Chapter 112. Regret Isn’t A Word That Exists In My Vocabulary
“Stupid bad person, how dare they hurt Mama! Sandra’s really mad at them!”
Sandra crossed her arms over her chest, her little face contorted in a mix of fury and determination. Her lips formed an adorable pout as she voiced her displeasure, and this display of protectiveness warmed Mae’s heart. Finally unable to resist, Mae pulled Sandra into a loving hug.
“With Sandra protecting Mommy, Mommy isn’t scared at all. In the future, if mommy ever faces danger, mommy will just talk to Sandra, okay?” Mae whispered gently.
“Good,” Sandra replied in her sweet and endearing voice, her cheeks flushed with happiness. “But those stinky bad guys better not show up again.”
Mae chuckled softly at Sandra’s innocent declaration. She gazed fondly at her precious daughter, who resembled a little doll with her adorable expressions and gestures. It was moments like these that reminded Mae of the joy and love she had found in her new life. The weight of her past mistakes seemed to lift slightly, replaced by the warmth of Sandra’s unwavering affection.
Meanwhile, at The Infinity Den…
“Victoria, you better go and stop him before he drinks himself to death. Mark can’t handle any more alcohol,” whispered David urgently.
Inside the tall and luxurious clubhouse rooms, those who drank, those who played cards played cards, and those who played mahjong played mahjong, Mark was alone nestled in the corner of the sofa, holding the bottle of wine, drinking quietly. Everyone could see that he was in a bad mood, but no one dared to go and stop him.
“Why should I stop him?” Victoria retorted, her tone dripping with indifference as she raised an eyebrow at her own brother.
David looked at his wife with a mix of exasperation and helplessness. He couldn’t believe that his own brother–in–law was holding a grudge against his wife.
“He’s your older brother, Victoria. Shouldn’t you care about him?” David reasoned.
“He’s your brother–in–law. Shouldn’t you care about him?” Victoria shot back, her words oozing with
sarcasm.
Despite her words, Victoria got up from her seat and walked over to Mark, swiftly snatching the bottle of wine from his hand. “You invited us all here just to watch you drink yourself into oblivion?” she scolded.
Mark raised his eyes to meet hers, his gaze slightly unfocused from the alcohol. The redness in his eyes made him appear somewhat ethereal, yet unsettlingly intense. Even when it was said that this scumbag is ruthless beyond measure, Mark’s undeniable charm is truly hard to ignore.
Victoria begrudgingly admitted to herself that her brother did have an alluring presence that attracted a fair share of women despite his beast–like temper.
Mark isn’t angry that his own sister took away his wine bottle from him and casually reached for another one at the coffee table to pour into his mouth, but Victoria was quick enough to take it away from him again.

Unperturbed by her brother’s reaction, Victoria confiscated the bottle and inspected it closely. “Did you plan on turning yourself into a wine barrel in front of everyone? We’re here to enjoy ourselves, not watch you ruin your night.”
“What else could it be?” Mark huffed at her words, and Victoria spotted Jason playing with poker chips nearby, nonchalantly pouring himself a glass of wine. He seemed to be thoroughly entertained by his older brother’s current state.
“This mess is probably Mae’s fault,” Jason pointed out.
“Mae?” Victoria speculated, crossing her arms. “You’re saying that this scumbag is drinking all the wine in this world because he’s sulking over Mae?”
Pointing at Mark, she rolled her eyes dramatically. “Seriously, thanks for inviting us! My sister Mae doesn’t date, don’t drag ber into every mess you’re in!”
Jason and David exchanged bemused glances. If they didn’t know any better, and if it wasn’t for the fact that these two siblings are an exact copy of each other, they might have mistaken Mae for Victoria’s actual sister rather than Mark’s ex–wife.
David sighed and touched his forehead, shaking his head at his wife’s antics. As a young man and brother–in–law, he still felt a sense of responsibility. He gently patted his wife’s shoulder and whispered, “Honey, please. The situation between Mark and Mae isn’t clear to us outsiders. Maybe Mae isn’t completely innocent either. Look at how he’s drinking. He can’t…”
David was about to give his point of view when Victoria’s expression shifted. She walked over, adopting a gentler tone.
“Mark, let’s not drown our troubles in alcohol. If something’s bothering you, just talk about it. We’re
all here to listen.”
Mark remained silent and didn’t continue drinking. He lowered his gaze, staring at the ground, lost in thought.
“When I last spoke to you, did you think things through?” Jason pulled up a chair, sat down in front of Mark, and asked casually.
Finally, Mark’s seemingly numb expression revealed a hint of reaction when Mae’s name was
mentioned.
Victoria’s eyes widened, and later on, rolled upon the realization. “Wow, you’re really affected by Mae. huh?.”
David looked at his wife’s amusement and sighed, rubbing his forehead.
“I divorced Mae.”
After a long silence, Mark finally spoke, his voice laced with a hint of pain, shocking Jason, Victoria, and David.
“But didn’t you already divorce her like four years ago?” Victoria, catching on to something, interjected, “Wait, does this mean that the Smith’s official blog isn’t telling the truth? You two didn’t divorce back then?”
She recalled the incident when Mark had used the PR department to post on social media, seemingly as an act of conscience or perhaps to spite Jennifer.
Now, realizing the truth, Victoria couldn’t hold back her frustration. “Seriously? So all those rumors

and scandals about you and Jennifer were true all along? That you were cheating while you’re still married to Mae? And now you have the nerve to drown your sorrows with bottles of wine, pretending to be a heartbroken saint? Who are you trying to fool here?”
David hurriedly stepped in, recognizing his fiery wife’s temper. “Vic…Victoria, that’s enough, honey.” He tried to calm her down.
Victoria reluctantly closed her mouth and finally couldn’t help but curse, “You bastard!”
Mark didn’t seem to listen to Victoria’s words initially, but when he did so, after a long time, he raised his eyes to look at Victoria, “What do you mean scandal?”
Victoria looked at her drunk brother incredulously. “Don’t tell me that you have no idea about all those ambiguous scandals on Facebook that are flying all over the place about you and Jennifer?” Mark sank his face and didn’t say anything, just that shady look in his eyes was already enough to show that the damned bastard really didn’t know about the gossip about him and Jennifer.
With the realization, Victoria wants to scold the life out of Mark, but she was quickly pulled back by David before she could even have a chance. “Mark has a busy schedule, honey. He probably doesn’t have time to keep up with those entertainment rumors online. It’s normal not to know about them.”
Victoria still looked disgruntled, but she refrained from making further comments.
She couldn’t deny the logic of it all. Reflecting on it, she acknowledged that those tabloid stories had always held a questionable aura, their photographic evidence a little too perfectly orchestrated. The angles were too deliberate, the intrigue too compelling.
She couldn’t help but conclude that Jennifer was behind those unflattering stories.
“What’s going on in your mind?”
Jason took a sip of his wine and questioned, “I told you to think carefully before making a decision. Is it worthwhile to regret it now?”
“Regret?”
Mark sneered, a bitter smile tugging at his lips. His reddened eyes bore a hint of darkness as he raised them. “Regret isn’t a word that exists in my vocabulary.”
