Celeste took his hand. She placed her thumb on a certain spot in his palm and started to press and rub.
Leonard was startled, almost pulling his hand away,
Celeste’s hand was cold and soft, but her grip was firm.
His heart was beating fast, as if it were about to jump out of his chest. He didn’t even dare to look up at her.
His mind was filled with romantic fantasies.
She’s holding my hand. She must like me!
Celeste pressed for a while, then asked in a low voice, “How is it? Do you feel less pain?”
He was not just feeling less pain. He even felt like he was floating on cloud nine!
He paused for a moment, then said, “It’s fine.”
“Then I’ll press for a bit longer”
When the manager walked in, he was taken aback by the sight..
Leonard was lying on the bed, letting the doctor treat his wounds.
His hand was held by Celeste, and his face was flushed.
Celeste was chatting with Leonard while pressing his hand, and Leonard, like a tamed puppy, was a far cry from his usual self. As the manager was hesitating whether to interrupt them, the door to the hospital room was pushed open again.
A man in a suit with an elegant demeanor walked in.
The manager frowned. “Who are you?”
Liam didn’t respond to him but walked straight to Celeste.
“Celeste.”
He called her name softly.
Celeste glanced at him and said in a flat tone, “Mr. Reed, we’re dealing with a wound here.”
Liam closed his lips and said, “I’m not here to cause trouble. I’m worried about you.”
He glanced at Celeste holding Leonard’s hand, his expression turning serious.
Celeste continued to press Leonard’s hand, saying casually, “Mr. Reed, weren’t you working late at the office? How come I didn’t know you could be in two places at once? You can have a date and work late at the same time. Truly, the best of both worlds.”
Liam lowered his head awkwardly and said, “I didn’t lie to you about having dinner with Claire just to deceive you. I just wanted you to care about me.” Celeste felt helpless. “I’m not caring about you!” How could he be so selfish, only considering his own feelings?
Celeste was very angry at Liam’s lie.
But she also thought of something. If Liam really lied to her because he was having dinner with Claire, then he should have felt guilty and panicked when he saw her at the restaurant.
But when Liam saw her, he completely forgot about his lie, and his eyes were full of worry.
Liam wasn’t very smart emotionally, and he didn’t have great acting skills either.

Celeste looked at him, puzzled. “Do you know how?”
In all seriousness, Liarn answered, “You’ve massaged my headache away plenty of times. I’ve got it down pat.”
So Celeste got up and gave up her spot.
“His back injury is pretty bad, it must really hurt. Massage him for a little bit longer.”
Liam replied with a smile, “Don’t sweat it.”
Suddenly, Leonard felt a chilling sensation at the back of his neck, like a snake was eyeing him, sending shivers down his spine,
He tried to pull his hand back, saying, “Actually, it’s not that painful anymore.”
Liam forcefully pulled him back and said nonchalantly. “How could it not hurt with an injury this bad? You helped my wife; I owe you one. Bear with it; let me massage you.”
