four years, despite her efforts and all kinds of means, Mark didn’t spare her more than a glance.
And now… Mae actually came back.
She couldn’t even imagine, now that Mae was back, would Mark consider remarrying her.
What should she do then?
Were all her efforts over the years in vain?
Jennifer’s gaze darkened as she fixed her resentful eyes on Mae’s enviable face. Her jaw clenched involuntarily.
For a long time, she took a deep breath, and a forced smile appeared on her face as she pretended to be surprised and said, “Isn’t that Mae–Mae? She finally came back. Honey, do you want to go say hello?”
Her voice snapped Mark back to reality from his emotions.
Suppressing the surging waves in his eyes, he calmly withdrew his gaze. “No need.”
With that, he turned around and walked away.
