Chapter 1207
After hanging up with Mason, Celeste immediately called Liam to tell him what was going on.
As soon as Liam heard that she was going to sort out the certificate with Mason, he frowned, “You can’t go! I’ll go with you later.”
“Don’t you have a high–level meeting this afternoon? You postponed it last time; can you do it again this time?”
Liam paused, “Then I’ll go with you tomorrow”
“That works.”
Just as Liam was about to ask why she was being so cooperative today, Celeste said, “Do you know where to get the certificate? Do you know the process? Do you know who to ask for help? Can you stay calm in front of those department officials?”
With each question Celeste asked, Liam’s face turned uglier.
“So you think he can help you and I can’t, is that it?”
Celeste said softly, “That’s not what I mean. You’ve achieved more than anyone in the semiconductor research field, but when it comes to people skills, you’re not as good as Mason.”
Liam was unhappy, “How am I not as good as him?”
“See, you got upset just because I said so. Your team is the hardest working and makes the most money in the company, but when it comes to dealing with people, you’re not as good as Clyde Reed and the others.”
Before Liam could argue, Celeste said, “I know you don’t like people who flatter others and you don’t like underhanded tactics, but society is fluid and the rules can’t be so rigid.”
1 asked Mason for help because he’s good at dealing with people. As a lawyer, he’s dealt with all sorts of people, especially in the government. He knows how to handle them better than you do and can avoid a lot of trouble.”
Although Lram was uncomfortable, he knew what Celeste said was true. If it were about other things, he might have argued, but when it came to government connections, he knew Mason had more experience.
For Mason, getting this certificate would be a piece of cake.
Liam pursed his lips, “Is it really that urgent to get this certificate?” He could help her get it if she waited a few more days.
Celeste said, “The kindergarten on this land is still bringing in income for Helen, I need to get ownership as soon as possible. Only when she doesn’t have an income will she go to Shawn for trouble. I don’t want this issue to drag on”
Liam was silent for a moment, then said, “Do what you think is right.”
After saying that, he hung up.
Celeste was at a loss for words.
She was just praising him for being sensible, but now his childish side was showing again.
After hanging up, Liam thought for a moment, then called Trisha Colton.
Trisha was preoccupied with prepping for her new job when Liam’s call came through. She blanked out for a second before hitting the answer button.
“Ms. Colton, are you busy right now?”
Liam was all polite and stuff, but it made Trisha so nervous that she had to swallow down a lump in her throat What’s what’s up?”
“The buyer from last time was really happy with your script and wants you to whip up another one. Can you handle it?”
“Sure!” Trisha blurted out. But then a thought hit her. Last time, he’d handed her the script as a way to get Letti to call the cops. There’s no way he’d just set her up with a job outta the blue.
“Why are you getting me work all of a sudden? What’s your game?”
