Celeste’s eyelashes quivered slightly, wondering if she was hallucinating under the influence of some drug. How else could she hear Liam’s voice?
“Letti,” the voice drew nearer, “Letti, open your eyes. It’s just me and no one else.”
Slowly, Celeste opened her eyes. The figure in front of her gradually came into focus.
It really was Liam.
Her tense nerves relaxed all at once, and then her tears started to fall.
She first held Liam tight, then started to hit and kick him, crying and cursing at the same time, “You jerk, how could you scare me like that!”
Liam knew he had messed up. He didn’t try to argue, just held her tight no matter how much she struggled, whispering soothing words, “I’m sorry. I was just messing around. It’s all fake, okay? Don’t cry.”
Celeste was truly frightened. From being drugged in the car to waking up and realizing she had been drugged, the unknown fear had been tearing at her nerves. For a moment, she even thought of dying together with the criminals.
When Celeste’s crying gradually subsided, leaving only soft sobs, Liam finally asked, “What are you doing here?”
Celeste paused for a moment, “Aren’t your people the ones who put me in the car?”
Liam frowned, “Why on earth would I have someone kidnap you as a joke?”
Celeste immediately retorted, “Weren’t you just messing with me?”
Liam fell silent
“I just woke up too. When I woke up, you were tied up next to me.”
Celeste was puzzled, “What do you mean you just woke up?”
Speaking of this, Liam’s face darkened, “Someone drugged me. I passed out without even leaving the venue.”
The last person he saw was Clair
When he woke up, Clair was gone, leaving only Celeste tied up next to him.
“If it wasn’t you, then who tied me up?”
Celeste tried to recall the events of the evening, but she was at a loss.
Liam gently patted her shoulder, “Don’t stress about it if you can’t figure it out, I’ll have someone look into it.”

“I need to check the surveillance.” Liam explained.
Flushing, Celeste managed a small “Oh, you go ahead.”
Even though she said that, she still clung to him tightly.
With a helpless sigh, Liam said, “Let me go.”
Celeste asked, “Haven’t I let you go?”
Liam’s gaze dropped.
Celeste followed his gaze down.
Not only was she clinging to Liam’s waist, but her hand was also unbuckling his belt.

Finally, Liam noticed something was off with Celeste.
Her face was flushed, her breathing was rapid, and she was uncontrollably tugging at her clothes. Although she wasn’t sweating, her skin was hot enough to burn someone, and her eyes were full of a captivating allure.
Liam’s expression turned serious. He pulled Celeste up, grabbed a coat, draping it over her shoulders as he said, “I’m taking you to the hospital.”
Upon hearing that she was being taken to the hospital, Celeste immediately started to resist, “No! How can I go to the hospital in this state? What about my dignity?”
Liam frowned, “What’s more important, dignity or life?”
