When the three of them arrived at the hospital, they found it crowded with reporters. As soon as the car stopped at the hospital entrance, the reporters spotted Drake and immediately swarmed around them.
Seeing this scene, all three of them frowned. They hadn’t expected to face such a situation.
“Stay in the car,” Drake instructed Courtney and Jane as he got out of the car. With his appearance, numerous cameras and microphones were thrust in his face.
“Mr. Warner, we heard that your girlfriend, Miss Annie Carlton, jumped off the building because of you. Do you know anything about this?” one reporter asked.
“Mr. Warner, what is your relationship with Miss Carlton? It’s rumored that she has given birth to your child, yet you haven’t married her. What’s the reason for that?” another reporter chimed in.
“Mr. Warner, please answer, what is the nature of your relationship with Miss Carlton?”
The reporters bombarded him with sharp questions, and Jane, sitting inside the car, frowned as she heard them. It seemed that the situation was more severe than they had imagined.
Because of the reporters’ obstructions, Drake had no choice but to sit back in the car with a dark expression. He then took out his phone and called his assistant, Daniel, for help.
Ten minutes later, Daniel arrived with a team of bodyguards and pushed the reporters aside, creating a path for Drake. With this, Drake got out of the car again, and the reporters continued to throw questions at him, even though they couldn’t get close to him.
Drake ignored their questions and continued walking towards the hospital, which only made the reporters more aggressive.
“Mr. Warner, are you avoiding something? Are you afraid to face Miss Carlton? Or do you feel guilty about her, so you can’t answer?” a reporter asked provocatively.
“Sorry, please make way. Mr. Warner won’t accept any interviews,” Daniel intervened, dealing with these public relations issues as usual.
“What do you mean, Mr. Warner? Why won’t you accept an interview? Is it because you feel guilty?” another reporter pressed on.
Upon hearing this, Drake’s cold eyes swept over the reporter who kept provoking him, leaving the person visibly trembling in fear.
“As for what happened, our company’s public relations department will issue a statement. Please don’t spread false rumors. If you continue to disturb us with these rumors, we will send legal letters to your companies, Daniel declared with an imposing manner.
This time, the reporters didn’t dare to be as aggressive and started asking unrelated questions, mostly about Drake’s relationship with Annie. But Drake didn’t answer any of them and walked straight into the hospital.
Jane watched Drake’s back as he entered the hospital and contemplated for a moment. She then opened the car door and followed him inside.
“Jane…” Courtney wanted to stop her, but it was too late. Jane had already gotten out of the car and hurried into the hospital.

Inside, she found Drake standing at the entrance of the operating room. Beside him were Mildred
and Annie’s father, Mr Charles Carlton.
As Mildred saw Drake, she stepped forward and began to blame him, “Drake! Why did it take you so long? Look at what you’ve done to Annie. You know nothing about her current condition. If Annie dies, I won’t spare you.”
Then, Mildred’s eyes fell on Jane, who had followed Drake. Her gaze turned hateful and ski p ped over Drake, directly pouncing on Jane.

As she spoke, Mildred raised her hand, ready to slap Jane’s face.
But Jane was quick to react, avoiding the slap and grabbing Mildred’s hand, her face cold.
“I advise you not to touch me.” Jane’s words were calm and void of emotion.
Apart from the fact that she owed Annie nothing, even if Annie were really dead, she had nothing to do with it. It wasn’t her who had made Annie jump off the building.
Moreover, considering all the harm Annie had caused her, she had no sympathy for Annie’s life. At least for her, Annie’s death was of no value.
“Let go of me!” Struggling against Jane’s grip, Mildred’s face turned ferocious with hatred, resembling Annie’s.
Jane huffed, releasing her hold, her gaze fixed on the other woman. If Mildred tried to attack again, she wouldn’t be so courteous.
“Enough, what are you still causing a scene for when our daughter is in this condition?” A man’s voice sounded, interrupting Mildred’s anger.
Jane looked towards the man who spoke, someone she hadn’t seen before. But judging from his reaction, he should be Annie’s father.
As their eyes met, Jane saw a hint of shock in the man’s eyes. Until Drake’s voice rang out, the man finally came back to his senses.
“Mr. Carlton, how is her condition?” Drake asked with a heavy tone.
Mr Carlton returned to his senses and looked at Drake’s calm face. He sighed deeply and said helplessly.
“The doctor is still resuscitating. I don’t know what’s going on.”
Charles Carlton looked at Drake’s calm face and sighed deeply, “Mr. Warner, I know I shouldn’t say this, but you had a relationship with Annie after all. Even if you don’t love her anymore, please wait until her condition stabilizes before leaving. Can you do that?”
Compared to Mildred, Charles’ attitude was much more reasonable. He appeared to be a good father who cared deeply for his daughter.
Jane observed the scene and thought of her own father, Andrew Bentley. It became evident that comparisons can lead to hurt and harm.

Charles and Mildred immediately stepped forward, and Drake also walked a few steps forward, waiting for the doctor’s words.
