Chapter 4
On her back, there was a small Winnie the Pooh backpack, and her large grape–like eyes sparkled with clarity and curiosity as she looked around.
Excitedly, the little one’s eyes lit up, pointing in the distance. “Mommy, I see my godmother!”
Her soft and sweet voice made people irresistibly soften their hearts.
Mae took off the sunglasses covering half of her face, revealing an exquisitely stunning appearance. Her clear and bright eyes followed her daughter’s direction and saw her best friend waving at her excitedly.
“Let’s go, we’ll find your godmother.”
Her melodious voice carried a hint of uncontainable joy as she pushed the luggage and walked gracefully with her slender legs.
Her stunning beauty naturally attracted the attention of passersby, and they couldn’t help but be amazed by her appearance.
“Isn’t that Mae Lee just now?”
“She does look a bit like her, but she suddenly announced her withdrawal from the entertainment industry four years ago. There’s been no news about her for four years. Could it really be her?”
“I heard the little girl just called her ‘mommy.‘ Maybe she suddenly disappeared four years ago to give birth to a child.”
“How is that possible? When she divorced Mark, the CEO of Smith Corporation, it was widely known on the internet. If she were pregnant, how could she not use the child as leverage and easily get a divorce?”
“You’re right. A woman from the entertainment industry has the opportunity to marry into a wealthy, family. She would hold onto that chance and become a wealthy wife. How could she leave with her child?”
The passersby discussed the four–year–old gossip in low voices, tinged with some ridicule and disdain. But they couldn’t deny the fact that Mae was indeed beautiful.
“Damn bastard, you finally decided to come back.”
Jean Gray lightly pushed Mae’s shoulder, scolding her with anger.
Mae didn’t try to explain and just chuckled, giving Jean a big hug.
“Hmph! We’ll settle the score when we get back.”
While scolding, Jean lifted the little one from the luggage. “Little Jane, do you recognize your godmother?”
“I do. I saw my godmother’s picture before. Godmother is so beautiful; I remember it in my head.” The little one was sweet and flattering, and Jean’s heart melted when she heard the praise. She hugged the little one tightly and didn’t want to let go.
“Little Jane is so well–behaved, unlike your scumbag mommy, who left godmother for four years without returning.”
Chapter 4
Mae accepted her best friend’s scolding without any defense, and a faint smile graced her lips. Her naturally affectionate eyes scanned the bustling airport, and she felt a sense of estrangement.
She had left this place for four years, and now that she was back, everything had changed.
Suppressing the melancholy in her heart, she lowered her eyes and, with her luggage in tow, walked outside the airport with Jean.
“Smith.”
A familiar name suddenly entered Mae’s ears, causing her to instinctively turn her gaze in the direction of the voice.
In the distance stood a graceful and extraordinary man in a perfectly tailored ash–gray suit, which accentuated his broad shoulders and slender waist.
Following closely behind was a familiar figure. She smiled, skillfully and naturally holding onto Mark’s arm, her eyes filled with affection.
“Mark?”
Jean’s voice interrupted Mae’s thoughts, pulling her gaze away from the two people.
“What bad luck to run into that scumbag and vixen here?”
Jean’s words were filled with disdain. Then she looked at Mae with concern.
