Chapter 35: Jennifer’s Child Is Truly Mark’s
“Is that so? I thought Mr. Smith came down to support Ms. Lee because he still cared about her.”
One of the receptionists sighed regretfully and said, “If I had known this, I wouldn’t have stopped Ms. Lee from going upstairs. I thought she was trying to seduce Mr. Smith again.”
Upon hearing this, another receptionist pouted and added,
“That’s hard to say. How coincidental is it that she just happened to take Mr. Smith’s phone? Who knows if she deliberately took it to create an opportunity?”
Hearing this, Jennifer’s mood instantly brightened. “Alright, let’s not talk about Ms. Lee anymore. She probably didn’t do it on purpose.”
With her objective achieved, she didn’t stay any longer. “I have something to attend to, so I’ll be leaving. Be more careful in your actions in the future and avoid being impulsive. Otherwise, your might end up at a disadvantage.”
After Jennifer left, the receptionists still wore grateful expressions. “Ms. Jennifer is so kind, she even considers us small fans. Unlike that Mae…”
Talking about Mae, who caused them to lose their jobs, disgust was clearly written on the faces of those receptionists.
As the crowd gradually dispersed from the lobby of the building, many young people began discussing the incident that had just occurred at the Smith Corporation on social media. In an
instant, the comments numbered in the tens of thousands.
Meanwhile, Mae sat in a taxi after leaving the Smith Corporation building. She gazed quietly out of the window, her mind blank. She felt a lingering ache in her heart that wouldn’t dissipate.
Jennifer’s child… truly belonged to Mark.
She lowered her eyes, let out a soft laugh, though she wasn’t sure if she was laughing at herself or something else.
Just then, the phone she held in her hand suddenly rang, and it was a call from Hannah.
“Hello?”
As she answered, she heard Hannah’s exasperated voice on the other end, “Mae, don’t come back. right now. Those shameless people from your family somehow found out that you’re staying at my place. They’re waiting for you outside my gate.”
Hearing this, Mae’s brows furrowed. In her beautiful eyes, a chilly sense of coldness suddenly emerged.
“Hannah, help me take care of Jane. I’ll go back right away.”
“Hey! Hey! Don’t come back. Jane is with me. Those shameless people won’t dare to barge into my house. If you go back, they’ll definitely cling to you.”
Henery was righteously indignant, but Mae just smiled unconcernedly. “Don’t worry, I’ll deal with it when I get back.”
After hanging up the phone, the smile on Mae’s face immediately faded, replaced by a surge of coldness that overwhelmed her.

“Driver, please speed up a bit.”
Half an hour later, Mae arrived outside Hannah’s martial arts studio. From a distance, she could see a black luxury car parked outside the studio. A male bodyguard was repeatedly pressing the doorbell.
Beside the bodyguard stood an elderly man leaning on a cane, as well as a man and a woman of similar age to Mae.
“Ms. Langley, our old master is here to see our young miss. Could you please open the door?”
Although the bodyguard’s words were polite, his action of repeatedly pressing the doorbell was getting on the nerves of the others. The expressions of the three guests were becoming increasingly impatient.
Just then, a melodious and casually elegant voice sounded, “What are you all doing?”
The bodyguard’s hand froze in midair as he turned around to see Mae standing there with a lazy expression. Her gaze toward them carried a hint of contempt.
