Mr Warner. Your Ex wife is Brilliant
Chapter 258
“While this special place is dangerous, I don’t want Zane to come here. However, their existence serves the purpose of protecting the stability and development of our country. The selection process is necessary, and we can only take Zane with us. We can’t disrupt this selection,” Drake explained to Jane.
Jane hesitated for a moment, but quickly understood. Indeed, not all children were taken away like Zane without their knowledge. Some children might have voluntarily chosen to come here, or it could have been arranged by their families. She couldn’t take any child other than Zane with them.
Marina also heard Drake’s words and agreed with his approach. Her purpose was to find her own son, and she didn’t have any extra sympathy for others.
Carefully avoiding the two children, the three of therm continued to search deeper into the forest. Along the way, they encountered several more children, but Zane was nowhere to be found.
As time passed and the sun started to set, they still hadn’t found Zane. Jane began to feel worried, and Marina shared the same concern. She told Jane about her situation–her child was taken away without her knowledge.
However, Marina didn’t mention her status as a mistress, so Jane only knew that her child had been taken away without her knowledge. Suddenly, she felt a sense of empathy for Marina and relaxed her guard around her.
Marina also subtly tried to probe the relationship between Drake and Jane. Although Jane empathized with her, she remained rational and didn’t disclose their situation to Marina.
As the group continued their search, they finally arrived at the last checkpoint, a valley where all the children would converge. This was the final destination, and only those who successfully reached this valley within the specified time would pass the first round. By the time they reached the valley. most of the children had already gathered there.
“You can’t go over there,” he said.
Confused, Marina looked at Drake, using her eyes to inquire why she couldn’t go.
“Do you see it? There are people guarding the valley in the shadows. If you rush over there and get noticed, it will be even harder to take the child away,” Drake explained.
“So, what should we do?” she asked.
“Wait,” Drake replied. “The selection is not over yet. These people are just observing in the shadows and haven’t appeared in front of the children. We have to wait for the right opportunity to silently take the child away.”
Though Marina had some doubts about Drake’s plan, she ultimately chose to follow his advice.
As time passed, the sky gradually darkened, and the valley echoed with cries from a few timid children, making Jane feel anxious.
If Zane didn’t show up within the designated time, what should they do?
Sensing Jane’s worries, Drake tightly held her hand and comforted her softly.
“Don’t worry, Zane will be fine.”
Just as they were talking, some of the children began to find places to sleep in the valley.
Marina became excited because her son was approaching their direction. The dense forest made it easy to hide.
Seeing her excitement, Drake was afraid she might reveal their location due to her emotions, so he calmly asked, “Which one is your child?”
After hesitating for a moment, Marina pointed to a boy.
“That’s my child,” Marina confirmed.
Drake whispered to Jane, “Wait for nie for a moment
After speaking, Drake swiftly moved towards the children, gracefully navigating through the dense shrubbery.
Soon, he arrived in front of the group of children. When the other children weren’t paying attention, he immediately carried Marina’s child away.
Drake was careful not to draw attention or panic from the other children and covered the child’s mouth to prevent any noise.
Once he returned to the safe area where Jane and the others were, Drake handed Marina’s child over
to her.
Finally finding her own child, Marina was overwhelmed with emotion and almost cried as she embraced him. The child also cried, tears and snot streaming down his face. Fortunately, their voices were kept low, and Drake didn’t stop them.
Watching this scene, Jane felt inexplicably sorrowful. While Marina had found her child, where was
her Zane?
“Stop crying; it’s still dangerous here. Let’s leave first,” Drake said coldly.
Marina now fully trusted Drake, and after his words, she managed to calm Oliver down and stop crying.
“Thank you, sir,” Marina sincerely thanked him. However, Jane sensed something odd in her gratitude. The way Marina looked at Drake seemed to carry some seductive intent.
“We still haven’t found Zane. What should we do?” Jane didn’t have time to ponder Marina’s inappropriate intentions towards Drake and could only focus on finding Zane.
Drake frowned. According to Zane’s abilities, he should have easily passed the first test. Why hadn’t they seen any sign of him yet?
Just as Drake was contemplating the situation with a furrowed brow, the child in Marina’s arms overheard their conversation and spoke up.
“Are you looking for Zane?”
Hearing the boy’s words, both Drake and Jane turned to look at him, and Jane was particularly excited.
“Have you seen Zane?”
The boy, Oliver, was a bit startled by Jane’s excitement but nodded, “I have seen him. He even showed me the correct route, and that’s how I found my way here and met more children.

“Then, where is Zane?” Jane continued to inquire.
“He didn’t come here with us. He said he wanted to leave this place and go home, so he went in a different direction from us,” Oliver explained.
Tears welled up in Jane’s eyes. Although they hadn’t found Zane, at least they knew he was safe.
“Can you tell me which direction he left in?”
Oliver hesitated for a moment, then looked around at the surrounding directions and pointed in one direction.
“I came from that side to get here, but Zane left in the opposite direction.”
