Chapter 248
The elevator door slowly closed, and Bonnie’s eyes were filled with resentment, staring at me like a vengeful ghost in a horror movie
This ghost woman seemed to be constantly haunting me. In my past life, I was madly trying to find her, intrigued by whatever charm she had that could obsess Nel so much.
In this life, though, I just wish she would stay the hell away from me and not show up in front of me anymore.
After leaving the hotel, I rushed straight back to work.
Just as I arrived at the office, my phone started to ring. It was Neil calling “Why didn’t you tell me when you left?” he asked.
“Why should 17” I responded, not getting his point.
“I was going to ride with you back, I didn’t drive here” Neil sounded like he was treating me as his personal chauffeur. He added, “You drove me here, don’t you remember?”
His unreasonable words left me speechless. After a moment of silence, I finally asked, “Don’t you have your own chauffeur? Or maybe Louis could give you a lift”
Neil responded coldly, “You drove me here, so you should drive me back.”
I didn’t have time for Neils nonsense and hung up on him.
After a long day at work, I left the office exhausted and rushed to the hospital to visit my mom

I nodded silently because I knew it was Russel.
I wondered if his injuries were getting better. The fight with Neil that night left both of them hurt, but Russel seemed to be the worse off

I took the box but didn’t open it until I got home
Inside was a beautiful heart-shaped diamond ring, the diamond about the size of a thumbnail and expertly cut. It shone brilliantly under the light.
There was a note under the ring: “I was going to propose to you once this all blew over, but I know you can’t hold on any longer”
Seeing his hardwritten words, I felt a sudden pang in my heart, and tears welled up in my eyes.
I knew I might have missed out on a great guy, but if I insisted on being with him, it would only leave him scarred
After crying silently for a while. I put away the ring.
Since Russel had sent it to me, I would keep it safe as a memento
After seeing Russel that night at the bar, I hadn’t heard from him for a while. Even Mitch didn’t have any news about him.
“Rena, you really broke his heart this time, Stella couldn’t help blaming me
“I know I shouldn’t have been with him in the first place. I took up his time and wasted his emotions,” I said bitterly.

I didnt respond, just silently sipping my drink.
Barbara tightly held my hand. “You should cut back on the booze You’re turning into a lush!”
If she hadn’t reminded me, I might not have realized how much I’d been drinking lately, often before bedtime, to help me sleep.
Whenever I had free time, I would drink to relax, but I knew it wasnt healthy, especially given my not-so-strong constitution.
I put down my drink and started eating more. Everyone said I’d lost a lot of weight and wanted to eat more to avoid looking frail.

Apparently, Mitch had messaged her that he had a friend celebrating a birthday and invited us along Stella loved this kind of lively event, so she immediately agreed.
I didn’t refuse, thinking it might be a good way to unwind. Maybe being in a lively atmosphere would help lift my spirits.
We all went there, only to be surprised.
Mitch’s friend turned out to be Kitty
“Irene, you’re here too? Awesome!” Kitty laughed when she saw me.
Today’s your birthday?” I asked, a bit embarrassed, “Sorry, I didn’t have time to prepare a gift.
“No worries, I just wanted a lively party. I invited Mr. Iceberg, but he didn’t want to come, so I asked him to bring some friends to my birthday party,” Kitty pointed at Mitch, Cooper, and even Louis was there.
However, there was hardly any sight of Russel in their gatherings now.
Mitch quickly pulled me aside, “You know her?”
“Yes, she’s one of Neil’s pursuers,” I replied, 1 gave her Neil’s contact
Mitch stared at me in disbelief
Actually, Neil was really nice to Kitty. Although he didn’t come to her birthday party, he still helped her bring people as she requested.
Since we were there, we could just enjoy the party. As long as Neil was not here, it was all good.
Besides Mitch and Cooper, as well as me and Stella, there were a few other friends of Kitty’s that we didn’t know.
“Kitty, the hot guy you’re chasing hasn’t shown up yet?’ one of Kitty’s friends asked her jokingly.
“He’s moody. I’ll push him a bit, let him come and pay, and make him spend big!” Kitty took out her phone to send a message.
Stella and the others looked at me. Mitch had already told them about Kitty’s identity.
I guessed Neil probably wouldn’t come. He was the kind of guy whod either gladly agree and show up or flat out refuse.
Suddenly, Mitch’s phone rang. Someone was making a video call
He glanced at me, then answered his phone, “Neil, you coming, dude? Kitty’s your friend, it’d be kinda crappy if you don’t show up.”

Mitch quickly turned around, deliberately pointing his phone’s front camera at me.
Neil’s voice paused for a few seconds, and then he muttered, “Just text me the address. I’m kinda bored right now”
Mitch said cheerfully, “I’ll text you the address right now!”
After ending the video call, Mitch started texting Neil the details
Kitty leaned in and said, “I knew we needed you to get him here. Neil totally doesn’t see me as a friend!”
Mitch chuckled awkwardly, then shot me an uneasy glance.
I frowned, sensing something was off.
Just then, a work call came in, and I found a quiet spot to answer.
