Chapter 7
“Guess, is she back to try and climb back to Mr. Smith or is she unable to make it outside and wants to return to the entertainment circle to make money?”
Among the guests at the banquet, many had some sort of interaction with Mae, either simply liking her appearance or being jealous of her for marrying Mark. When they saw her, they recognized her instantly.
Outside the airport, the driver from the Smith family was already waiting there.
“Sir, are you going to attend the Gray Corporation’s project launch ceremony tonight?”
Looking at the tired expression on his boss’s always cold and handsome face, Robert asked in a low
voice.
“No.”
Mark got into the car and pinched the throbbing between his eyebrows. “You go on my behalf.”
“Yes.”
As the car drove halfway, Mark’s phone notifications sounded several times. He glanced at his phone. and his deep pupils suddenly contracted as he looked at the screen, unknowingly exerting a bit more force with his fingertips.
After a while, a low voice sounded in the car, with a barely detectable hint of impatience. “Go to the Gray Corporation’s party.”
The atmosphere in the banquet hall felt strangely eerie.
“Belle, what are you doing? Come over here and place your bets!”
“I’m sending a message to Mark, letting him know that his ex–wife is here.”
Looking at his phone, Belle Mist saw that Mark hadn’t replied to him. He put down his phone and returned to the group of friends.
“Why did you tell Mark that? Could it be that he still wants to see that woman, Mae?”
Another person mocked, and the others followed suit.
“Exactly, Mark finally got rid of that greedy woman. He must not let her cling to him again.”
“Back then, she shamelessly took away ten billion from Mark. I bet she squandered it all in these four years and now wants to come back and bleed him dry again?”
These people were all flatterers by Mark’s side, slightly younger than him, and regarded him with the utmost respect. When they heard about Mae’s divorce and that she had taken away ten billion from him, they were even more sympathetic towards Mark, and their disdain for Mae deepened.
On the other side, fearing that Mae might feel uncomfortable, Jean stayed by her side after arriving

at the party venue.
“Do you see that group of rich second–generation brats? No need to guess; they are secretly discussing you. Just ignore them. As long as they don’t bother you, it’s fine.”
Jean pointed with her chin in the direction of Belle Mist and his friends, her lips curled with disdain.
Mae smiled nonchalantly. “They’re just a bunch of clownish parasites. I have nothing to do with them, so there’s no need to care. As long as they don’t jump in front of me, it’s fine.”
“You’re really easygoing.”
Jean commented, and Mae grinned in response.
At this moment, a luxurious and low–key black Bentley slowly stopped outside the venue.
The receptionist recognized the license plate number immediately and quickly went up to open the car door.
“Mr. Smith, you’re here. This way, please.”
Mark got out of the car, his usual expression remaining indifferent without any emotional fluctuations. Only the deep gaze in his eyes revealed a barely detectable dark glint.
He walked forward with his long and straight legs, unknowingly quickening his pace.
“Mark.”
Just as he arrived at the entrance of the venue, a cheerful female voice came from behind him.
“Why did you come? I thought you would be tired after your business trip and wouldn’t come. If I had known, I would have come with you.”
The speaker was Jennifer.
