Listening to the sounds outside, I hear several men talking and turn to look at the closed door.
“What’s going on?” I say and turn to Liz when I see her look intensely at the door.
“I have no idea, but I better go and check!” she says and gets up from her seat and starts to head over to the door. Outside I can hear someone raising their voice and start to argue when Liz has reached over to it.
She stops and listens for a moment before she is quick to open it up and the moment she does, I hear small feet run inside the room.
“Mommy! Mommy!” Noah’s voice reaches my ears and I see him run fast over to the bed where I lay and climb up.
“Noah, take it easy.” Liz says and rushes over to us but I lift my hand and grab Noah. It’s painful when he throws himself around my neck, but to feel him close to me is all worth it.
“It’s alright!” I say to Liz when I place my hand on his back where he lays over my arm.

“Hi little bean, I’ve missed you,” I say when he lifts his head and looks at me. I’m so grateful to still be here and get to hold him in my arms, I thought my time had come and if it hadn’t been for Darian and Liz I would probably not be here.
“Mommy, are you sad?” Noah says and I shake my head no at him.
“No, I’m not!” I say when he sits up beside me on the bed.
“Why are you crying?” he asks and I realize I’m crying in joy.
“I’m just happy to see you. I have missed you!” I say and try to give him a big smile when I hear some other footsteps outside the room. Looking over at the door I see Darian’s father walk inside and stop a bit away from us.
“Noah, you have to be careful. Your mother is still hurt” he says when I turn to look at him.
“It’s alright! I have missed him” I say when his father takes a step closer to where we are.
“We won’t be long, you need your rest but when I heard you had woken up we had to come here and let Noah see you!” he says and I’m grateful he did.
“Thank you!” I say to him when he turns and looks at the door.
Someone is talking to him from the door. He walks out and we get a moment to talk alone with Liz.

I get to hear everything Noah has been doing these days with his grandparents and I have to agree with Liz, he is getting spoiled more than I ever could have imagined.
“I think you need to rest!” Liz says when I have to close my eyes for a moment. The swelling in my face is painful.
“It’s alright, just painful,” I say when the door is opened and a nurse comes walking inside the room with a tray and places it down on the table beside the bed.
“Some soup,” she says and lifts the blanket off my leg when she starts to examine it.
“Thank you,” I say when she places a pillow under my leg.
“Is the pain better or do you want something for it?” she asks when his father comes walking back inside. Looking at him I see his eyes glaze over before he looks at me, I get this feeling he knows something.
“She is in more pain, can you give her something?” I hear Liz say when I keep my eyes on his father. I know he feels my eyes on him because he lifts his gaze and looks at me.

“What is it?” I ask him when he stands there in silence. Liz instantly snaps her head his way and everyone is silent in the room.
“It’s nothing!” he says and takes a step closer to the bed and where Noah is.
“Come, it’s time to go back and let your mother rest. We can come back tomorrow again” he says to Noah and takes his hand when he happily gets off the bed. I’m glad he wants to go with him and the way he easily follows him I know he is being well taken care of
“Tell me what it is! Are they in trouble?” I hear Liz say anxiously when his father stops and looks at me.
“You don’t have to worry, they are all fine and will be back here shortly! Darian is strong” he says when he gives me a nod and starts to walk out of the room. Noah turns around and gives me a wink with his hand and has a big smile on his face when he talks out of the room.
They close the door after them and now there is no question about it, they are in trouble.
“Are you thinking the same as me?” Liz says when the nurse walks around in the room before I feel a needle in my arm. Turning my head to look at what she is doing I see her inject something in my arm.

“Just something to ease the pain a bit, you will heal up faster if you rest!” she says and rest is the last thing on my mind right now.
“Here, you should eat as well and the doctor will be in later to check up on you!” the nurse says and place the table closer to the bed when u just give her a nod before she walks out of the room and closes the door after her.
We are alone in the room and wait to hear several heavy feet walk away from the door when Liz turns to look at me.
“You need to rest and get better quickly,” she says and places the tray in my lap instead before she turns and starts to walk towards the door.
“Where are you going?” I ask her when she stops and turns to look at

“For both of us sake I need to find out what I can!” she says before she quickly turns around and grabs the door handle without another word.
I see her walk out of the room and close the door after her in silence. I’m not going to stop her, but at the same time, I hope she doesn’t do anything irrational.
I’m alone in the room and look down at the tray I decide to try and get some food down. My stomach rumbles when the smell reaches my
nose.
Taking off the lid over the plate I pick up my spoon and start to slowly eat what I can. It takes time and for every spoon I take I get more and

more tired until it’s empty.
Placing the tray on the side table carefully I lay on the bed and have to close my eyes for a short moment. So tired I hardly manage to keep them open.
I have no idea for how long I have been sleeping, but walking up again I look around in the room and see everything is pitch black around me.
Trying to blink several times when my vision becomes clearer for a short moment and I get shocked at first, I have been able to see this clear in the dark for several years.
Then without any warning pain hits me over my shoulder and down my chest. I have to lean forward and hold my hand over it when my head starts to spin and the pain gets worse before I fall back on the bed and my surroundings fade away.
