Seeing the direction Oliver pointed, Jane immediately headed in that direction, with Drake following closely behind. Marina hesitated for a moment but eventually decided to follow them, holding her child in her arms.
Noticing that Marina had caught up to them, Jane stopped and looked at her coldly. “You’ve already found your child, why are you still following us?”
Marina hesitated and looked pained. “I can help you find your child together.”
“No need,” Drake coldly refused.
“I’m afraid I won’t be able to get out of the forest with my child alone, Marina feigned a pitiful expression.
Drake pointed in the opposite direction and said coldly, “Follow the way you came, you can leave the forest that way.”
Marina hesitated, thought for a moment, and then quickly said, “If you can’t find your child, I can offer help.”
Drake hesitated for a moment, but seeing that Jane was already about to disappear from sight, he didn’t have time to argue with Marina and chose to go after Jane first.
Marina saw this and immediately followed with her child. The group continued searching until late at night, but still couldn’t find any sign of Zane.
Drake held the breathless Jane and comforted her, “Jane, don’t worry, Zane will be fine.”
“How can I not worry? What if something happens to Zane?” At this moment, Jane’s emotions overwhelmed her, and she broke down in tears.
Seeing Jane’s sorrowful appearance, Drake felt a pang of heartache and pulled her into his arms. “It’s going to be alright. I promise I’ll find Zane.”
His words had a calming effect, and Jane’s emotions stabilized somewhat. Marina, who had caught up with them, looked at the two embracing and felt even more jealous. She wished she had a man who loved her like that. Glancing at Oliver in her arms, Marina’s feelings became even more complicated.
“Perhaps your child has already escaped from this forest,” she suggested. It was late at night, and Marina felt afraid looking at the pitch–black forest. She didn’t want to stay here any longer.
After hearing her words, Jane looked at her, especially after seeing the child in her arms, a hint of pain in her eyes. She, too, couldn’t help but hope that Zane had escaped the forest.
“Jane, you and her can go back first. I’ll stay here and continue searching for Zane,” Drake proposed. hesitating for a moment before offering a compromise.
At first, Jane wanted to refuse, but then Drake continued, “Maybe she’s right. Zane might have already left the forest. We shouldn’t waste time here. If you find Zane after leaving, inform me ”
Listening to him, Jane was about to refuse, but under Drake’s gaze, she could only reluctantly agree.
Marina overheard their conversation and felt a sense of loss. She had hoped to leave with Drake, but he unexpectedly asked her to go back with Jane. If that happened, wouldn’t they have no chance to

Reluctant as she was, Marina didn’t show it and left the forest expressionless with Jane. By the time. they exited the forest, it was already bright daylight, and both of them looked extremely disheveled and exhausted from walking in the dark forest. Especially Marina, who had to carry her child, was even more fatigued. However, Jane was eager to receive news of Zane, so she urged them to walk
faster.
After leaving the forest, Jane found the place where she and Drake had parked their vehicle. Her eyes fell on Marina, and she asked, “Do you want to go with me?”
Although Jane didn’t know much about Marina, she was aware that Marina didn’t come up the mountain alone, there must be someone waiting for her at the foot of the mountain. To her surprise, Marina chose to go with her, and Jane didn’t refuse. She brought Marina into the car and drove straight back to the hotel in town.
Back in the hotel room, Jane called the contact provided by Drake to inquire about Zane’s situation, but there was no news of him. Jane felt instantly disappointed. Gazing out of the window at the mountains, she once again contemplated going back to search for Zane. If he hadn’t returned, it meant he might still be in the forest.
Just as Jane was packing her things and preparing to venture back into the mountains, there was a knock on the door. When she opened it, she was surprised to find Marina standing outside
“Are you planning to go back into the mountains again?” Marina asked, noticing the packed belongings inside the room.
Jane didn’t hide her intentions and nodded. She must find Zane.
“I advise you not to go back. Your child may have been taken away,” Marina said, and her words startled Jane.
“Taken away? By whom?” Jane asked, not expecting Marina to say something like this.
“I don’t know much about it, but I heard that some of the children in this selection process are being sent to the headquarters. Your child might be one of them.”
Hearing this, Jane grew even more anxious. “Why didn’t you say this earlier?”
“I just thought of it and came to tell you right away,” Marina replied, raising an eyebrow. If it weren’t for wanting Drake to come down from the mountain and continue their interaction, she wouldn’t have told Jane about this information.
Jane made an effort to calm down, then took out the satellite phone left by Drake and called him. When Drake received Jane’s call and learned about Zane’s situation, he immediately came down from the mountain.
In the afternoon, Drake returned to the hotel in the town and met Jane. The two of them went directly to ask Marina about the headquarters. However, in the face of Drake’s inquiries, Marina seemed reluctant to answer.
“I can tell you what I know, but I can only tell one of you,” Marina said, her gaze carrying a hint of complexity, looking at Jane.

Hearing this, Drake tilted his head slightly, his expression cool, showing some impatience. Meanwhile, Marina maintained a lazy and alluring posture, emanating a seductive charm like a vixen.
