Chapter 43: Clueless Guy, Can’t Handle It
Mae glanced at the black Maybach parked at the roadside. She wasn’t sure how long they had been. there, but without thinking too much, she took her gaze away and looked at Mr. Sands, saying, “Please tell Mr. Smith that there’s nothing for us to discuss. We don’t have any common topics to waste each other’s time on.”
With that, she turned to leave once again. Mr. Sands felt anxious if he let the former Mrs. Smith walk away, his position as the CEO’s senior executive assistant might be in jeopardy.
“Madam…”
Mr. Smith was about to call Mae back, but he saw her suddenly stop and turn to look at him. His heart skipped a beat, and a smile formed on his face. However, Mae’s voice interrupted his attempt:
“Mr. Sands, there’s no need to address me as ‘Madam. It’s been four years since my divorce from your CEO. You can call me Mae or Ms. Lee. If you’re still unsure about the proper address, be careful that your CEO doesn’t reprimand you.”
By still addressing her as “Madam” at this point, this assistant, Mr. Sands, seemed to be genuinely not interested in keeping his job anymore. Wasn’t he afraid that Mark, driven to anger, would fire
him?
Considering how polite Mr. Sands had been to her before, Mae felt it necessary to give him a reminder. Making the same mistake again in front of Mark was something he couldn’t afford to do.
Mr. Sands smiled at the corner of his mouth, frozen for a moment. Then, he let out two awkward
chuckles and scratched his head, “Madam, I don’t think the CEO would mind.”
The gentle expression on Mae’s face faded, and even the trace of goodwill vanished. “Whether Mr. Smith minds or not, I mind. I hope Mr. Sands won’t make me hear that nauseating title again.”
Mr. Sands grew even more uncomfortable. He glanced at the not–so–distant Maybach and thought to himself: I hope the CEO didn’t hear what the former Mrs. just said.
Outwardly, she seemed to dislike the title, but who wouldn’t know that she was disgusted by the CEO himself?
Mr. Sands sighed inwardly, but he dared not show this thought on his face. Seeing that Mae was genuinely upset about the title, he quickly changed his address, “I apologize, Ms. Lee. I’ve gotten used to it, and it’s not easy to change it all of a sudden.”
It had been four years, and he still couldn’t change it. Someone might think he’d been addressing her as “Madam” for the past four years.
Mae sneered, not bothering to expose Mr. Sands. She turned around and walked away.
“Mae.”
A deep voice, tinged with a barely controlled displeasure, reached her from behind.
The back door of the Maybach opened, and a tall figure emerged from the car. His charcoal gray suit accentuated his perfect supermodel–like physique, but his sullen and handsome face, coupled with the aura of pressure emanating from him, instinctively repelled people.
Mae furrowed her brows, looking at Mark as he approached step by step. “Mr. Smith.”

It was the same repugnant and distant title. Mark, who was struggling to contain his anger, involuntarily released some of his restraint.
His intense gaze locked onto Mae’s seemingly indifferent beautiful eyes. A cold smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he said, “Do you find the title ‘Madam‘ nauseating? But don’t forget, back then, you did everything you could to marry me.”
The anger he was finding it harder and harder to suppress, combined with Mae’s indifferent attitude, made Mark more and more unfiltered in his words-
‘When you shamelessly climbed into my bed back then, you didn’t find it nauseating. Mae, are you making a mockery of yourself with these pretenses?” Mark’s words dripped with contempt.
Standing on the side, Mr. Sands silently raised his hand and covered his face, cursing under his
breath-
A clueless man, incapable of handling the situation.
